We were seated immediately and had Christopher as our waiter who was fantastic. My husband and I shared two dishes-the pork medallions and the elk bolognese. Both dishes were delicious and had unique flavors. My husband especially loved the pork. We finished the meal with the chocolate banana cake. That was one of the best cakes I've tasted. It was so very moist and the flavors worked together perfectly. If you are visiting Custer, stop here for a great meal!

They constantly check in on you, and provide a very positive environment, 10/10 service. The interior is fun, they have plenty of seating indoors and outdoors, there are random climbing decor, trinkets, paintings, and it's just a fun atmosphere. We ordered the fish and chips, fried green beans, pub sandwich with smashed potatoes and bread pudding. The fish was perfectly battered, it was crispy, light and the sauce they served with it was perfect. We absolutely loved the fried green beans, they were crispy and tasted amazing with their housemade garlic parmesan and spicy ukranian sauce. The spicy ukranian is a slightly tangy and creamy sauce. The pub sandwich had a good crunch from the citrus slaw, good tang from the pepperoncini and the bread was so soft. They also have 1990 rootbeer and it is amazing. The real star of the show was the bread pudding. I have never really been a fan of bread pudding but this one is a must. It is warm, soft, and just the perfect texture. The top is sugary with a little crunch and topped with whipped cream. They don't put nuts or raisins. I absolutely loved it. Definitely will be back for the amazing service, rootbeer, fried green beans and of course the bread pudding!

Glad we did Our hostess wasn't as friendly as I'd have liked but everyone has an off day. Our server was attentive and kept us feeling important. Food. The ribeye was tender and flavorful. There was a fair amount of fat but ribeye does. The chili is very good and pairs well with the red potato smashers. The Cuban was also a good choice. My wife loved it as did my son who had to finish it for her. Portions are on point with the price. No complaints. We sat outdoors and other than the flys which no real way to stop them it was a nice setting. This stop was on a long distance family vacation and was on our highlights.

Starter and food, drinks, etc., are brought promptly to the table. This is exceptional in a highly popular tourist area. The food is good but could use a little improvement--the grilled mahi-mahi was good, but a little on the dry sauce and definitely needed a sauce. A couple of the dishes did have sauces, but fish is why most Creole restaurants like Brennan's will serve a sauce on the side, or a topping with butter such as Trout Almandine. It doesn't have to be a fancy sauce--the option of good ol' tartar sauce works. The grilled vegetables also needed a little more butter and seasoning. Carrots are good on their own; broccoli and cauliflower need a little cheese or butter and some seasoning to be loved. The IPA (Long John) was excellent. The beer cheese dip and soft pretzels were to die for; the chardonnay was passable. A great choice for dining in a VERY heavily traveled tourist destination. Get there early--it starts filling up fast and all the restaurants around Mount Rushmore close at 9.

They have their doors wide open and it was nearly as hot indoors. And the flies were annoying. I enjoyed the Long Tom IPA but not enough to order another. Apps were pretty limited, so we opted for a pretzel with beer cheese. The cheese was great, pretzel was large but it was also dry and not very enjoyable. When I first walked in I looked at their merch and was very disappointed with their hats. Plenty of shirts and a very cool metal sign of their logo. Service was fine. We intended to eat dinner at one of their restaurants but after reviewing the menu and reviews, decided to head somewhere else as this place was a bit of a disappointment. And didn't want to further amplify the experience.

We were visiting from North Carolina and celebrating our anniversary, and the entire experience made the evening incredibly memorable. From the moment we arrived, the host team was warm and welcoming. Although we were about 15 minutes early, our table was already prepared--a small detail that showed genuine care and attention. Our wonderful server, Teagahn, was full of smiles and positive energy. She took exceptional care of us throughout the evening and made us feel completely at home. The food was spectacular and far exceeded our expectations. We've experienced everything from hole-in-the-wall gems to high-end restaurants such as Michael Mina, and Skogen ranks very high on our list--honestly, even better than Hell's Kitchen. Every plate placed in front of us was thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The lobster salad and lobster bun were delightful starters. Our swordfish and filet were cooked perfectly, with balanced flavors and well-proportioned servings. What elevated the experience even further was watching Skogen's remarkably talented young kitchen team--mostly in their late teens and early twenties--handle a very busy dinner service like seasoned professionals. They were focused and polished, yet still friendly and personable. A special shoutout to Dominic, Teagahn, Rosalinda, Lance, and Joseph, the executive chef and owner. The combination of amazing food, genuine hospitality, and an outstanding team made our anniversary dinner one we will not forget. Our entire experience at Skogen was exceptional. It is highly recommended and absolutely worth planning your visit around!
