I stopped in for a quick bite before exploring the area. I ordered a ham and gruyere sandwich with a hot green tea as a beverage. Both were absolutely delicious and I would stop in again for the same order or to try something new. The staff was friendly and the inside space seemed cozy although I didn't eat in. I would recommend it if you're in the area.

The Sour is a true destination bakery - I plan my trips to Rapid City to coincide with their opening hours (e.g. closed Mon/Tues) - and I dream about their sourdough creations in between every visit. Whenever I'm in RC means at least one stop at The Sour for pastries (the sugar-dusted morning bun and the caramel-encased kouing amman are standouts, but the almond croissant and cinnamon rolls are also worthwhile treats) to share with my local family, and another to pick up a loaf or two of bread to bring back to Colorado with me; the Pain de Mie and Oat Porridge loaves are truly delicious for sandwiches or morning toast, and they freeze well if you overbuy, as I typically do. And let's not forget the lovely cafe workers! Oh my goodness, the service is great - so welcoming and helpful, even when there is a line. On my last visit I learned that their tea and coffee drinks are delightful, too - and it's no problem to take anything to go, since the cafe tables fill up quickly on the weekends.

The star of my trip to rapid city! We just loved it here. Delicious treats all made of sour dough! The first time we came, we had the breakfast sandwich with the fluffy egg and bacon. You can choose between the spicy sauce and the truffle-- the spicy was more of a sriracha, not too hot, we preferred the truffle. The sea salt chocolate chip cookies were to die for-- we had to come back a second trip to get more! I also took a loaf of the honey blueberry sour dough back home-- my family said it was the best bread they ever had! The almond croissant was solid. There is areas to sit and relax. The workers were very nice. This is a must the next time you're in rapid city .

What a great bakery. Everything is made with starter including the pastries which is quite unique. This bakery is as good as the best we have found in the Seattle area. Everything was super fresh, great texture, and great flavor. We even bought a loaf of bread and took it home with us. I have definitely had a better sourdough loaf, but it was still great quality and made amazing sandwiches back at home. You can't go wrong with any of the pastries. We tried the blueberry cheesecake brioche, the cinnamon roll, the kouign amann, and others. Excellent.

One of the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had, and the coffee was amazing (my family had regular drip, miso caramel americano, and a mocha latte with oatmilk). The BEC sandwich was a pass for us, and the sourdough pastries were ok, but I think I've discovered I'm less of a fan of sourdough donuts and croissants vs. regular ones. Friendly staff, fast service. Worth a try.

Everything very good but very hard to get into parking is really an issue. Very few parking spaces available on street and no parking lot.

I have only had their coffee "shakes", which I would say are an attempt at a Frappucino. They charge more than Starbucks ($5 + tax for a 24 oz!), but are nowhere near as good. They add so much ice to them that you have to poke your straw around and "drink" it a straw full at a time. I usually give up and use a spoon or scrape it put of the cup with the straw. Speaking of the straws: They can't even be bothered with giving one to you. You have to get it out of a jar. They are cheap, skinny and flimsy straws. As i type this, I've been working on my drink so long that I can taste the plastic from the straw. They also don't accept credit/debit cards. Any costs associated with accepting these could certainly be paid for with part of the price of the drink. The one big positive is their baked goods. Cookies and brownies are delicious. However, this is a COFFEE shop, so I am basing my rating solely on the drinks I have had. I would much rather support a local business, as opposed to a national chain, but I'd choose Starbucks over this location any day.

I had a wonderful butterscotch latte and a chocolate chip scone. I don't even like scones generally but this one was fresh out of the oven and delicious. The prices are just right and you can get your coffee and pick up a book to read at the same time. What could be better?
