Coffee stop while walking the town and visiting shops. Very nice folks. Plenty of parking along the street. Weird sidewalk railing but just duck under it find the opening. Friendly town. They love dogs.

Best chai tea I've ever had, a cute little spot to get some treats and just walk the town. They had a few vegan milk alternatives however I'm unsure about the candies. There's also ice cream towards the back of the store, if you're looking for something to cool you down. It's a great place to take someone on a date or to just take the kids and cool down after a long day of hiking/biking. 10/10 I highly recommend this place, check it out then check out the towns cute stores!! I just wish there were more vegan options and a larger variety of vegan products

1.5 stars. **** update! Go to Cream.. across the street from Alpine Inn -- home made EVERYTHING and better prices**** Standard generic candy/ice cream shop found in every tourist town. They make fudge but the rest of the candy and ice cream is purchased and resold. Tried some fudge, available in a variety of flavors, but they pretty much all taste the same. Also tried two malts which lost several points when the staffer pulled out a can of reddi-whip. Interesting and annoying point: the straws are very slim and weak. Like the super cheap straw made for drinking soda and other free flowing and thin liquids--not for milk shakes. Pretty difficult to drink when your straw keeps collapsing and forget trying to suck up any chunks that are mixed in. Most the employees appear to be kids hired for the summer who want to try hard but seem overwhelmed with the tasks and the customers. We had to wait quite some time to pay as we were apparently forgotten by our person. I wouldn't go back, there's a Dairy Queen a couple stores down and the result is the same but slightly cheaper. By the way, I don't even like DQ but I'd prefer that to this place.

really friendly staff! they are actually open 9-8pm (not 6pm as listed by yelp) large variety of chocolates and candies. good selection of ice creams- esp sundaes, malts, shakes etc. the hard ice cream itself was a bit of a let down to me- looked amazing but kind of weak flavor, kind of tasted like sweet milk. beware of getting two scoops!!! cause I did and they handed me straight up a half gallon worth of ice cream. I think maybe soft serve sundae would the way to go in the future

How could anyone give this terrific dessert shop anything less than 5-stars I don't know. They have fudge and other treats on display in the large glass-covered case outside the store, which essentially was the draw that drew us in. I purchased a Dark Chocolate Coconut "Haystack" while my friend ordered a Large Peanut Butter Filled treat. I took mine home with the express purpose of making it last at least a couple of days, while my friend tried (and failed) to devour his the first night. Our third friend isn't much on chocolates or sweets, so he had a Latte, which he said was delicious and was a perfect way to cap off dinner at a nearby restaurant in downtown Hill City, SD.

Wish I read the reviews before wasting 6 dollars on a watered down coffee. Worst coffee ever! I ended up throwing half of it away.

I had wanted to try this brand when we visited the Mt. Rushmore KOA and was sorely disappointed they had so many unique flavors... but none that were multi-allergen friendly. Cue.... BENKY'S! Strange name, but friendly smiles and delicious creaminess-in-a-cup! I get chocolate peanut butter or some variation thereof (my favorite) at pretty much every ice cream place. Makes it easy for me to judge them more fairly. Benky's was creamy, the peanut butter swirled in very thin layers so it basically melted in your mouth... and the cute interior of the ice cream shop gave us a nice, cool air-conditioned place to relax and cool both our insides and outsides at the same time. They also had outdoor seating with umbrellas for shade if you're into running the sweat-race of "Can I finish this before it drips all over my hand or becomes a puddle of goo in my cup?" sort of thing. Overall, good ice cream, good experience and delicious.

We ordered a couple sundaes, one of which was posted with the rest, but were informed it would be $2 more due to the ice cream they used in that particular one. Went back in to grab a couple waters and they had a table pushed up against the cooler door and an employee was standing in the table putting up another light fixture so had to wait...which is fine, but I couldn't help but wonder if they planned to clean the counter/table after standing on them. There were a handful of other customers there besides us. Ice cream was fine but nothing to write home about, especially for the price. Likely will not go back again next time we're in town...just a weird experience overall.

It was already completely filled in the bar with wait times until 6:30pm at that point. Come early or reserve if you have a big group! There are two dinner options for adults - bacon wrapped steak and a German noodles dish. The bacon wrapped steak was great and also came with a wedge salad. The prices were incredible at about $20 per entree. It does have a strong bacon flavor so you have to be sure to enjoy that flavor. There was a hotdog option for kids and a vegetarian menu. The dessert menu was extension with more than 10 items. I had the napoleon and it was light, airy, and flaky. Everyone was happy with their desserts and the price was around $7 per item. Overall, it was a fun experience with decent food in this small town. I would come back and I recommend you try it!

Or just come when you want and hope to get in with only an hour wait. Regardless of some of the advertising there is nothing German about the place except the name. I'm from Chicago where we have a long history of real German food. But nobody comes for that anyway because the menu had like 3 things. 2 sizes of filet mignon which they promote being the cheapest which they are or pasta primavera which was a huge serving and looked decent. Should've opted for the larger one but as we age we just aren't eating that much. The meat was dry and overcooked, Easily the worst filet mignon either of us has ever had. The waitress was not rude though not welcoming or friendly but mostly just slow, both mentally and physically. Something about the area in general is they don't offer much if anything in the way of vegetables with meals. A problem for some health issues. Here we saw a couple order the pasta with 2 steaks and picked the veggies out of it. On the whole a very disappointing experience to end an otherwise wonderful trip.

That seems like a good thing, but it wasn't. The person who scooped his ice cream was in a "hurry" to go to the bathroom or on break. The cashier called the scooper back to get my friend's ice cream. He scooped as fast as he could, handed it to my friend and walked off. By the time he received his ice cream, it was lopsided and already about to fall. He paid for his ice cream and left. But that's not all. When he walked out, it had already started dripping down his hand and arm. About 5 minutes later, he had to throw away his ice cream because it was causing a huge mess and people were staring at him. The only good thing about this, is the fact the ice cream was good.
