First time dining in for dinner at Bakers crust the layout itself was very spacious and I love that about restaurants that I dine into because you want to have that private area of you're coming in with a date or we're friends and then of course if you want to have that group setting they do have a section where they have a booth/tables and that's always very convenient for larger parties so it's definitely a big establishment where they can cater to both a solo dinner date night or even a group setting. I actually went with a couple of friends that I met off the Yelp elite community and we decided to do a girls dinner and it was actually a very fun experience audience and I would say that the choices on the menu were very spot on of a classic girl dinner where they had a side of Caesar salad that was actually good on the flavor department, but the only thing was the salad was whole was a little bit hard to eat just because of it and be more of like a spinach base where it had a lot of the whole parts and not chopped up. That was the only thing but definitely still amazing with flavor that was one of the most flavorful salads that I've had at a restaurant. The sliders were also a good pairing for the drink that , which was blackberry bourbon, not too heavy and not to light and very more of that classic snack size to incorporate the menu itself well as well and the toppings on the burger we're classic as well as very, not overpowering with the flavor of the burger itself. The last and the best thing that any girl would love to have after a long evening is a dessert a this white chocolate coconut cake was a showstopper. It was like creamy and not too heavy and more of an airy. So glad to come back to Bakers crust after a long hiatus. A friend invited me to join her and another Yelp Elite for a Galentines dinner. The Galentine's menu contained a drink, two choices for food and a dessert I went with a cold brew martini, the sliders, the fries, and a raspberry cheesecake. Everything was fantastic. I wish I had saved enough room for finishing my dessert. I just brought the dessert home for later. A very successful Valentine's Day dinner. The place was busy. Overall, everyone at our table were happy with their dishes. I thought the service at the table was pretty good because two or three waiters constantly checked in with us. I'll admit that I'm not a huge fan of members of service teams constantly stopping by the table, but I know some folks really like this, so I don't get too out of sorts about this. I'll say I thought service at the bar could have been a bit better. In my opinion, I thought the bartender was a bit distracted by other folks eating and drinking at the bar because it took us about 5 minutes just to get his attention and 15 minutes to get our drinks. Other than that very minor blip, the staff was pretty on point. Food prices were pretty decent compared to other similar restaurants in the area. Had a great lunch here today. Sat promptly with two small kiddos and good service. Our waitress was prompt and friendly. The staff in general seemed very friendly and helpful. The food and drinks we had were awesome. My SIL ordered a Bloody Mary and she said it was fantastic and she got the grinder with the homemade Parmesan chips which were a nice change from the normal fries or chips. I had the shrimp and crab pasta which was amazing. The bacon was a tad overdone but not terrible and didn't ruin the dish. Bakers Crust is always tasty and the service is great. I think they have one of the best cheeseburgers in Hampton Roads. This time I tried their Asiago Chicken with Asparagus and Risotto and it was almost perfect. If they had only cooked it just 3 minutes longer it would have been. The chicken was just at the point of being a little chewy and the asparagus was just a little too crunchy. I know it needed 3 more minutes because, prior to dinner, my friends and I indulged in loaded parmesan chips and artichoke/spinach dip. Consequently, I was forced to take half of my dinner home. The restaurant has a cozy feel to it and was moderately packed. The clientele is about 70/30 70% old and 30% young. I think this explains why my food was kind of bland. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't great. I had a Benedict with fired chicken and bacon. The side potatoes were perfectly crisped and seasoned. The bacon on the Benedict was just a touch soft and the fried chicken was more like breaded baked chicken that lacked seasoning. I would not be surprised if they cater their food more towards their older clientele who happen to be the majority. Came back again after a while and gave some lunch items a try with the same friend. She got the roasted mozzarella and tomato panini and I got the Calabrian chicken Alfredo. Tha panini was very small and had the smallest two slices of tomato possible. It was mostly bread and lettuce. She stated at the greenbrier location it was infinitely better and more filling but she did like the soup. My pasta had potential but it came out barely warm and the chicken had a questionable texture. There was definitely spice but a lack of overall seasoning, this was a new menu item so I'd say it may need tiny more work but the potential is there. If I return, I may try the pizza. I was sincerely hoping for a better experience with the food the next time around but maybe we just had a one off both times? I went here on a Monday afternoon around 2pm, we were seated immediately in the main dining area. There were a lot of people here but it wasn't too loud so the ambiance was nice. My partner ordered a burger with a fried egg on it and said it was cooked to perfection ( he ordered it to be cooked medium ). I ordered the chicken mozzarella panini , pasta salad , and a Caesar salad. The panini was super good however I did ask for a side of aioli as it was lacking some moisture.
