Place is a gem. Clean, fast service and friendly staff. Only open from 6:30 to 11 am. Wifey ordered crustless quiche which ended up being a modest sized serving containing cheese and veggies. I'd call it petite. I had the breakfast burrito with sausage and a blue berry muffin. Both were average in size. We sad outside on one on their decks, which was delightful, and sipped coffee until mid morning. Place was very convenient being a short walk from the Bavarian Inn. Prices were ok, certainly not a deal given what was brought to the table. Would need to try a few different menu options before making a strong recommendation. Worthy of checking out.

Cute atmosphere, different seating areas including outside patio, good food selection. I had the black hills breakfast wrap with bacon and really enjoyed it. The fruit cup was very small for the price. The coffees were tasty with cute cups. The waffle bites looked and smelled delicious. They were out of the cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting that we planned to try, so I'm guessing those are very good too.

Food was great and such a cute design inside. Also dog friendly which we appreciate as we travel with our dog.

Their twist on at Monte Cristo...soooo good!! All I can say is raspberry...YUM!!

Super friendly staff and great food. My daughter thought it was the best croissant ever. The oat milk latte was delicious.

Such a great place and super friendly staff. The food and drinks were great but what really puts this place at 5 stars is the people. They came and sang to my daughter for her birthday and her celebration pancake nachos. Little touches throughout make this place special like the candle being self-relighting, their logo branded onto the burrito and always smiling. We will be back next time we are in the area.

This place is the best! From darling decor, great service, and EXCEPTIONAL food. Not to mention the pricing is unbeatable for the quality. We got the Asiago breakfast sandwich & Nutella pancake nachos. If I lived here, l would be a regular. 12/10. Bring your loved ones here to start your day right!

Avocado toast is the best I've had in Colorado. God vibe in the place, too. I'd recommend this place for a lighthearted date, too.

Fresh oysters for breakfast...in South Dakota? Yes, please!…read more My wife and I stumbled upon this gem on a recent trip through the Black Hills. A note about the restaurant from their website: Erik and Camillia opened Hjem A.M. in 2022 with one goal in mind: bring amazing breakfast food to the Black Hills. The food's focus is seasonality and is inspired by Scandinavian/American flavors. "Hjem" means home in Danish. Camillia and Erik found their home in Custer and want to be your home in the morning. Everything was divine. We wanted to sample the menu so we ordered "The Bob" (pancakes with lemon cream and lingonberry), Lobster eggs Benedict which they were out of unfortunately so the gave us some oysters as an apology. Their quiche of the day was a Mexican inspired elote style with a flaky crust and delightful crema, topped with some pickled onions. Their hollandaise was likely the best I've ever had. The accompanying potatoes and hash browns were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Ashly ordered a sausage patty that included a few chili flakes to wake up the tastebuds. I'd mentioned Ashly's birthday and they brought out a birthday treat - rice pudding topped with dried apricots and granola. And a candle on the side. We certainly felt at home at this lovely place. It had a charming decor and the service was top notch. Be sure to stop by on your next trip to the Black Hills.

Staff were friendly and quick. Note for queer safety: this business didn't have any explicit pride flags but also didn't have decor that suggests it wouldn't be welcoming. There is only one bathroom which is all-gender. I was not the only visibly queer person there the day I went. We chose this one and unfortunately it didn't do much to make us feel comfortable. Several menus we saw online indicated breakfast served until 3, which I love but unfortunately when we got in, the physical menus said breakfast served until noon. Not the worst thing ever but it was a let down right away. With our orders my husband chose a side he thought sounded great but they were out of the jumbo mushroom side. Again, not a big deal but maybe just note that they may not have what you're looking for there. I ordered my sandwich with sauce on the side and felt frustrated when it came on the sandwich. I'm always willing to try a sauce, but the waitress told us she had noticed the sauce incorrectly added to the sandwich and the kitchen told her they were sure I would enjoy it. Personally I didn't appreciate the kitchen staff saying such a thing and in the end I avoided the sauce all together. I appreciated that the kitchen was able to remake my sandwich in the end but still felt frustrated. The waitress brought us a couple prepackaged donuts to apologize, which was very thoughtful. The last problem was actually the menu again. At the beginning I took a photo to upload here, since I was upset about the incorrect menu. I saw that our receipt prices were higher than the menu. When I brought this to their attention they responded that any restaurant in the area would be like theirs-higher prices due to tariffs affecting the area in the last year. In the end, I would not recommend this place to visitors.
