Renter Beware! Reserved a specific cabin (#7) for this years 2025 Sturgis Rally. I made the reservation 1 yeat in advance with a deposit. Upon arrival, without notification, they Cabin 7 to someone else. I specifically reserved it for the convenience of easy access and ample room to part both my truck and Harley. When the front desk people told me they moved me to another cabin behind #7, they said someone else needed that cabin because of camping gear and closer trailer access. They cabin they moved me to did not even have enough room for both my bike and truck. When asking for an explanation, Twila, the manager said "I dont like your attitude and if you don't like it, stay somewhere else". Even after reserving a specic cabin with a deposit, they don't care. I traveled all the way from California and Twila knew that finding new accommodations under $1000 a night would be impossible. Never trust the cabin you reserved will be available and be prepared to ask to leave if you dont like it! read more

Upper basic sites and very pretty sites on forested slope. Very nice staff and close to town. Would def stay again!

We had a great time at the this campground. Everyone is very nice and willing to help. Twila, Deb, and Brandon provided great customer service. The price was very reasonable for a cabin at $60 a night. They have a nice lobby, wifi, laundry, pool, free coffee from 7 to 9 am, maps and so much more. The best cabins I think were 9, 10, 3, and 4 because they are closer to the restrooms. Enjoy Custer Crazy Campground! read more

We enjoyed this camp ground. Host were friendly and helpful. Camp grounds were clean. Showers were clean and water was hot!

We stayed in a little cabin here. This campground is a nice little place. Very quiet and relaxed. Bathrooms were clean and showers were nice. It has a nice pool. The cabin was just right. Nice fire pit and little charcoal grill. It had decent parking for our car. It also had a water hydrant. We would definitely stay here again. read more

Place was awesome we were out camping in a tent for 6 nights at Custer State Park and this place was really close out of the park. I googled cabins near my location and this place popped up. We got a cabin to sleep 4 and I think the cabins accommodate for more. Right away after viewing the cabins we were pleased the staff and owner are so friendly. The showers and bathroom were fresh and clean. The campground accommodates for tent/cabins and RV with a fire pit and grill at each site. We almost wished we found this place sooner. The store at registration has groceries/souvenirs/ice/ice cream and other few goods for campers and visitors. On a camping trip in the Black Hills from Chicago, we sheltered out a storm in one of their cabins for a couple nights. These are camping-cabins. No indoor plumbing and you'll supply all of your sheets/blankets/pillows, but they're nice solid cabins w/ room for 5 on comfy beds. Each site for tent, cabin or RV seemed to have a picnic table, fire pit and grill. The bathroom facilities are well-kept and offer a nice hot shower! We really enjoyed our stay here! Best thing about this place is the relaxed and friendly atmosphere! Twilla, her husband and Debbie are super welcoming and friendly. They'll escort you to your site w their dogs in tow to make sure you're settled in--that's a nice change from other large sites that leave you on your own to find it or give you a maze of a map w a circle. Camping Spots are unbelievably muddy when it rains, spots are narrow and difficult to navigate around, firepits are literally just metal rings that they move, showers are clean, but have absolutely ZERO water pressure and water only came out the bottom 3 holes. Uneven ground. read more

Camp ground was clean, and well maintained. The office staff was very nice as well. It's very family friendly, and The kids enjoyed the pool! Our biggest problem was that we were right on top of our neighbors! our picnic table was literally inches away from their sewer drain so every-time they dumped we got to enjoy the smell and view of our neighbors poo being drained! There was no space to move things. The kids had no play area either at our camp and we couldn't even set up corn hole it was so tight. read more

I called ahead on behalf of my family from Colorado who were in the area touring Mt Rushmore. Todd and Twila were immediately accommodating and made it so easy for my family to set up. They reported back to me that the facility was clean and easy to get to. Above all, they were overwhelmed with the kindness shown them by Todd and Twila and the rest of the employees at the campground. Our Winnebago group stayed here and were treated like royalty! Sites were long & Level, Firepits were legal, bathrooms & Showers were clean, store was well stocked, and newish owners Twila & Todd were very accommodating. Except for sites along road, most were shaded by pines. Nice pool. Lots of improvements being made to level & enlarge sites. Would definitely stay here again! read more

Under new management! The new managers are awesome. Very friendly and they are restoring the park (beautiful, by the way) back to a wonderful get-a-way location. Although there is some road noise, the park is clean, the camper cabins cozy and very clean, and the restrooms and private showers are immaculate. I would stay here again. read more

Nice family owned campground. We spent 4 nights here. We were escorted to our site and they even offered to setup our trailer. Never had anyone offer to do that before. We are retired and travel extensively. The bath houses were nice and very well maintained. The campground also looks good. The evenings were cozy with a few fires going to take the chill off. read more

Price was right for 1 night. ..we did not need hookups. Pull through spots great, but not level and very narrow. We asked for fire wood - twice, never got any! !! Good thing the gas station nearby had plenty! Maybe try something closer to Mount Rushmore or the State Park. read more

I stayed here alone on a cold holiday weekend in October. I was the only person tent camping and while the proprietor thought I was crazy (it was going to be only 29 degrees that night), she was so nice and helpful! I felt completely safe even as a young woman traveling alone in an unfamiliar place. I LOVED the very clean, very hot shower which I (desperately) needed after four nights of camping in national parks. This campground is literally down the road from the Crazy Horse Memorial and close to Mount Rushmore, Custer, SD and some of the national parks and monuments. We stayed here for 6 nights in July 2018. Great, friendly, accommodating, 2-generations of new owners who work hard to improve it and keep it very clean. Restrooms have been updated with new sinks, lights, etc. which are kept exceptionally clean. Many trees between campsites, - not crowded. We readily recommend it with no hesitation. This is one of my favorite campground. It is nested in a a beautiful setting a high ground with a lot of pines. My family have been camping here in the last 10 years I've never write a review before. What a great campground! We stopped there for a night after a long drive across the state. We were happy with how clean the cabin and the bathroom/showers were. Not to mention the kindness and attentiveness of the owners and staff. They were so welcoming. We had a great time by the campfire in the evening. First thing the early morning, the owners warmed up the pool for us and even brought out pool toys for our kids to play with. They were so excited about our family being the first to use the pool. We plan on going through the area again and when we do, we plan to camp there longer. read more

Staying at the Custer Crazy Horse Kampground was exactly what our family needed! The resort is close enough to Deadwood and Custer sites that everything is within a convenient driving distance. The nicest feature is that it is close to everything, but just outside of the tourist features of the area. The resort is under new management, and the owners are full of energy. They work hard and long hours, but yet take time to chat and asked if we needed anything. We appreciated the pet friendly environment. Little baggies located throughout the grounds would be helpful so that dog owners could "pick up" after their canine friends. We will also remember to bring our dog's collar with her name & our cell phone number just in case she wanders away. We are looking forward to returning to the Kampground when we can get another week away this summer. This is the ideal location and accommodations for a family reunion! read more
