Best Breakfast place ever, I always get the hungry Farmer with Dutch potatoes and French toast. The French toast is made with their homemade bread which is amazing they also make a butter syrup which is to die for. I'm very picky about my coffee and theirs is smooth and just the right strength every time. My husband has done the sausage gravy and biscuits which was good, however don't salt till you taste as he over salted his. He has also done the BLT which he said was very good. Prices are reasonable and the service is excellent with all staff just so friendly. They also have a bakery you can get fresh homemade cinnamon rolls, breads, muffins, pastry's, pies, cookies etc to go. read more

I used to really love this restaurant but I had a very bad experience there on Black Friday last year. My mother and I saw one of the cooks in the kitchen making pancakes with his bare and very dirty hands. His hair was very long and greasy and wasn't in a net; he kept touching his hair and then touching the food. When he saw us he put on some gloves but... still. We were in town for the weekend and wanted a good breakfast before heading home. The breakfast was AH-MAZING! I tried the Farmer's Wife with the grilled cinnamon roll! Oh my!! It was heavenly. The grits were almost as good as mine! The coffee was perfection. I had to get a cup to go. Our server was personable and attentive even though she was juggling a couple of tables and one with a large party. If we're ever back in New Bern again, we will definitely visit!!!! read more

Recommended this spot by my wife while I was visiting. Came up from New River and it was definitely worth the drive. Such a pleasant ambience and the staff was really friendly. I thought the farmers breakfast was a little small portion-wise, but I just ordered an extea waffle after to make up for it. The syrup was bomb.com! Oh my goodness!!!!! This place was fantastic!! From the gorgeous building to the service to the food... Absolute . We ordered the Farmers Breakfast with pancakes, sausage patties, and home fries. All of it was so delicious. And the butter syrup??? I about licked my plate it was so good. We also ordered a side of squash casserole and the cucumber salad because, welp, we could . Both were absolutely amazing. Side note - if you do not like red onions, the cucumber salad is not for you. We red onions so we couldn't have been happier. Very, very good and so reasonably priced. Definitely will be back if we are in New Bern again (which was such an ADORABLE area to roam even on a chilly, windy day). read more

Food is a hard pass. The biscuits tasted more than a day old and the gravy was largely flavorless; tabsco/hot sauce to the rescue, but that was not made in house (clearly), so hard to give Baker's Kitchen much credit for having it at the table. The grits were . . . okay, I guess; damning with faint praise. Clearly we took a pass on purchasing any baked goods on the way out because who knows how old/long those had been in the case. The wait staff was good, attentive and prompt. No complaints on that front, but nothing special either. On a business trip in the area and stopped here for breakfast at the recommendation of the locals. The staff was very welcoming and we were immediately ushered upstairs, past the display of delicious-looking pastries, and provided cups of coffee. I ordered the eggs, bacon & cinnamon roll. I've never had a cinnamon roll quite like this one and I honestly was not a fan. It tasted more like a piece of dry cinnamon toast with a super sweet glaze drizzled across the top. I am used to cinnamon rolls that are more like the consistency of a donut or yeast roll with cream cheese frosting slathered on top. Since I didn't enjoy the cinnamon roll, I requested some potatoes. They were the cubed type and tasted like they had taken a bag of frozen cubed potatoes, from the local Walmart, poured them on a cookie sheet and baked them in the oven. They were dry and definitely not homemade. My co-worker ordered a veggie omelet and she shared that it was quite delicious. After finishing up, we came downstairs to use the restroom before heading out. The entire floor (front room and bathroom) was like a sheet of ice! I was barely scooting my feet across to keep from falling on my bottom! I mentioned this to the hostesses & they shared it was condensation from the humidity and would put up the wet floor sign. In my opinion, a dry mop would have been much more effective. Although the staff was friendly and welcoming, I honestly didn't feel that the food was all that great. read more

I waited to write this post so that I could be more level headed and I even placed myself in a business/owner frame of mind.. and the out come still came down to this post. I am taking to social media with this issue because as working class citizen's of New Bern who make it our business to shop with our local business owners. What took place this morning really showed how "Rich Politicians" treat their working class guess at their establishments.@7am I tried to call Baker's Kitchen to make reservations the lady whom answered the phone stated that they "Did Not Take Reservations" even tho I have been to this establishment on multiple occasions and received top level service from their wait staff "Nick & Rick" at one time or another, but I've watched as a bus of shriners in the middle of breakfast time on a busy saturday got off the trolly and waltzed inside and have been seated up stairs away from other guest "no one else"was seated up stairs with them.. but there are no reservations, there is also a men's group who also meets at this same location... again but there are no reservations.. this morning my family & I 30+ people came to this establishment in hopes of being able to eat with each other comfortably.. the waiter did the best he could by placing us all together... half way thru our meal the owners "Sabrina Bengal & Husband" came in the same area sat down at a table and kept eyeing the large group as we ate .. so I went over to them "introduced " myself and let them know that I see them looking & I hope that the waiter wouldnt get into any trouble because of us sitting togeather. She then stated well we just can't accommodate such a large party & it backs up the kitchen staff & other guest would then have to wait for their food for a longer period of time because of the largeness of our party, she said now if we would have been broken up it would have been fine.. I was taken aback as to what difference that would have made if we all arrived at the same time and were still sat at different tables, in the same area .. ‍ ppl would still have to wait to be seated & to get their food. After our conversation I walked away feeling as if the African American business isnt appreciated in large magnitudes, not once did she say thank you for coming, not once did she even try to come over and speak with us to find out how our service was. I will say this " We Eat Out Large & We Spend A Large Amount of Money that tab was atleast $300 or better & The staff also knows they get Tipped Big also. In conclusion I say this to the Bengals "If You Don't Want Our Business We Just Won't Come Back"nor will any of my relatives support anymore of your surroundings businesses that your family owns. #OurMoneyIsGreenLikeYourMoney read more

Other than that, everything was just fine - eggs were rubbery but edible, croissant was just ok, and grilled cinnamon roll was an interesting concept (and a great value at $2.50) but not particularly tasty.
