Been wanting to try this spot located in the Blossom Hall Market, and they had a nice line going when we were there. It's premium pastries/pies, as each was nearly $10, but I can see why. They're unique and delicious. We got the chocolate sticky rice with anchovy and ube banoffee pie. It was so interesting to have something with anchovy, but it worked and was delicious. The pies were sweet but not overly so, which I liked. The slices were pretty big, so it was nice to share with others and try multiple things. Definitely a must try at least once because these are tasty.
Came here around 5 pm on a Saturday and they still had a good amount of pastries left! I ordered the mango sticky rice donut and the blue corn chocolate chip cookie. These were so unique and absolutely delicious! The mango sticky rice donut wasn't too sweet and the mangos and ingredients tasted fresh! The donut itself wasn't too oily/heavily fried either. The blue corn chocolate chip cookie was very interesting and not too sweet either! The blue corn flavor wasn't bitter and blended well with the dark chocolate chips. Would highly recommend! Service was good! The cashier there was kind and helpful. There is plenty of seating since it's located inside the blossom market food hall! There is also plenty of parking in the back of the food hall. Will definitely come back!
We tried a few things and would definitely make repeat visits to this stall. My favorite was the Biko pie. I told my souse that we should get the whole pie next time. One slice is not enough! It's essentially Biko in pie format with a lovely topping and delicious graham-pecan base. Oohhh! In craving a bite as I type this review! This stall is located in Blossom Food Hall. Enjoy!
We stopped by Baking with Ish on a Saturday morning to pick up a few pastries to enjoy at home, and I'm so glad we did. We tried the Ube & Black Sesame Roll, Banana Blue Corn Blueberry Pistachio Bread, Pistachio Cardamom Roll, and the Spam Tocino Cheese Scone. The Ube & Black Sesame Roll was easily my favorite. It had the perfect balance of flavors, wasn't overly sweet, and was something I'd absolutely come back for. My second favorite was the Spam Tocino Cheese Scone, which was savory, flavorful, and full of childhood flavors. The Banana Blue Corn Blueberry Pistachio Bread was my least favorite, mostly because the texture wasn't for me, but the flavor combinations were still interesting and unique. The pastries are definitely on the pricier side, but the quality and creativity make them worth trying. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping by. It's located inside Blossom Market, so parking is easy, which is always a nice bonus. I'll definitely be back for another Ube & Black Sesame Roll.
Run to this place! They now have chicken and waffles and ube pancakes! I am so happy they expanded their space and now we get to have some chicken and waffle goodness! The chicken is flavorful with the amazing crispy batter. The chicken stays moist! Really a treat and you have to try. Ish is always so nice and helpful, he won't serve you anything that he doesn't feel that it's perfection! Thank you and I can't wait to come back for more goodies!
Small Filipino bakery inside of the Blossom Market Hall. If you haven't been here, Blossom is like a small food court. Lots of public parking outside, so you won't have problems finding a spot. This place has a lot of hype thanks to social media and the internet, and I can see why. They have a lot of innovative, Filipino-inspired pastries that you'll have trouble finding anywhere else. So if you're looking for something a bit different, come check it out. The hall has plenty of seating, so I opted to eat my meal here. The place is really clean and communal; you'll enjoy it. Ordered the following: - Chicken and waffles - 6/10: Two thighs on top of a fat Belgian waffle served with a side of honey and cinnamon butter. Waffle was fluffy, grainy, and baked just right. That was the best part of the dish. The chicken, though, was a bit disappointing. Way too salty, overseasoned, and slightly overcooked. Looked a lot better than it tasted. - Ube Black Sesame Roll - 5.5/10: Looks like a cinnamon roll, but it's smothered in an ube paste and sprinkled with black sesame. A little too sweet for me and the ube was just a bit too much. Maybe dial down the ube just a tad bit. Sesame didn't do much for it, unfortunately. All this with a canned soda came out to 33 bucks. Expensive for sure. At any rate, if I'm in the area, the offerings are varied enough to merit another pass here. Come check it out for yourself as a decent time was had by all.
#bakingwithish #ubecookie #nomnom #tamarindkalamansiblacksesameroll 5/15/26 Definitely Filipino inspired-- as the creator is Filipino bakery chef, Ishnoel from Mindanao! The ube cookie was absolutely divine, moist, chewy & not too sweet, so darn scrumptious. And it's a mouthful, what intrigued me, the Tamarind Kalamansi black Sesame roll was no slouch, Jeff warmed it up & it took it to 'nother level. Love this spot. Friendly, welcoming & the goods speak for themselves. Great place to grub & meet, just chill. Located inside Blossom Market in Sam Gabriel, a communal dining hall offering, multicultural foods from different vendors. Outdoor & indoor dining available, free parking. Great for solo ding or groups, fun & cool vibes. Music playing overhead. The second floor is great for quiet times & art displays.
Been wanting to try this spot for a while and it did not disappoint! The gentleman at the front was mixing dough and was so kind! He was super patient with our "we're ready to order...no wait give us a second" confusion. The display is simple, but don't be fooled by its simplicity. The flavors are complex! The ube cookie begins with ube, middles with a pillowy sugar cookie, and ends with a touch of salt. The mochi loaf was probably my favorite. It's a warm chewy yet light batter. Every bite is a treat all on its own. The ube roll was a genius Filipino take on a regular cinnamon roll, honestly it's better than any roll I've ever tasted. The innards tasted like Dulce de leche, with teensy bits of pistachio. The ube glaze was gentle, not too sweet or overpowering in portion. Just enough ube drizzle for every bite. This bakery is located in a mess hall type situation with a dozen other spots, so it's perfect for hanging out with friends and trying new foods. There's of parking in the lot as well as lots of indoor and outdoor seating. The flavor combos at Ish's are unique, and everything is baked to perfection. I will be back soon! I need to try some pie!
Really good selection of baked goods and pies. We ordered the dulce banana cream pie, dulce bibingka pie, spam tocino cheese scone, espresso cinnamon roll, and pumpkin spice scone. Everything was amazing. The service like usual was also great, they were very kind and helpful. Overall, a really good experience.
Located in Blossom Market Hall, there's a filipino corner with Baking with Ish and Almuchow. Lots of free parking in lot. Say this on yelp and wanted to try some of the pies but on arrival I was immediately smitten with fresh baked pastries. The stall is pretty small and cramped. But all 3 were busy prepping the day's pastries when I arrived at 8:45a on a Saturday. The spam longaniza cheese scone was delicious and not dry like some scones I've had. The chicken empanada and ham & cheese croissant were good but nothing extra special. The ube black seasame roll was also good but neither flavor stood out? The mango coconut donut (sorry pic was blurred) had custard, ripe fresh mango slices, and coconut. it was very good. Guy at the counter was very helpful. I asked him about pies and he said they did have the Ube banofre pie available if I wanted a slice. he did say it was better to come around 10 AM and everything would be out and on display. I'll probably come back to try the pie and maybe something on the menu.
Baking with Ish is located inside Blossom Market, just next to Lotus & Bean. They open on Thursday until Sunday. The shop looks very clean. Their menu includes: pie either slice or thr whole pie, spam cheese pandesal, scones, muffins, and cookies. I ordered the following: - Egg Cheese Brioche $9 It was buttery, savory and had soft texture. - Blue Corn Banana Teacake $7 It had moist texture with a unique flavor and perfect sweetness. - Cinnamon Popy seed Roll $8 It wad a nice flavor of cinnamon balanced with the richness of poppy seeds. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Remember to try Baking with ish whenever you are in Blossom Market or nearby them
Baking with Ish knocked me out! (I'm literally so full and sleepy) I got the Pistachio Kalamansi, Spam Egg and Cheese Pandesal, and an Ube Cookie around 12 PM on a Friday, which totaled to about $28. The cashier and owner were friendly and seemed a little nervous, but I think they can be successful here. The Pandesal was an extremely rich sandwich with a cheesy, garlicky egg and two spams. It was delicious but so heavy and so rich. I wouldn't recommend this if you have a busy day ahead because this was so much to consume. The Kalamansi, on the other hand, was perfect. The pastry was heated up, so when I opened the box up in my car, the warm, nutty scent wafted out and filled the space. My husband and I love this pastry and will definitely be getting it for others as well.
Can't believe I almost passed up on these! I saw a constant line here, so I knew I had to get something. The mango ice box pie is the best! It's refreshing, and the ice cream makes for a fun dessert. The ube banoffee pie was also really good along with the ube black sesame roll. Service is really fantastic here too! But that mango ice box pie is probably one of the best desserts I've ever had!

You can find Baking with Ish inside the Blossom Market Hall. It is my first time so I bought two items to start with, the ones I am very familiar with being a Filipino. The Ube & black sesame roll and the Spam Tocino scone were so delicious! I love it when something so familiar is given a new twist but does not lose its essence. I highly recommend this bakery and will definitely come back! Ish is there baking and is always ready to suggest, answer your questions, and receive your compliments. read more

It was my first time in the area in a while and I am glad to try Blossom Food Hall. I tried out AK Fresh Roast and Baking with Ish. AK Fresh Roast was a 7/10 in terms of quality and taste. I liked the presentation of the drinks and overall cleanliness of the store front. I got an egg custard vietnamese coffee which the coffee was more like a light roast then a medium or heavy roast. I could not tell if there was a layer of egg custard since it tasted more like regular coffee foam. The drink itself was $6.50 and came out to $7.17 total with tax. The cup size looked like a grande size at Starbucks. Baking by Ish blew my mind with how good and new the pastries were. Maybe I'm biased as a Filipino American but I would rate Ish's baked good as 10/10. You really get a generous serving in each slice and the price is really fair. Like everything nowadays, $6 and up seems to be the norm in pricing. I got the ensaymada for $10 and the blueberry pie for $10. Total price with tax came out to $22.05. Yes $10 per baked good is more than the $6.50 drink from AK Fresh Roast but you get more food overall from Baking by Ish. The cost of labor and attention needed to present the baked goods nicely is loads better than a simple coffee drink that takes less than five minutes to make. Overall, if I had to choose between Baking by Ish and AK Fresh Roast, Baking by Ish outperforms in every aspect. read more
Came late morning on a weekday to the blossom hill market. Large parking lot next door but also wasn't busy at all. A bunch of sweets were already available and more were being made on the spot! 7/10 Ube Custard Pie $10 - crust was pretty dense and not much to it. Ube custard was very light in flavor, good consistency and sweetness. The white fluff was very rich and creamy. Helps with the slightly dry crust. Overall pricey and would not get again but perhaps rather try other items. read more
Love that food halls are popping up and are becoming a thing! Located inside Blossom Market Hall. I really wanted to like this place as so many others that have reviewed it did. Egg Omelet Brioche - was soaking wet of grease/oil.. I sadly did not like it. Tomato was just wet and no flavor. It was topped with flaky salt which helped a little. Not sure if there was some sort of citrus squeezed over top, but entire pastry was not coherent. Coconut Corn Pie - you can really taste corn with an after taste of coconut. Pie crust was not my favorite, felt dense and slightly burnt but flaky. Ube Meringue Pie - very very sweet. I now see why meringue pies are usually with a citrus. I had to remove the meringue top as it was way too sweet paired with the ube. Ube pie without the meringue was much better. Chocolate Espresso Cake - was what it was, ordinary. Cake was moist. Pumpkin Chocolate Cookie - tasted more like oatmeal and cinnamon. Missing pumpkin seasoning. Texture was good, ooey gooey soft. read more
Baking with Ish is located in the blossom market hall, alongside with other amazing small businesses ! This is a cute little Filipino inspired baked goods shop. We ordered the egg cheese brioche + the ube cookies -- SO FIYAH. This is the place to go if you have a sweet tooth like me xD the ube cookie litcherally melts into your mouth !!! sweet and soft yet a bit crunchy The egg cheese brioche was saur yummy too -- I lovvvv the oil the business owner garnishes on top. It tastes like a lemony rosemary garnish ¿ I love supporting smol businesses and Baking with Ish serves quality baked goods -- Filipino style :-) I need to come back soon to try more of their goodies read more

Super cute, small pastry shop in the Blossom Food Court. The selection is limited, but every thing is handmade and fresh. We tried the Espresso Chocolate Chip Cookie, Spam Cheese Scone, Ube Pistachio Sweet Bun, and Garlic Herb Savory Bun. All the flavors were spot on, interesting, and with a Filipino/Asian flare. The owner was there busy starting a new batch of goodies. I'm not sure how he makes such delicious treats in such a small space. The pricing is reasonable considering the Artisan nature of the product. The service was fast and efficient. The food court has always had ample parking every time I have gone, but I'm not sure if events at the mission would affect that. We will definitely be coming back again! read more

Not every bakery out there allows you to see all the work and love being invested in each creation. Ishnoelle "Ish" Chin Richardson has it all One key thing to remember about Baking with Ish is that the selections change by the day. That pie you see in your friend's story about this place? Don't go in the next day expecting it to be there. There's a chance it won't be there at all, and you know what? That's part of the fun and Ish's style. Ish is always thinking of what to do next within the confines of running his bakery. A lot of us are used to seeing the same things coming out of a bakery every time, and I appreciate that too. But I also want to see new creations regularly too. It provides a relatively newfound appreciation for the baker's hard work and creativity Ish keeps it simple yet implements his own creativity. You'll find chocolate chip cookies, cheese pandesal, and garlic ensaymada, but you'll also find blue corn bibingka, dulce de leche poppy seed buns, and coconut pandan cookies. Every now and then, Ish will experiment and do miso cookies or even anchovy cookies. At least you can try them once and brag to your friends that you tried it. Can't hurt! After all, quite a few dishes and baked goods we appreciate today were byproducts of experiments. Think the Kouign Amann, for instance. You'll also see his life partner, Jeff, helping Ish a lot at the shop, whether that is helping him zest some lemons, or even manning the shop while Ish is running a table at an event. Both Ish and Jeff are quite a team and that has totally helped with the longevity of the concept of Baking with Ish for years There's something for everybody at Baking with Ish, which is a great thing about it. You'll always have an opportunity to try something new as well. Considering that they are right next to AK Fresh Roast, getting a coffee to pair with their pastry. A win-win-win for everyone! read more

This is a Filipino bakery with southeast Asian flavors. I tried a couple of pastries while browsing the food hall, and man, everything was delicious! We got an ube mochi cookie as well as an egg and cheese brioche bun. The cookie was light and crispy on the outside with a chewy interior- perfect! I thought the egg and cheese brioche was to die for! The brioche was fluffy and light with a slightly salty/garlicky flavor and layer of cheese and egg- YUM! I can't stop thinking about it. I saw a cake in the counter that was made with fish sauce- super unique. I would have loved to try it if I had room. It seems like pastry selection changes regularly, which is great. I'll definitely come here again when I'm back in the area! read more

Everything they make is perfect! Their baked goods not only look great, but taste better! Very creative treats! Service is a bit slow, but I didn't mind waiting because the owner seemed so focused on making his baked goods look perfect. The attention to detail is obvious. The store is inside the Blossom Market place, so it can be busy at times. I got the black sesame ube bun and the spam tocino scone. They were both to die for! I will definitely go back for more! read more

Thank you Sandy, we appreciate you.
Favorite bakery in the San Gabriel Valley. The staff is friendly, including the owner Ish. This place is located inside the blossom food hall. Plenty of seating and clean bathrooms. I love that the hall has other options as far as food and drinks also. Ube black sesame seed muffin - 10/10 if you want something sweet but not over-ally sweet. The brioche bread base is so fluffy and light mixed with the ube. On top is a fluffy meringue with black sesame seeds. I recommend getting this warmed up so it's nice and warm. Brioche egg and tomatoes - 10000/10 oh my gosh it's so good I'm drooling while typing this. It's brioche based with an egg cracked on top, cherry tomato medley, some kind of light oil and a garlic flavor. It is a MUST TRY! So light and simple but perfect. Definitely crave this and come for this item specifically. read more

I've had the pleasure of visiting Baking With Ish on many occasions to try out such delicious pastries! Ube Cheese Pie - This was the first item I ever tried, and I always have fond memories of it. I remember thinking it'd be a weird combination, but taking a bite, it put a smile on my face because I actually liked the flavor combination - creamy without it being too sweet. Also, the crust for the pie has to be acknowledged. The crust was buttery and crumbly, and it made me think that the crust was made by a master baker (which of course Ish is!). It was SO GOOD! Ube Cookie - Great ube flavor, and the texture is crispy, soft, and chewy. I could eat a whole jar of it and not feel guilty at all. Sticky Buns - I've so far noticed a couple of flavors on rotation, and have been able to try both the black sesame and pandan flavors. The buns are soft and the sauce is sweet and sticky, and is made extra decadent with the pillowy meringue on top. Overall it can get on the sweet side, but who's to say cheat day doesn't exist? Baking With Ish is located inside Blossom Market Hall right next to AK Fresh Roast. You can also place an order online (www.bakingwithish.com) for seasonal whole pies and cookies. I highly recommend visiting for high quality and unique desserts and pastries. read more

After seeing and reading all the delicious sweets .... I had to come try it for myself! I'm a huge ube fan. Located inside of Blossom food hall, they are towards the Mission Dr entrance. On a Saturday mid-morning, they didn't look like they were open. The items weren't really out either .... They only had their ube cookie, part of their ube pie and two more other things. When inquiring about their selection, this was all they had since they were closed the day before and are baking that day. If I wanted their full menu, I would have to come back tomorrow. The unfriendliness and lack of eye contact was duly noted and I felt I was interrupting his setup instead of helping a customer. Maybe this guy was having a hangover from Thanksgiving holiday, who knows. But definitely not the friendly hospitality that's been shared on Yelp. Also, why even bother to open if you only have a few items for the day? Well having made the drive, I figured I'll try their cookie. The ube cookie was very good. It was moist, chewy, fluffy and sweet. I'm glad that turned around the bad experience. However I may not come back due to the unfriendliness of the worker/owner. I really dislike bad reviews so this will be a neutral review, good cookie neutralized the unfriendly attitude. read more

I received a txt from my younger sister who is celebrating her 55th birthday requesting for the Olive Oil cake from this place that she searched at Yelp. Arrived at the destination and no Olive Oil cake but whoa .... UBE galore sweets and that's okay because it's her favorite so I bought almost everything in sight to take them to the family birthday gathering for our dessert. Cheesecake ube, tresleches w/ube, cupcake chocolate ube w/flan, cinnamon bun w/ube, and ensymada w/ube topped with shredded cheese OMG... sweet heaven dessert paradise! Thank you Ish... the baked goodies were a hit and everyone enjoyed it. Definitely coming back to try other sweets and also will request for the Olive Oil cake. Awesome service! Just know that they do get very busy and when the goodies are gone... they are done for the day. Also, since the place is a food court, it is a place where you can walk around to check out other eating places which is definitely good for families and friends to gather and enjoy time together. read more

BEST SCONE EVER. I have dreams of this spam and cheddar scone. The problem I have with most scones is that it can be really dry, but not here! It's got a crisp exterior while the inside is wonderfully delicate and fluffy. The cubed spam offers the perfect amount of saltiness to the hint of sweetness of the scone. (Ish told me he puts a little honey in the batter, genius). Aside from the scone, I also adore the blue corn banana nut tea cake. The texture has a pleasant bounciness to it, the perfect chew. There are many other delectable treats available, but you def need to come before noon since a lot of them sell out. As for service, Ish and his helpers are so sweet and personable. They sure do a great job at upselling because I always just come for the scone, but I end up walking away with other goodies like their mango sticky rice pie (AMAZING BTW). I also loved that I was able to have a little chat with Ish about baking, he's so friendly and open to talking about his processes which I really appreciate as a fellow baker. The quality is always consistent and nothing is too sweet, which makes them so palatable. Dangerous, but absolutely worth a try. read more
We first heard about Baking with Ish on KCRW being interviewed at the Farmers Market getting fresh seasonal fruits to bake a peach mango pie. So we knew we had to try it when we came to Blossom market. Man, these baked treats are so worth the calories and a trek to the SGV! As someone who don't like fruit pies, I relished the peach mango pie. And as someone who especially loathe pie crusts, I savored these! Oddly, in the best way possible, the pie crust reminded me of a sweet version of crispy fried chicken skin both in texture and smell. Buttery, light, and flaky/crispy. The fruit filling highlighted the seasonality of the peaches and mangos, sweet but not cloyingly sweet and tart, with a hint of savoriness. We also got a generous slice of the fruit and merengue cake, which we also devoured. I would further elaborate on how good it was but I've ran out of descriptive adjectives and a picture is worth a thousand words. So the cake tastes as good as it looks! read more

I discovered this bakery about a month ago on an Ube Special Sunday, and what a wonderful treat it was! I tried their ube roll with meringue topping and it was one of the best desserts I've ever had. I have since been back and have tried other goodies, like the ube cookies, ube cupcakes, and most recently the ube everyday bun. One of my favorite baker/bakeshops in SGV area. I used to buy pastries from 85 degrees and paris baguette until Ish started selling in Blossom. His pastries NEVER disappoint. Some of my go-to are: the donuts, brioche, banana muffins/cakes, and cookies. On special occasions, I love the pies and the cakes. Service is always good. Ish works in the morning on his own and gets help towards around noon till the afternoon. He's BUSY. He's very nice. Please don't be afraid to ask him for assistance or any help. On weekdays, you may be lucky to get the choice of your pastries after 12 pm. But on weekends, try to get there early around 9/10 am to get your choice of pastries; anytime after 12 pm, you may miss the best sellers and weekend specials. read more

Newer spot at the Blossom Food Hall. It replaced the boba shop. I've been waiting for this place to open because on IG all the pastries look incredible. We tried the Ube Cheese Pie which was amazing and this other pastry that was a special that day - it was supposed to a mochi cake but it tasted nothing like mochi and the texture was not even close to it. I would pass on that one next time. Other than that, everything else we've tried has been spot on. read more

For the second year in a row, I have bought multiple pies from Baking with Ish for Thanksgiving and his ube pumpkin pie always wins for best pie at our gathering. (And the competition is stiff - Proof Bakery, Fat and Flour, Village Bakery which also are amazing!).... Ish's pies are so special because he only uses the best ingredients like a heritage grain (Tehachapi Grain Project) for the flour - it makes a difference for sure in his perfect pie crusts. And the other reason his pies stand out is because he puts his own Filipino American spin on his baked goods- using the highest quality ingredients. Plus they are all beautiful and stylish! This year I tried his bibinkga sticky rice pie which had a thin layer of dulce de leche at the base. It's unique touches like this that make his baked goods a special treat. Recently I tried his savory baked goods like the chicken empanada and it was the best one I've ever had due to the perfectly flaky crust and savory filling with a hint of sweetnes. Can't wait to see what else pops up at this bakery! Finally, the location can't be beat. You can get an incredible pandan ice coffee next door to ish's bakery and enjoy it with his desserts. Blossom Hall is a gorgeous food hall with easy parking. read more
