Stopped in for a breakfast to go. We ordered egg and cheese sandwich which was placed on a home made roll. Which was soft and fluffy. It was one of the best egg sandwiches. As soon as you walked in there was a sweet smell of pastries in the air. Had to buy an apple critter also soft and buttery. Wish we had time to sit down and eat. The omelets looked amazing.

Definitely a great place for pastries, none of us were coffee drinkers. The food was mid as in things weren't very melted together inside the burritos- my over easy eggs were slightly overcooked, but for the price I truly thought it was great bang for your buck, and the service was super fast so we could get our day started! The atmosphere seemed cute and clean even with the heavy traffic. They will not seat you without everyone in your party fyi.

We have eaten here twice for breakfast. Delicious food. Friendly servers. Good lattes. Nice aroma of baked goods and a huge case of baked goods. Get a hearty breakfast before heading to the park.

We had a very good breakfast with good coffee and service. I enjoyed the breakfast burrito.

The most delicious donuts you'll ever eat!!

Stopped in for breakfast and it was delicious!! The next day went back for the most amazing donuts I've ever had!! Service was quick and very friendly. The place is centrally located and so cute. Too bad we just discovered this place yesterday. We're leaving the area today. Highly recommend going here!!

Went here for lunch one day while staying in Custer, SD. I ordered the cheeseburger and fries and my wife got a turkey croissant and side salad. Both were good. They have a tasty bakery case, but we passed on the goodies. We had great service.

We made it in for breakfast on the final day they were open this year. While the front case was empty and they were out of a few other things, they had everything we were wanting to get. We all got omelettes, and they were large and full of toppings. My 'all the meats' omelette actually had a little too much meat. My wife had the same view about the amount of spinach in her veggie omelette. Hash browns were good, as were the biscuits and toast. Coffee was delicious, and service was prompt and friendly. And you can't go wrong with that logo. We'd definitely go again.

Burger and fries. Bun was really awesome too - as advertised.

Fantastic food. Loved the burger and fries - and of course some tasty sweets. All the staff were very pleasing, seemed happy, and provided excellent customer service. The bakery is cute and inviting. Great job.

We had just finished our lunch at Baker's Bakery & Cafe.

Too often do I go out to eat and spend $30+ to eat bland, overprocessed garbage food. This place clearly cares are but their quality. First - the menu items are unique and everything looked delicious. The quality of the food was top notch. The Eggs Benedict was pretty dang close to perfection. I'm a snob when it comes to eggs Benedict and it's soooo nice to find a place that actually does it right. They clearly made their own hollandaise and the eggs were poached perfectly. The service was excellent as well - the waitress was always checking in on me and she was very warm and friendly. Same with all of the other staff I've encountered. Honestly it's a little pricey but youre only going to spend an additional $5-10 per person over the greasy spoon diner down the street and it's wayyyy worth it. The restaurant was also very clean and inviting. I'm so sick of going to restaurants and the menus are dirty, the bathroom is disgusting, and the ambiance is dingy. This place was clean, fresh, and well kept up. Seriously one of the best restaurants I've tried in a while.

A note about the restaurant from their website: Erik and Camillia opened Hjem A.M. in 2022 with one goal in mind: bring amazing breakfast food to the Black Hills. The food's focus is seasonality and is inspired by Scandinavian/American flavors. "Hjem" means home in Danish. Camillia and Erik found their home in Custer and want to be your home in the morning. Everything was divine. We wanted to sample the menu so we ordered "The Bob" (pancakes with lemon cream and lingonberry), Lobster eggs Benedict which they were out of unfortunately so the gave us some oysters as an apology. Their quiche of the day was a Mexican inspired elote style with a flaky crust and delightful crema, topped with some pickled onions. Their hollandaise was likely the best I've ever had. The accompanying potatoes and hash browns were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Ashly ordered a sausage patty that included a few chili flakes to wake up the tastebuds. I'd mentioned Ashly's birthday and they brought out a birthday treat - rice pudding topped with dried apricots and granola. And a candle on the side. We certainly felt at home at this lovely place. It had a charming decor and the service was top notch. Be sure to stop by on your next trip to the Black Hills.

Absolutely loved Skogen! We are on a road trip back to Michigan with a weekend stop in Deadwood and decided to add a stop in Custer this time around as well and, gratefully and thankfully, we were able to secure a reservation. Again, Skogen was AMAZING! We sat in the outside patio area which was cozy and comfortable. Because I have acclimated to 115 degrees in Arizona summers, the 79 degree temperature was a bit chilly so I grabbed a super warm blanket that was supplied and they offered to turn on the heaters. I know it sounds ridiculous to most people who travel to South Dakota. Honestly, Arizona ruins you for everywhere hahahhah. Anyway, I thought it was super kind for them to make me comfortable! It was greatly appreciated! Service: Our server, Curtis, was fantastic! He catered to our every whim! He was personable and friendly and we had a very nice conversation. He helped me decide the best entree between two of my choices and it sure didn't disappoint! Excellent service! Food: The hubby and I shared the lobster steam buns were phenomenal. I mean, if you're reading this and you're going to Skogen, don't hesitate. Just order them. I wasn't a fan of Hollandaise prior to trying theirs, so I asked for it on the side. I literally could have licked the Hollandaise sauce. It was light, airy and absolutely scrumptious! The lobster was delicious and delicate and perfect! We both said we could have eaten the entire four buns by ourselves--and not shared! They were incredible! I had the halibut with asparagus and fingerling potatoes. It was absolutely delicious! The hubby had the duck confit. The white bean preparation with the smoked bacon was amazing but the duck---what magic have you created? It was tender with crispy skin and so moist! Dessert was shared and consisted of the chocolate cheesecake with pistachio ice cream. Unbelievable! So delicious! We had the honor of meeting the owner, Joseph, and shared a wonderful conversation with him. We loved his passion and enthusiasm for his craft, his love of people and we never felt like he was rushing to get back to doing what he needed to do. We truly felt like we were guests at his own home dinner table, sharing stories. It was really a lovely experience from start to finish. We just loved Skogen and look forward to coming back any and every time we manage to swing back into this wonderful town. We have really fallen in love with Custer!

They even were really accommodating for my son who just wanted a plain ol' meat and cheese sandwich (and they'll conveniently wrap up what you don't eat to take home!). I was so happy they had gluten-free bread available. Then the question was if I could have some of the meats so they were happy to look at the ingredient lists for me, which I really appreciated. I got the Italian and it was loaded with meat, mostly pepperoni, which quite honestly I would have done differently. I would have placed more emphasis on the other meats, but still, it was very good. Now were I dock a star is the sad gluten-free bread they gave me. It was clearly the last two slices of the loaf (yes, I got the butt) and if you know gluten-free bread, you know those slices at the ends are VERY SMALL. They don't like quite so small in my photo, but they were. I would personally not have served a sandwich using those. It made it hard to eat because the meat was so much larger and really, I kinda just felt like I was gypped a little. The interior itself isn't anything special...at all, lol. But I can get over that when they at least had a few tables to sit at and the employees were helpful and kind. I would make your way here if you're passing through!
