    Lemon blueberry hand pie

Pastries are absolutely delicious! Loved the lemon blueberry hand pie. The pastry was croissant like-flaky with the lemon highlighting the delicious blueberry filling. We went there every day we were in Rapid city. Coffee was ok but the pastries were outstanding!

A cute bakery! Lots of sourdough loafs, pasties, and drinks to choose from! The coffees and cold brews were quite solid! Recommended to us by a local, it was a good place! Lots of seating

Well that was delicious. Cute little spot with a large drink menu and all of your sourdough needs. The bread looked delicious but unfortunately I was hopping on a plane so I just got a few pastries. The chocolate croissant was so tasty and a more generous dose of chocolate than many that I've had. So nice and flaky. The morning bun was perfect. It's the best I've had in a long while. Great flavor, nice crisp on the outside, and so soft and flaky inside. The staff was super nice and efficient. If I'm ever back in rapid city I would most definitely be back here. Don't be deceived by Google/Yelp hours. We visited on Tuesday mid morning and they were open!

This spot is buzzing with customers, and is a really nice cafe space. I'm visiting out of town, and my sister recommended this spot. My partner and I got a loaf of sourdough bread and shared a breakfast bun. It was topped with ham and cheese and had a large egg baked inside. It was filling and delicious, and I'd definitely come back to try their other items :)

Lifesaver for quick breakfast and good brew of coffee. Needed a change from my hotel's breakfast selection and this place was just across the street. Delightful interaction and great service. Also very clean and smelled like everything was fresh out of the oven. Great value for the price! The cinnamon rolls were huge! The coffees were also fresh and well made. Will come back whenever I am in Rapid City!

I stopped in for a quick bite before exploring the area. I ordered a ham and gruyere sandwich with a hot green tea as a beverage. Both were absolutely delicious and I would stop in again for the same order or to try something new. The staff was friendly and the inside space seemed cozy although I didn't eat in. I would recommend it if you're in the area.

The star of my trip to rapid city! We just loved it here. Delicious treats all made of sour dough! The first time we came, we had the breakfast sandwich with the fluffy egg and bacon. You can choose between the spicy sauce and the truffle-- the spicy was more of a sriracha, not too hot, we preferred the truffle. The sea salt chocolate chip cookies were to die for-- we had to come back a second trip to get more! I also took a loaf of the honey blueberry sour dough back home-- my family said it was the best bread they ever had! The almond croissant was solid. There is areas to sit and relax. The workers were very nice. This is a must the next time you're in rapid city .

The Sour is a true destination bakery - I plan my trips to Rapid City to coincide with their opening hours (e.g. closed Mon/Tues) - and I dream about their sourdough creations in between every visit. Whenever I'm in RC means at least one stop at The Sour for pastries (the sugar-dusted morning bun and the caramel-encased kouing amman are standouts, but the almond croissant and cinnamon rolls are also worthwhile treats) to share with my local family, and another to pick up a loaf or two of bread to bring back to Colorado with me; the Pain de Mie and Oat Porridge loaves are truly delicious for sandwiches or morning toast, and they freeze well if you overbuy, as I typically do. And let's not forget the lovely cafe workers! Oh my goodness, the service is great - so welcoming and helpful, even when there is a line. On my last visit I learned that their tea and coffee drinks are delightful, too - and it's no problem to take anything to go, since the cafe tables fill up quickly on the weekends.

What a great bakery. Everything is made with starter including the pastries which is quite unique. This bakery is as good as the best we have found in the Seattle area. Everything was super fresh, great texture, and great flavor. We even bought a loaf of bread and took it home with us. I have definitely had a better sourdough loaf, but it was still great quality and made amazing sandwiches back at home. You can't go wrong with any of the pastries. We tried the blueberry cheesecake brioche, the cinnamon roll, the kouign amann, and others. Excellent.

Everything very good but very hard to get into parking is really an issue. Very few parking spaces available on street and no parking lot.

This restaurant was one I found during a trip to Rapid City, SD and through YELP, so shout out to…read moreYELP. This is very much a diner style restaurant in the very best sense of the word, "DINER." The night I dined here, it was somewhat after the usual dinner rush, so the crowds were gone and the hostess led me to a corner booth near the back of the restaurant and handed me a menu. Like many diners you may have eaten at, the menu at COLONIAL HOUSE is huge. As I get older, huge menus are becoming more intimidating because they offer a large volume of selections that you have to choose from while a server is waiting (sometimes not all that patiently). That having been said, there is enough variety on the menu here that if you can't find something you'd like, you are probably a very picky eater. One surprise and also an intimidating one was the humongous portions that are delivered when your plate arrives. I knew immediately that I would not be able to finish the meal and resolved not to try and ask for a take-out box once I ate what I could finish. My dinner (what I managed to eat was excellent) and the server had no problem providing me with a take-out box. The food kept well in my hotel's room fridge and reheated well the next day for lunch. The baked products at COLONIAL HOUSE were a feast for the eyes and I ordered a piece of strawberry shortcake to take with me back to my hotel. Mouthwatering delight! If you are visiting Rapid City and want to completely SKIP over the far too numerous chain restaurants in the area and get far better food brought to you by servers who actually seem to like their jobs and the reputation of their employer, look no further than COLONIAL HOUSE. Just make sure you come with a completely empty stomach and a big appetite.

I searched Yelp for restaurants in Rapid City that had best salads. This restaurant was highly…read morerecommend. Strengths: They make outstanding cakes, pies, and cookies. Opportunities: Service was ok but nothing special. Salads were run of the mill. For the $20 price tag would have expected more. Overall: Looks and feels like a Perkins.
