Wow! What a great place! They have every kind of old fashioned candy you can think of! Talk about a trip down memory lane. I was pointing everything out to my kids with such excitement! We stopped in after visiting Rapid City and Mount Rushmore. We bought homemade chocolate, candy cigarettes, a giant peanut butter cup, cinnamon toothpicks, rock gum, candy sticks, red and black raspberry candy, gold coins and so much more. We also got a waffle cone with delicious peanut butter and chocolate ice cream.

Deb was SO amazing. Kind, efficient, and hardworking, even though it was busy and she was the only one working. She needs a raise!

Ice cream and fudege what could you ask for? Pricing is what you would expect at a tourist trap.

Great assortment of candies, fudge, smoothies, ice cream. Nice staff. And easy parking right in the middle of town.

Cute store! The staff is so friendly and so sweet, and there are basic as well as fun, South Dakota specific candies. Worth the stop :)

As a chocoholic I often find places like these don't measure up but this one really did. As to the truffles and stuff we bought - we did not have that concern because they did not last long. YUM!

I really want to give this a higher rating, but I can't…read more Pro's: 1. If you're tourist, its proximity to the motels on Mt. Rushmore road is handy as you'll drive right by it if you're going to Mt. Rushmore. 2. If you're a total chocolate addict and MUST have some chocolate, it's quick and easy here. 3. The staff are very nice. 4. They do have very, very cute gifts. But, as a chocolate snob, I don't taste the best ingredients in their truffles. It tastes like there's some sort of emulsifier/hardner in their chocolate, paraffin? Artificial ingredients or stabilizers, preservatives? Not the best brand of chocolate to begin with, slightly too hard for the true consistency a Truffle should be. If you're wanting a quick treat, or a cute gift for someone, this is the place to go to, but if you're a serious chocolate lover or Truffle snob, it's worth the 45 minute drive north to Deadwood and go to Chubby Chipmonk instead. They might have fabulous caramels, or brittle, or other goodies, but not the Truffles.

My husband and I spent oodles of dollars there over the years. I have since moved from the area, and on a recent visit "back home," I was dismayed at the changes to what used to be a charming little store, and a real gem in the Black Hills. The business was recently sold, and the new owners have turned it into a pitiful version of the charming business it was for years and years. They got rid of all of the vintage antiques. They now devote almost half of the store to fabric and quilting supplies. It's ironic that they carry such a vast amount of kitschy made-in-China crap, especially when so much of it touts ultra-right conservative, "patriotic" sentiment. I left the store feeling disappointed, offended, and just downright sad. Because I still have family in the Black Hills, I will come back often for visits, but will never spend another dollar in the store I once loved.
