Hearty Food and Delightful Service, if a bit pricey I went here for breakfast with my family on a Saturday morning so the place was PACKED but it was well worth the wait. The menu options can be a little overwhelming, but I'd definitely recommend opting for the Mexican breakfast options (though the plates going to other tables looked fabulous too). Still, the waiter's eyes lit up when we ordered the chilaquiles, so I think we hit on at least a staff favorite. I got the huevos rancheros with poached eggs and a side of red potatoes. The salsa was fabulous and everything was in perfect proportion. The surprise star were the farmstyle potatoes. Somebody loved those potatoes. They were crispy skinned with fluffy insides and a generous sprinkling of salt and spice. I dipped mine in the runny yolks and the frijoles and probably could have put away several potatoes worth of fries given the chance. Whatever you do order, be sure to get the potatoes. Staff were attentive and our cups never got empty, even in the middle of the busy breakfast/brunch crowd. I've been here twice. It's okay. The service is good. The food is solid breakfast/cafe, comes out quickly, and is nothing to complain about. It's just nothing to write home about, either. The ambiance turns me off, and to be honest we only went here because we were running some errands in the area. 3/9/08 Update. Arrived around 11am on Sunday with plenty of seating. Both of us ordered the Huevos Ranchos, I had tea and my friend had a mimosa. Plenty of food, sauce did seem canned but definately had some bite to it, my friend was sweating. Staff is always friendly and the food quick, just doesn't seem all home cooked, more processed. For two, $31. -------------------------- Went on a Sunday morning at 11am and got seating right away. I so wanted to love this place, I want to find a neighborhood breakfast place near me. The staff is so friendly and attentive, the atmosphere is welcoming, great outdoor seating but the food felt too processed for me. I ordered the 15. Poached eggs with cheese and ham on muffins and tea for $11. I asked for hash browns instead of cottage fries, the browns seemed the frozen type, they forgot my salsa and when asked to bring it, it tasted like it was from a jar. The ham on my breakfast had a processed taste and feel to it too. The Numi gourmet tea was nice and unexpected from a mom and pop breakfast place, I expected Lipton tea with the quality of food I received. read more

After a long 24 hours on call in the ICU, I was craving some hearty American breakfast before heading home to pass out... The place is quaint, very homey and reminds of the White Palace Grill back in Chicago. Excellent. The cafe country with gravy (w/ eggs, sausage plus hasbrowns) was overall fantastic. The biscuits were soft, the eggs nicely scrambled and not too wet and the sausage savory. The hashbrowns were likewise a cut above - crispy on top and bottom, soft on the inside and none too soggy or greasy. The gravy, though, was a bit of a downer. It tasted a little too watery and didn't really have much flavor... This place has earned a spot on my breakfast rotation with 3.5 stars, but I don't think I'd get the gravy again. read more

Brunch today was great! Fresh juice, waffle, omelet and home fries... they welcomed us in... even though it was quarter till close. There looked to be sooo many options on the menu - we were both pleased and agreed we would love to come back for more yumminess. Staff was also so polite & friendly. I picked a bad day to be off the CFS.... so my default now is eggs benedict.... or at least poached eggs. Yet when we brought our rhodesian ridgeback around to the patio entrance we were greeted with "oh it is a big dog"... After an awkward pause we were seated. (Patio is a tight squeeze for a big dog but it can be done). All of the staff was super nice to us and our pooch! -food was blah in every way. My omelette was sloppy. We booked catering services with Bajis Cafe for 2 breakfast events back to back. The morale group at my work reviewed the catering menus online and decided what to get from there based on price per person. I called the restaurant a couple weeks in advance to set up the catering and was immediately told to call another person who does the catering. The first phone call he said he was too busy to talk to me and if I could please call back, I understand that this can happen, but why answer the phone? Let it go to voicemail so I can leave a message and you return it upon your convenience. 1st red flag. Once getting in touch with the person who does the catering services I confirmed everything and we set the date and time. The first morning the driver showed up early and had plenty of time for delivery, which was perfect for us. Parking is a little crazy at this location so he loaded up the cart for us and we wheeled in the large containers ourselves. All of the food comes in metal dishes, the non disposable kind, inside a big bulky plastic container. These containers were old and smelled bad, everything was covered in foil except for the large tray of eggs which was gross since the containers smelled badly. We ordered enough food for 65 people and also received a variety of pastries. Once we had everything unloaded into the kitchen and we were setting up we realized there was ants all over, we later realized they were from the pastry baskets which was from the catering van. The delivery guy came back to pick up the containers and we let him know that there were ants on the pastries and we had to throw away 1 1/2 trays of pastries. His response was that he knew and he would spray the van later that day for ants but nothing as far as a refund. My credit card was charged a larger amount, I realized later in the afternoon that the math didn't add up, it was way more than we originally budgeted. The second day the same delivery guy, Julio, came and this time helped us to set everything up which was very nice. I asked for an itemized receipt so I can see where these extra charges were coming from and thats when we had a lot of problems. Upon explaining my math, Julio realized that the option was actually $10.95 per person and not $9.95 per person as advertised on their website. Come to find out their website has a lot of mistakes. There is outdated pricing for each menu option, the delivery charge which says it is $30 and Julio later said it was really supposed to be $60 ($30 for delivery and $30 for the pick up of the plastic non disposable trays.) The tax rate wasn't even correct! They are really unorganized and I needed to create my own spreadsheet to show the breakdown of what was supposed to be charged and was actually charged. Upon review of the spreadsheet I made, the owner then realized his mistake on the tax rate (after Julio said he has been telling them forever) and insisted on us paying 9% compared to 8.75%. I understand this charge but it should have been carefully reviewed by the company previosuly. It took SEVERAL phones calls both from the delivery person and the manager to even get to the correct amount that I had come to according to their website pricing. It seemed like they were counting on their fingers and toes and making up numbers as they went because several times I had to correct their math. Needless to say the whole experience was highly unorganized on their end and it is going to be nightmare to submit these credit card transactions on my end to the finance department. Oh and last but not least, as of August 2, 2017 their catering website isn't even updated to reflect their "correct" pricing. And I still don't have an itemized receipt a week later. read more

Really great -- exactly what we wanted: a quick and lovely brunch. We stopped here this morning (Wednesday) before a meeting at 9, were greeted by Manuel around 8:20. I asked him if we had time to eat and be out in 30 min, he said yes and kept his word. Manuel was fantastic, our food was in front of us in minutes and was very good, I had a side of French toast and 3 scrambled eggs with veggies and my husband had a ham egg and cheese sandwich which he loved. The Peet's coffee was delicious (and I typically am not a coffee drinker). Fast and great breakfast... No Micky D's for us! Manuel even gave us fresh coffee in to go cups. I love this place. But I can never seem to remember the name. After a craaaaaaa...py experience down the street at Uncle Frank's BBQ, I remembered that Bajis was right there. YEAH!!! Its been a while, but I always get their BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger. Tangy with lots of BBQ sauce, a plump sesame bun and all the fixings. Thick ole' bacon and a good hunk of beef patty. I wish they wouldn't cook medium rare so well (there was no pinkness at all)...maybe I'll try ordering rare next time and see if ANY of it is pink. All in all, the staff are friendly but quiet. You never hear any boisterous drama interactions between the staffers so you can enjoy eating in. This is one of those funky ma and pop type places with too much crap in plain site so it looks messy but its actually quite clean. You can always bet on good food at Bajis read more

"It's doesn't happen often, but once in a while, Yelp leads me astray" -another yelper's review I wish i could have taken that into consideration when deciding to eat here. This cafe is a cozy one that can't fit a bunch of people, but somehow they make it work. I felt like i was in some prologue to a 1990's horror film (currently raining on this visit). I don't know if it's the weather but this place feels dark. The lighting is the same as those in most middle school classrooms. The decor is okay but then again it could use work. Did i mention the BP oil spill? Oh right. The hashbrowns were oily and that was all i got from each fork-full. It wasn't all bad though. I was in the San Jose for the weekend from Austin and stopped at Baji's on the way to the Niners game on Sunday morning for breakfast. After a night of drinking "one too many", this place hit the spot. We walked in and there was no wait. We sat right down and the waiter was at our table within seconds. I asked what they were known for and he said the skillets. When we told the waiter we liked spicy food, he recommended the skillet with churizo and brought out some "special" salsa with a lot more kick than the normal stuff, which was perfect with the skillet. I had a hankering for Huevos Rancheros which hit the spot, it came with roasted red potatoes, 3 corn tortillas, over-easy eggs covered in tasty salsa and a side of refried beans. The husband got the Vegetarian omelet with hashbrowns and sourdough toast. Everything was delicious and even more so when washed down with some strong coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice! We loved the flavor of the falafel, eggplant and feta cheese in my husband's omelette - so tasty and refreshingly different! Next time that's what I'm going to get! I found this place here on Yelp this morning looking for a good breakfast place along my commute from Palo Alto to Santa Clara. It was good. I had a standard breakfast: two eggs, breakfast potatoes, toast, and a meat of my choice. The meat I chose was chorizo. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the potatoes were good although they could have been a bit more crisp. I was disappointed by the chorizo. It was flavorful but way overcooked which lead to a hard, chewy consistency. The coffee was good (but not worth $3) and the orange juice was delicious. I liked the staff and the place was clean. Three stars may not seem like a good rating, but I will be back. read more
