My grandad lives in the area and really wanted some sweet potato pie. He's 92 and while he knows A LOT, he couldn't quite work out how to obtain this without having me send it from GA. I turned to Reddit, and someone pointed me to PP! They take custom orders, and I sent them a recipe. The lil pies were delivered as promised and my grandad is already asking for more! I'm throughly pleased not only with the outcome (per grandad) but with the service. They kept in constant communication with me from start to finish and it was really special for my grandad. I was desperate to find Father's Day treats for breakfast for family friends I was staying with. I was driving all over Rapid City (using Yelp) looking for a local vendor to find donuts, pastries, some sort of breakfast goodies. Eventually I ended up at Pistachio Pie. The front cooler mostly featured dessert offerings (cakes, cupcakes, cookies). But on the wall in the back was a spot featuring just what I was looking for: breakfast sweets. I got a mix of cinnamon rolls, muffins, and croissants. It's a small shop so the options weren't extensive but I was able to get just what I needed. Looking for a place to pick up some dessert to take to a dinner, I searched Yelp and saw Pistachio Pie. Pie sounded good so we headed out to find this bakery, tucked into a tiny building next to a gas station and a pub/casino. The shop itself was adorable with some fun pie themed merch and cute cookie cutters to purchase. We ordered three of the mini pies, a mini cheesecake, and some macarons to nosh on as we drove to dinner. The pie crusts were tasty but the flavors for the rest of the items were just meh. Macarons were tiny and the filling tasted unexpectedly of cream cheese. I'm hoping the bakery and the baker were just having an off day. I wish I could give this place a 5 star review but based on our experience I just can't. Maybe we purchased the wrong things, but we got 2 different cup cakes, a mini cheesecake and 2 macarons and honestly non of them were great. They were edible but we was looking for a go to dessert spot and unfortunately this place wasn't it. The cupcakes were hard and I really like a moist cake and to me the cheesecake lacked flavor. My husband and children also said they wasn't impressed, although my husband and son both liked the chocolate frosting on the one cupcake. My boyfriend bought a lemon meringue pie with gluten free crust for my birthday. The good: Textures for everything was spot on. The meringue, lemon curd/filling, the crust. Oh my goodness guys! The gluten free crust was amazing! Flaky and tasted yummy! The bad: The meringue and lemon filling were insanely sweet. So sweet that my kids couldn't eat their small slices. These are normal children who drink soda and eat candy, but they couldn't eat a small slice. Between 2 adults and 3 children, we ate maybe 1/3 of the pie. Today, I'm scraping most of the filling off and just eating the crust. I hope this business does well. If I order from them again, I'll probably ask for the sugar to be reduced as much as possible. read more

Decent pie but overpriced. We got chocolate silk which is my husband's favorite and when he says meh, that's saying something. There was way too much thick whipped cream that overpowered the chocolate so we scraped most of that off. I got blueberry and it tasted like a fruit pie but I wouldn't have guessed blueberry. Beautiful and delicious pies! My favorite is the vanilla bean cheese cake, it's absolutely decadent and not too heavy! Their fruit pies are wonderful as well, certainly try the mixed berry and don't forget their trade mark pistachio pie - the color alone is fabulous! The inside of the shop is so cute and upon entry you can feel the passion these ladies have for their craft. Overall it is an adorable little pie shop that should definitely be a stop on your list if you are visiting the Black Hills! I ordered a cherry pie for fathers day. This is the best cherry pie I have ever had. It was made with fresh cherries and it was not overly sweet. The pie crust was to die for. It is pricey but IMO it was worth every penny. I would rather pay more for a quality product and this certainly didn't disappoint. She has a lot of smaller items as well that are expertly decorated. We also tried the cheesecake with blueberries and it was awesome as well. We will definitely go back. read more

Based on other Yelp recommendations I stopped to pick up pie while on vacation in the Black Hills. The pistachio pie as well as the pumpkin pie we're superb. They were freshly made, well seasoned but not overly sweet, and enjoyable desserts. I can't recommend the bakery more highly. read more

My husband and I enjoyed lunch together, and after drove past Pistachio Pie. We decided to check it out. We shared a piece of pumpkin pie, and it was amazing. We did a ton of research when looking to do desserts for our wedding. The price of wedding desserts in outrageous. But then I found Pistachio Bakery. We were able to order desserts (pie and cheesecake bites) for over 300 people at half the price of other vendors. Our guests LOVED the variety of different cheesecake and pie bites. We did vanilla bean cheesecake as our cake to cut, and IT WAS FABULOUS! Lauren knocked it out of the park with her desserts. This week we had an employee who was celebrating his birthday and when asked what his favorite dessert was he said Pecan pie. Being from the south and describing the type of pecan pie he liked, it made it challenging to find a pecan pie to fit his liking until we found the Pistachio Pie place. He not only lived it so did all of our staff. Fast forward to the weekend, I had told my husband about it and so he wanted pecan pie. I arrived and filled my hubby's order then it was my turn - banana cream or pumpkin. The nice lady explained all that makes her pumpkin pie special, how popular it is etc. and I explained that I'm not a big pumpkin pie person. (Regardless of the amount of pumpkin pie latte drinks I order at this time of year.) So I picked out the banana cream and at the last minute asked her to add the pumpkin, I had a feeling I would regret not trying it. Well she was right about her pumpkin pie, absolutely delicious and uniquely perfect pie. I will definitely be ordering her pumpkin pie again.
