Wow wow wow. I finally made my way over here after getting two extremely strong recommendations from friends (who normally don't tell me about food places). This is now a must-go for me in Boston Commons. Everything I tried here was incredible. I got the chocolate babka loaf ($16) which was absolute perfection. It was fresh and so warm, with perfect textural contrast between the crisp glazed exterior and the warm fluffy pillowy interior, and delicious chocolate filling. This is definitely the best babka I've ever had -- maybe the best sweet bread/pastry I've ever had. My friend and I destroyed this thing in one sitting. Yes, the price is a bit high, but I would rather pay to have them make it than attempt an inferior version myself (and come to terms with how much butter is inside). This babka is a dream, and eating it in the store was an unforgettable experience. I also got the cheese stick bread ($3.75) which was everything I wanted in a savory bread - crisped up cheese, chewy soft bread, and delicious flavor. It was awesome. I also tried the bread they had out for samples -- it was so fresh and chewy and I loved it. I'm not usually a big fan of breads but Bakey has my heart and my wallet. I will be back! read more

A new bakery in downtown that serves up great pastries and coffee. Located across the street in between Park Street Station and Bolyston Station, Bakey is very convenient and accessible. I tried the chocolate babka, raspberry babka, cinnamon babka, and almond babka. I enjoyed them all but really liked the chocolate and raspberry the most. The chocolate babka is really good and it taste amazing with unsweetened coffee. I highly recommend going in the morning since they make the bread fresh in the morning. The bread taste really fresh and soft. I also really liked the Lox Bagel which had garlic flakes on top of the bagel which went well with the bagel. The servers there were nice and the place was loud so it would not be a good place to study or go to have a conversation with friends. Best chocolate babka I've ever had! We happened upon this bakery by accident, and boy were we surprised! In a quick rush, we got the goat cheese croissant and the chocolate babka. Pastries are good but the service is pretty bad. I ordered a latte and it took over 20 minutes for them to make it. During that time, the barista made the drinks for everyone else who was behind me. Including other lattes and similar coffee drinks. I had to complain twice to the cashiers to get them to recognize the latte I had paid for and finally they made it.
