Wow how do I begin? Let's start with I live down the street from this place and was super excited there was a coffee place so close. I've gone twice now, both time the girls working have not only taken their time in making the drinks, but also lacked an overall level of customer service that should come with running a business. The most recent experience I was there with my girlfriend grabbing coffee, at night, before heading to the L train to head to work. We stood behind a couple that we thought was ordering but apparently was having a nice 5 minute + conversation with the girl at the counter. I must've missed the memo that it was a socializing event. After the girl at the counter decided to ask them what they wanted to order, they ordered and it was finally our turn. We order our drinks and step off to the side. Then another customer comes in and engages in a conversation with both of the girls working. The couple who had ordered got their order and then we patiently waited as both girls working proceeded to talk with the customer who had walked in. At least 5 minutes goes by and they hadn't even started our drinks. We had to physically walk up and ask if our drinks were going to be ready soon and both of the girls had already forgotten that we had ordered our drinks and that they didn't make them. We watched as 3 separate customers got their orders before us. Overall it was probably about 15-20 minutes before getting our drinks, which apparently is rocket science at a coffee shop. Definitely not going again, we love supporting local businesses but seriously get it together. read more

I've been a loyal customer of Bake Shop ever since they opened but the quality of food, drinks, and service has been on a strong decline for the past few months. They currently have a bummed out staff that does not acknowledge customers or communicate with actual words. Last week I went in to get a toasted bagel and iced coffee in the morning (4/2/19) - the little brunette counter girl that's always grouchy was the absolute worst. She hastily took my order and then walked away. Normally this is when the barista tells me how much I owe so I waved her back over and asked how much and she said "pay after it comes out" - which makes NO SENSE for a coffee shop with a line of customers. After a few minutes, she gives me a bagel and a very watery iced coffee and just stares blankly at the computer for a long time. I asked AGAIN - "Can I pay for this?" And she just said, "the card chip is right there". ( I planned on paying with cash) That's when I had enough of her attitude and told her she should consider "comminicating" with customers and shared how helpful is it to speak actual words so we know what the hell is going on. She sucks, the iced coffee is watery, and my bagel was not toasted. My entire office and I have had nothing but crappy service here so we won't be back. I would normally share my experience with management before blasting on the web but they don't have a website. read more

Love this place! So many ever-changing vegan options. The vegan pizza bagels are amazing... the vegan cream cheese could be improved upon. It's made with cashews and is very heavy... would be better if it were lighter and slightly more tart! The knishes that look like boobs are yummy, too! This is a great place to spend all day! Great people watching situated on the corner, good seating options, never too crowded. Love the plants and the vibe, and usually the music is okay too except for once when dubstep was playing and nothing I could stuff my ears with could muffle it. The service is mostly impersonal and very slow. Like extremely slow. It takes them about ten minutes to cream cheese a bagel, and I wish I were exaggerating! It's almost amazing to watch them do it. I've noticed there are soooo many employees here... I've never been served by the same person twice. But I'm so grateful for this place - so much better than the swallow down the street which is kinda grimy and attracts the same! read more

I would give this place 5 stars based on coffee and pastries. I gave them 1 star for public safety. They all wear masks, but improperly. They either wear them as a chin straps, or their noses are outside of the masks. They're preparing food and coffee for the public, so they should take public safety seriously. read more

I tried the brooklyn blackout cupcake -- it is TO DIE FOR! I loved the moist chocolate cake and the sweet - but not too sweet - buttercream chocolate ganache. If you are in Bushwick, please stop in for one of these - you will not regret it. Additionally, the people I was with had the brownie, sugar cookie, lemon ricotta cookie, and latte. Everyone loved their sweet treats and felt everything tasted freshly baked. I love it when baked goods taste like they just came out of the oven! Quite possibly the best chocolate cake/cupcake you have ever had. Everything is so good. The cakes are extremely rich with a ton of flavor and the bake shop itself is cute and cozy. Sometimes I walk thirty minutes to work just to have a bagel here. It's the best I've had in New York! My only qualm is that there is no way to tip the staff when paying with a card. The system they use is Square and I know it's easily possible. Everyone that works there is extremely kind, fast and genuine. I'm a longtime fan of the The Little Cupcake Shop so I was happy to have Bake Shop move in. The same quality cakes & cupcakes as the Manhattan shop with a fantastic organic menu in addition. I live off the egg&potato or vegetable quiches for breakfast. All the baked goods are fresh & delicious. The flourless brownie is a chocolate lover's fix. There's a fridge with banana and chocolate puddings and a chilled key-lime pie that has restored my faith in humanity(it's real good). All the baked items are fresh & delicious. Great coffee as well. I've been here 3 times as I live down the road and all 3 times it has taken 10+ minutes to make an ICED LATTE with little-to-no other customers waiting for coffee orders. My patience is usually very high as I was a waitress for 6 years and understand customer service in the food/beverage industry. But seriously? If you see a young red-headed girl working...RUN! She only cares about chatting with customers and coworkers and forgets you even placed an order when you're the only customer waiting???? Like???? Wtf. Yet another place that puts matcha on the menu, but then serves poor quality without understanding how to properly make it. If it takes you ten seconds to make a matcha and water...you are doing it so wrong. If you don't have the brush, it's wrong. Barely could finished my overpriced drink it was so grainy and unbalanced. Just don't bother serving it. The barista also didn't know that you can make matcha with just water. Thought it only came with milk...??? The baked goods I've had are fine (a bit dry), but not really packing any punch. I don't eat baked goods/desserts terribly often so I don't need them to be particularly healthful. Incompetent and completely inefficient staff. The baked goods are tasty but you will have to wait 20 minutes in line if there are two people in front of you to get one. My family and I witnessed a couple purchasing pastries, it took two counter people to box up eight pastries and they asked for the order at least twice because they could not remember the order.
