Everyone is very professional and welcoming as soon as you arrive. The team was immediately clearing and wiping down the tables and offering drink refills - Mario (I think) was very pleasant and personable. We were traveling through and ended up eating here both nights :) Fried chicken and potato salad perfection!! Open a location in Virginia Beach, PLEASE! read more

Smithfield's Chicken 'N Bar-B-Q - White meat plate, double potato salad - Barbeque Near Me - New Bern, North Carolina

Inky came because moores was out of barbecue. I'm not a fan of this type if barbecue but husband likes it. His food was good but I got a shrimp plate which was awful. Tiny shrimp with a lite batter. No taste and mushy. read more

Always solid food and iced tea! The drive through is enjoyably fast! I can count on the line moving and the service members being polite and efficient! Love this location so I don't have to go to the "other side" of MLK. read more

Food is always good and the staff friendly.. The dining room is always clean and the staff are very attentive to the customers needs.

I purchased meals from this restaurant several times.my family members from up north like it because they don't have this food chain in their area. read more

While staying with friends in New Bern, I picked up a family meal for us. We definitely loved the food. Now when I compare the barbecue pork to some of the local places I've tried now, I'd call this pretty good where the others were great. But for a small chain place, it definitely was decent quality and surpassed my expectations. The red sauce worked well with it. I personally prefer the bolder tomato-based sauces so I was quite happy. But where they won me was the fried chicken. If anyone here remembers Roy Rogers fried chicken, that's what it reminded me of. Believe me when I say that in my mind that's a very favorable comparison. And to think when I came down here I was looking forward to having Bojangles again. But having Smithfield's made me completely forget about Bojangles. And when I get back to this area, Bojangles might not make my list of must haves anymore. I so wish they were in Philadelphia. read more

The food is always hot and tastes fresh i always enjoy going there i really like all of their side items. Sometimes I can't decide what I want so then I just get 1/2 pint of everything I didn't get on my plate but I can never eat it all. Lol read more

The best fried chicken I ever had! The shrimp was amazing too. They give you a ton of food for the price. Southern people have no idea how good you got it lol Did I mention how unbelievably nice and friendly they are? read more

Smithfield's Chicken 'N Bar-B-Q - Chicken - Barbeque Near Me - New Bern, North Carolina

We always enjoy ourselves when my brothers come from out of town to visit with my sister. Of course the food is great. The staff is friendly. A big shout out to Alyssa for her great customer service and the welcoming atmosphere. Alyssa has learned the names of my brothers and even though they give her a hard time playing around with her she continues to stop by our table to see if we need anything. We enjoy laughing and talking with Alyssa!! Alyssa is a great asset to Smithfield's Chicken and BBQ. Thank you. read more

I ordered the large bar-b-q pork platter, but it was dehydrated meat. Typically, if it is a good bar-b-q or smoked meat, I tend to avoid overloading it with sauce. I'm probably in the minority, but I want to be able to enjoy the smoke flavor, but this wasn't the case. Also, I was not a fan of their vinegar bar-b-q sauce or their red sauce. While it might be a eastern Carolina thing, it's definitely was not my thing. Next, your side options are hushpuppies, French fries, Brunswick stew, baked beans, coleslaw, and potato salad. I chose the baked beans and hushpuppies. I wish they offered fried okra, which I thought was a southern dish, but maybe I have to go to South Carolina for it. In regards to the friendliness and southern hospitality, yes, really attentive, and all smiles read more

Love Smithfield's never having KFC again!!! Plus love the free refills before I left with my takeaways. Always friendly! Always great food!

The staff was friendly and service was fast. The restaurant was clean However, the pulled BBQ was not that flavorful. I would rate it a a C+ at best. read more

Pulled pork looked and tasted like dog food. It was disgusting and hands down the worst "barbecue" I've ever had. The potato salad was just as bad. Coleslaw and hush puppies were alright but I definitely won't be back. read more

Fried chicken breasts are the best. And coleslaw is very good as well. Also ordered shrimp plate. My grandson enjoyed it, but would not have been what I would have liked as popcorn shrimp. This the four star rating. I did drive thru. Woman taking order was very patient and helpful. Omar who served me at the window was especially focused on customer satisfaction and friendly. read more

I would never recommend this place. We ordered 2 bbq plates with 2 ice teas as takeaways. When we got home and opened to boxes we couldn't believe the tiny servings of bbq, beans and coleslaw. Plus the food was cold! And we didn't even get real lemons for the tea. Save your money and drive on out to Moores. read more

reminded me of meals on base, plentiful, could not finish. nothing to write home about, just ckn, tater salad cole slaw. served cafeteria style, get to meat people. you want a $40.00 meal go downtown, those girls were working hard, it was busy. take your one star reviews and stik em read more

Verdict: Winner winner BBQ dinner (Well, technically lunch). 4.5 stars. Ever feel like you're in on a local secret? That's how I felt when we came here. The signs and people all indicated this was a local favorite and I can see why. I forget exactly what the team there said but I know I felt super welcome. Didn't knew what to try so I got the Bar-B-Q plate with the beans and coleslaw. All great and the hush puppies were plentiful and massive. It was all I could do not to eat them all. Lots of people were getting the BBQ sandwiches and they looked pretty good too. I think this is the kind of place where you can't go wrong. Healthy food? No. Comfort food? Yes. Returning next visit to NC? Most definitely. read more

I've lived in NC almost two years now, but had never tried Smithfield's until today. I dined in for lunch. Wasn't sure what to get, but Mrs. Simpson suggested the bbq value pack. It was delicious! Clean, friendly employees, and good food. I'll be back! read more

I had a BBQ sandwich with slaw, fries and a Coke today. The BBQ sandwich was fresh, warm, and tasty. The Coke was refreshing. The only thing I would change about Smithfield's is their fries. I wish they had crinkle cut fries, or at least larger cut fries. Haley and Mikey took care of me and repeated the order back to me and assured that the order was right before they gave it to me... and it was. They were both very friendly, too. read more

Food was fresh and hot! Mr B was very polite. Just being nice and carrying conversation it went a long way. read more

Had dinner here Sunday night 10/24/21. My wife and I are normally fans of Smithfield's but we were disappointed in this one as it wasn't up to snuff with the other ones we have visited. Stood at the register a few minutes before getting acknowledged. Then we had to listen to the server that brought our food to us complain that she was exhausted and her feet were telling her she needed to sit down. SMFH! The food was Ok but again not up to snuff with other Smithfield's we have visited. We will pass on this Smithfield's the next time we are in New Bern. read more

One of my favorite places to get a chicken meal. Stop here often when on the road. Good fries too.

Chicken is always cooked perfectly. Moist and crunchy with lots of flavor. We look forward to getting Smithfield's chicken whenever we are passing through North Carolina. Their catering service also did a great job for our NC ( Morehead City/ Beaufort) family reunion. read more

BBQ was not seasoned, cold slaw was nasty an not chopped well, the tea had no sugar an my fries where soggy I am very disappointed in their food read more

Just picked up an early dinner at the drive-thru. Mr.B was at the window ensuring we got the correct order, and the discount with our coupon. He is such a pleasant and professional man. The order was correct, the food was hot and fresh as always. We're happy SCNB is close enough that when we choose to do a carry out, our meal it's still hot and delicious. read more

Best fried chicken I have had since moving to New Bern 2 years ago. My two pieces of dark meat, Cole slaw and potato salad were very good and the hush puppies were also good. I'm not a real big eater so I planned on having some leftovers but ended up eating it all. You are now my go to place when I'm craving some good crispy fried chicken'. read more

I've been going to this particular Smithfield's and the food and the service is always great! Ms Randy does an excellent job in getting your food to you in a professional manner. Kudos to the whole staff at Smithfield's! read more

I absolutely loved the staff! So accommodating, so friendly, so cheerful. Sadly, the food wasn't very good. The fried chicken was fresh, tasty, crispy, and juicy. And the cole slaw was OK. But nothing else was even average. The hush puppies, potato salad, and baked beans were ordinary at best, and weirdly sweet. The tiny shrimp were just ordinary. And no vegetarian options. read more

My family of 8 looks forward to our stop here on our way from PA to Topsail Island NC every year! Going on our 38th year and our 10th year stopping at smithfields! The service is outstanding and everyone is always so polite (even when they see my 4 teenagers walk in) the food is great and we always grab an extra large sweet tea for the road! True southern sweet tea! Having lived in the south most of my life I always enjoy my kids seeing the southern hospitality here that we dont get up north! So tonight I decided to feed my family from Smithfield's. I don't usually go out to eat here just due to the price increase which I totally understand. But the cashier really was impressive. She took really good care of us and greeted me with a smile. Even after I was waiting on my food I watched how she enters red with other patrons and she really takes pride in her job. I asked for her name she said Randy looked like maybe a manager. Good job. The food was great as always amd we love the red sauce it's our best part of the meal. We raised pigs in the past so BBQ is near and dear to us. Great please and friendly atmosphere. read more

Love Smithfield's never having KFC again!!! Plus love the free refills before I left with my Takeaway

My husband and I went to Smithfield's on last Thursday night, December 29. We ordered at the drive thru. There was a team member Shytequa Moss at the drive thru who provided exceptional customer service. I have visited this location several times before and those team members assigned to the drive thru were very rude and were not open to any special requests of my order. This young lady went above and beyond to show kindness, courtesy, and respect. Thank you, Shytequa for going the extra mile. read more

Yummy southern fried chicken and sweet tea sure hits the spot here! Lots of working dudes find their burgers pretty tasty also.

Fried chicken on point - check Potato salad exactly how I like it - check First time I actually wanted more hush puppies - check This place hit the spot for me, good food, clean, fast, and great service. Didn't try the BBQ so def next time. Seriously though I've never liked hush puppies I'm not from the south I never order them because everywhere I've gone I didn't like them. They came with my meal this time and I couldn't get enough lol. Came during a lunch rush too and waited just 5 min for our food to come out. 20 dollars for my wife, son and I to eat out for lunch is a great deal for me. I like that they come around to the tables and ask for your refills and whatever else especially since this is more fast food then anything. Can't wait for my next visit. read more
