When I called the store I was told nothing they can do and I should reorder delivery or come in if I want the item. I asked the manager "in short you're telling me to screw off?" and he said "100%." She always cheerfully greets me and even recognizes me, even when it's been weeks between my visits to Bakey. There's nothing better than the smell of freshly baked bread. This place is amazing! We have come here a few time for breakfast or a quick bite before/after walking around the park. So far, everything tastes good. Our favorites are the cheese stick and the potato bureka for savory pastries, chocolate or almond babka for sweet ones. Mediterranean bun was the latest try- it just came out the oven when we were lining up, and we decided to give it a try... super delicious as well, taste like a pizza bun. The food is outstanding and should merit 5 stars... but the service is consistently just off. There will be no line or only a few people waiting, lots of staff behind the counter, and no one will come by to help you, ask what you need, or that they will be over soon. I live nearby and have gone a number of times. It always feels like I'm intruding on the staff's day. Very, very odd. They don't need to be friendly, but I also don't need to be made to feel like a nuisance. Went in today about 30 minutes before they closed, and a woman in front of me bought $100+ worth of babka. Totally cleaned them out of sweet babka (whole loaf of chocolate, multiple almond pieces and multiple cinnamon). I asked if they had any other sweet items, to which I got "No. Bye." No alternatives offered, no acknowledgement that the woman just cleaned them out in a weird circumstance. Very strange. Today was my first try with ordering a large myriad of Bakey's phenomenal products... well they looked phenomenal online but I can tell you that after my family tasted them, I can confirm that they are phenomenal from all perspectives. We tried different babkas, soft bagels, muesli rolls, challah, danish rye, many spreads and they were all incredibly delicious. And, their customer service is beyond outstanding! Poor customer service with a tone and an attitude. I had been to this bakery several times in the past and had good experiences. I was also willing to pay the high prices for coffee and pastries, but today the black guy behind the counter had a tone and attitude. I do not leave my home specifically go to this bakery to have an employee treat me with such disrespect. When I asked for an espresso decaf he said with angry tone: I don't do those! But in the past I had purchased those at this bakery without any problems. When I asked for milk on the side I was given a tiny 2 ounce cup that barely lighten my coffee and when I asked for another one he seemed bothered by it. In addition, he did not inform us they were out of sugar. Yep, you heard it right. They did not have sugar at all - only Splenda. Had I known this I would not have bought the coffee.
