Such a cute little store right on the main street. As we were waking up they were making and stretching the taffy in the front of the store. It's fun to watch them making it from the street. They have so many different flavors! They even have some sugar free options. I was a little disappointed that when I went they were out of some flavors. I picked out a 1/2 pound of assorted flavors and paid around $4.50. The taffy is delicious (and I'm normally not a taffy fan), but I would stop by again if I was in town. read more

I'm normally, not a "sweet tooth" person, but this place makes me change my mind. Their taffy is made daily, and the old-fashioned way with good ingredients. There's nothing corporate about this place. The old taffy pulling machine looks like it's from the 1950's but still works. They have an amazing variety of taffies to try that are made daily. In fact, you can watch behind the glass, as the old taffy machine stretches it. My favorite is buttered popcorn, a must try--though I have a friend who swears the cinnamon is the best. The only thing that doesn't strike me as yummy is the jalepeno-flavored taffy. A word of caution though if you try their "sugar-free" taffy. It's excellent, but it's made with Malitol. So that means it can really upset your stomach if you have more than 2-3 sugar-free pieces. My mother and I stupidly split a bag of the sugar-free and were dreadfully ill for about two hours. However, the regular taffy is fine, and you can make a pig of yourself without any stomach problems. Frankly, "The Black Hills Railroad Gift Depot," "The Indians" and this taffy place are about the only decent traps worth hitting up along the strip. The rest have too much crap that is tacky and not made in the Black Hills. read more

A specialized shop with great hand pulled taffy that you can watch being made and wrapped. Lots of grate flavors. We tried. Lot and ended up buying six pounds. I Cant give 4.5 so I'm giving them 5 stars. Reason I would have gone a touch lower is because it was a little disappointed in the friendliness of the taffy maker. He was behind the glass doing his work and pretty much wore a scowl ignoring people watching. It was interesting and would have added to the experience if he had interacted a bit. Or at least smiled. Ordered the taffy online and it came within 10 days they shipped it UPS which is nice: I honestly think the taffy is much better when you order it there or maybe in the summer months when they are busier . So far the taffy I tried was hard and hard to chew . Not the soft squishy kind I had when I was there in person . They have a good flavor though . I picked the flavors I wanted which guarantees I don't get a crap flavor one that I wouldn't eat . I still am giving it a 4 because of the time I was there . Very affordable. Lots of flavor varieties. A surprise for me here was being able to see the taffy get made. A glass enclosed room at front provides awesome viewing. The machines are many decades old & I like that they were still in use & well taken care of. This was a cool stop on my way to Mt. Rushmore. I never would've known about it if I didn't sit next to a very cool woman that works here on a flight to Rapid City. She told me that I will pass through Keystone on my way to Mt. I usually don't write reviews, but my husband and I were pretty disgusted with the customer service we received. We've been to this Taffy Shop many times in the past, not sure if there is a new owner or what but we've never had such bad service. We walked in, there was 3 very young kids working. The 2 girls working completely ignored us, acted like they didn't see us when they totally did. They were just goofing off and kept walking by us ignoring us. Then one of the girls pulled this boy up off the floor, who was just sitting on the floor not doing his job and the other girls left. The boy stands up all slouchy and blowing bubbles excessively with his gum (he looked like he was maybe 13) and just slouches against the counter. Still nobody has said hi or acknowledged us to the shop yet and it had been at least 5 minutes. He just stood there ignoring us blowing bubbles until we finally asked if we could purchase some taffy. He was super unprofessional when he did help us and rather rude. I'm hoping the owner of the shop reads this and does something. I've worked in customer service most of my life, and never would this behavior be tolerated. read more
