We randomly came across Miner's Cup while driving along Mt. Rushmore Road, and it ended up being one of those places we're really glad we stopped at. It's a tiny setup with only a few parking spots and a drive-through, but they make great use of the space. The menu is surprisingly extensive for such a small spot -- specialty coffee drinks, Lotus energy drinks, breakfast sandwiches, wraps, and plenty of quick meal options. We tried the cappuccino, caramel macchiato, and the Gold Digger sandwich with chicken, avocado, roasted tomatoes, and provolone on ciabatta. Everything tasted fresh and satisfying. What I liked most is that they don't try too hard to be trendy or overcomplicated -- it's simply well-made coffee and solid grab-and-go food. Service was great. We frequented this place so much that we made 3 stops during our vacation! What a gem of a place to have in the city of Custer! Many times they were busy and they handled the rush so well... we were quite impressed! I enjoy stopping at various coffee shops to try them out and this one has been memorable for me. The flavoring is always on par + so smooth. Their customer service is great and timely. The look of their shop and option of drive-thru a plus! I feel like you can't go wrong with this place + they really are a standout coffee shop. I even purchased a tumbler from them to remember our times out in Custer with. The coffee is exceptional as well, I had the sweater weather and the German chocolate flavors were phenomenal! I had a seasonal honey badger latte. It was a little sweet but even my non-coffee fans liked it! It's also one of the best espresso based drinks I've found in the black hills. Picked this up for breakfast two days in a row on our way into the park. While you can order online, we decided to park and walk up to the ordering window. They took our orders and gave us a buzzer, then after about 15 minutes enjoying the umbrella-shaded patio on the side, we walked back to pick up our coffee and breakfast sandwiches/burritos. The Prospector was on the smaller side, but I was still only able to finish about half of it. It was nicely packed with a good amount of meat and cheese, and a surprisingly large amount of fresh avocado. The server recognized us on our second day back and was witty and friendly with both of us. This coffee shop was practically out the front door of our hotel (Chalet Motel). We have been to Custer several times and we did not know it was there. It is a drive thru or call to go place. They do have a walk up window which I used twice. There were many choices of coffee and several breakfast sandwich options. Everything I tried was very good. The staff was super friendly and helpful. This fantastic lil drive thru makes the best burritos! I swung by mid-morning and had to wait a while since I was fourth in line, but I'll tell ya it was worth it! My meal consisted 16 oz Dirty Chai Latte ($5.50), a Wild West breakfast burrito (sausage, egg, hash brown, caramelized onions, bell peppers, shredded jack cheese on a flour tortilla, $6.00) and a piece of Coffee Cake ($3.50). The burrito was phenomenal! It was huge and generously stuffed with the goods. They used a hash brown patty instead of loose shreds and I absolutely loved it. I didn't even need any hot sauce like I nearly always want on my breakfast burritos. It was SO DAMN GOOD. I'm astonished it was only $6.00. The Dirty Chai was perfectly made! Just the right amount of sweetness and richness. The Coffee Cake was alright. I thought it kind of tasted greasy, however it was super moist which was great. Miner's Cup came highly recommended, so my family and I checked it out on the way out of town - we're really glad we did! It felt like a cozy little spot, and despite what seemed like a long line, our service was quick. My pineapple Lotus Energy smoothie with passion fruit popping boba was delicious! They had a lot of good flavor combinations available that day, but I had to stick with one, and the combination I picked payed off. Simple, but refreshing. Favorite coffee stop!!! We went every day our last trip, only got by once this trip but just as good as we remembered.

This place gets really busy. I just stopped by for a couple of cups of coffee. The coffee was OK, but I would've preferred stronger coffee. They do have options for non-dairy creamer. The line for the drive-through in your car is fairly short, but you can park on the side and go to a walk up window. The guy in front of me ordered online and they told him 15 minutes, but when he got there they told him it would be 15 more minutes. The breakfast menu looks good, I may try that later this week. UPDATE: I ordered online a few days later and went to pickup at the 15 minute time the app told me. My arrival time was about an hour earlier than my prior visit. Everything was ready and perfect, including all of the drink and food modifications. The app told me that MC was out of the wrap that cane with my sandwich, but I was ok with a flour tortilla substitution. Tasty food at a good price. MC recommended an Americano for stronger coffee, and it does taste much better that the regular drip. Preface-- be patient or order ahead. It is a small coffee shop with a nice menu with a drive through. So keep that in mind especially if you're in a rush, might need to go elsewhere depending when you get there and the line ahead. Otherwise, they are fairly speedy at getting your order through. With that said, we really enjoyed this coffee/breakfast grab and go location. The barista (we had the same one both days) was a really nice young man. Provided great service at the window. Got our orders fast. The menu is simple and we like that. Nothing complex to ensure it's done well. The old timer biscuit sandwich is my favorite and my husband enjoyed their lone star wrap. Made well, not very salty or greasy! The coffee is fair. I liked it but if you enjoy bold dark flavor coffee, their blend might be on the light-medium side. Ran into this cute little drive thru coffee shop on our trip to Mount Rushmore by accident. I was so glad we did because the food here is fresh to order and the flavors are amazing! My family was so impressed with the good service and quality of food that we wished we would have had time to stop before leaving Hill City.
