Oldest saloon in Black Hills. The decorations are amazing and fit the lifestyle. Our bartender is full of information and so sweet. You can order food from next door and they bring it over. Did I tell you they have a German Shepherd named Hero.

Our favorite watering hole in Custer!! Ellie and the gang were fantastic, friendly and fun. We couldn't have found a better spot to hang out in during our visit. Do yourself a favor and stop by for a great experience.

I am so glad we stopped here! It is a locals bar, but it is the oldest saloon in the black hills! Bartenders were nice and the atmosphere was great!

Went in to have a steak dinner and couldn't even get a beer! We sat there for 25 minutes then left. It was very disappointing.

The bartender just had a little bit too much attitude. They didn't like my money and the service was slow so we left.

Very unique place with great service. I couldn't get over the decor and all the mining themed stuff, also the food was good too!

More than just the intrigue of being the oldest saloon in the Black Hills, it's also a modern day well-stocked bar.

I had the Walleye Chermoula, and all I can say is...wow. The fish was perfectly cooked, and the subtle North African spices in the chermoula complemented the walleye without overpowering it. It was one of the best dishes I had on the entire trip. As always, we travel with a long list of dietary restrictions. My wife has gluten and dairy allergies, while I manage Alpha Gal syndrome, a tree nut allergy, and diabetes. Our server was outstanding. I didn't write down her name, but she took the time to understand our food sensitivities, answered our questions, and made sure we were comfortable with our meal choices. The attentive service really elevated the experience. The restaurant has a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. It would work well for a casual business lunch or dinner, and families with small children should feel comfortable here as well. Its location is another plus. It's just off the main tourist area in downtown Custer, making it easy to walk to after exploring the shops, and there is convenient parking nearby. This was an easy five stars for us. If you're near Custer, Custer Wolf should be on your short list. Highly recommended.

The first challenge was…read moreparking--it was extremely limited, and I had to circle the building several times before a space finally opened up. When I went inside to the bar to pick up my order, there were two male bartenders working. One was deeply engaged in a lengthy conversation with another customer about different beers, while the other appeared to overlook me, even though I was the only other person waiting. After standing there for a while, I finally spoke up and let him know I was there to pick up a takeout order, and he then assisted me. We ordered the bulgogi dish. It was decent, though it was more of a stir-fry than the traditional bulgogi I was expecting. Overall, the meal was okay, but it didn't stand out enough that I would make a point of returning.

Starter and food, drinks, etc., are brought promptly to the table. This is exceptional in a highly popular tourist area. The food is good but could use a little improvement--the grilled mahi-mahi was good, but a little on the dry sauce and definitely needed a sauce. A couple of the dishes did have sauces, but fish is why most Creole restaurants like Brennan's will serve a sauce on the side, or a topping with butter such as Trout Almandine. It doesn't have to be a fancy sauce--the option of good ol' tartar sauce works. The grilled vegetables also needed a little more butter and seasoning. Carrots are good on their own; broccoli and cauliflower need a little cheese or butter and some seasoning to be loved. The IPA (Long John) was excellent. The beer cheese dip and soft pretzels were to die for; the chardonnay was passable. A great choice for dining in a VERY heavily traveled tourist destination. Get there early--it starts filling up fast and all the restaurants around Mount Rushmore close at 9.
