This place ticks all the marks. Has ample shaded outdoor seating. Indoors is bright, bustly, and usually crowded (in a cozy diner sort of way). I think there's bar seating, but never have had a problem walking in and finding tables. Wouldn't be surprised if that changes soon, and if it does, I'll be prepared for a wait. This spot is the ultimate hungover brunch spot. They even have a "funhouse hangover" skillet on the menu, hard liquor, smoothies, and milkshakes. I have only ever ordered the funhouse hangover so I can't speak to other food items. My go to skillet is an overwhelming huge combination of chorizo, bacon, jalapeño, cheese, avocado, hash browns, and over easy eggs. The meal is easily large enough for two people. The hot sauce medley left on every table is great for experimenting :) the funhouse doesn't sacrifice quality to come in a large quantity. The avocados are fresh. The bacon is crispy. The cheese is melty. The eggs are always perfectly cooked. And if the food weren't good enough, the staff is so friendly that their smiles almost show through their masks! read more

Went in for a quiet, chill Sunday brunch and it was the perfect choice. No wait and got a booth to sit at near the door. The servers were very jovial and energetic and patient with our order. Bottomless coffee was great to get going. I had a healthy nut scramble omelette with a side of hash browns and toast. Both the omelette and hash were quite low on the salt, but tasted great after I sprinkled some. My husband had the chicken salad melt sandwich with fries. The sandwich looked deceptively small but turned out to be a perfect portion at the end because of the packed melt. The fries, again, were not salted. The past few months I have been a bit disappointed in Bajis and stopped going there for awhile, because on two occasions they got our orders wrong and charged us for items we didn't order (we had them fix the bill before paying). Last Sunday we went back, and had a very odd experience. It was no busier than usual, and there were not that many people waiting for a table when we arrived. Ordinarily when we are seated, the person seating us gives us menus and asks about beverages, which arrive within a couple of minutes. Last week that didn't occur, and my son had to flag someone down to bring us menus and take our beverage order. We flagged them down again to take our order, and a few minutes later, the waiter returned to our table with a strange look on his face. Each of us had ordered a waffle with two eggs but asked to substitute one pancake for the waffle in each case, and we each asked for a side half order of sausage. My pancake was blueberry, and my son's was a regular pancake. Although I have never seen a note on the menu about "no substitutions" and in many past visits, requests for substitutions were greeted with "no problem!" and we received what we requested, this time the waiter said, "during the week" (i.e. Monday through Friday) it is fine to request substitutions but "on weekends when it is very busy" we would not be able to order as we did. He said they would prepare our order as we requested "this time". We were very puzzled by this. I was seated facing away from the open kitchen area, so I don't know who told the waiter to say this to us. I don't know if it would have been the owner/manager who was also waiting on people. I assume the bill was correct and we were charged for what we ordered, but my son paid this time so I can't comment on that aspect. I always thought that if the customer ordered something from the menu, the restaurant served it as requested. As previously stated, there was nothing on the menu that said "no substitutions" weekdays or weekends. We could have ordered each item a la carte, i.e. one pancake, two eggs, half order of sausage, for a higher price but we didn't. On some past visits, when we ordered the waiter (a different one) would tell us if we ordered a certain way we could get what we wanted at a lower price than a la carte, but it didn't happen this time. I like Bajis but now I am less inclined to go there for Sunday breakfast. The food is still great, but this service experience left me feeling less appreciated as a regular customer. read more

Worth it! They have such a nice place here, a nice patio and inside kept clean at all times. The service was great right away, they make sure you're well taken care of. When you're seated and go through your menu they make sure to recommend dishes and make sure you're aware of what you'll be consuming. The food was delicious, I enjoyed my meal and so did my boyfriend we went with the basics Ham and eggs and 2 pancakes 2 eggs. What made me give this place the full 5 stars is that they also recycle water. They don't just throw it away to waste. This place knows we are in a drought and is conserving as much as they can. The hash browns were good but not quite as crispy or delicious as others I've had. Hollandaise sauce was decent and eggs were cooked nicely. Service: friendly, plenty of coffee refills, a "thank you" when you leave. A plus here as others have mentioned. Ambiance: fine- cozy diner, plenty of parking, sports related pictures on the walls, some a little askew. Value: this is where the place really falls short. I understand we're in the Bay Area and things are a little pricier but with tax and tip, eggs Benedict and a cup of black coffee came out to over $20. Just way too overpriced and there are similar places with similar food for cheaper. Eggs Benedict were 12.75 which is ok but 3.75 for a simple cup of coffee? Sat down here on a lazy Sunday with a craving for a breakfast burrito. We were seated outside in the covered patio area. I ordered the southern skillet and my fiancee ordered the chilaquiles at the recommendation of the server. The skillet was decent but nothing to write home about, though a bit too soggy for my taste. The chilaquiles were absolutely horrible, both the tortillas super soggy and the sauce tasted like it came out of a can. In a feeble attempt to salvage the dish, they covered the whole thing is pieces of chorizo, which my fiancee didn't ask for, that just made it heavy and even worse. When my fiancee told the waiter that the chilaquiles were ok (to be nice, of course), he replied with a shrug saying that at least they were "filling." Thanks for the recommendation dude, glad to hear that you guys really care about the quality of your product. The cherry on top of all of this mediocrity was the price, which was about $50 including the two dishes and some coffees - I'm a newcomer to the Bay so am not quite used to everything being a bit more expensive, but if you want a Mexican breakfast save your money and find a good taco joint. I haven't been to a restaurant like this--you know, the one of a kind, mom and pop, homey and cozy, that gives you totally 5 stars of service. I don't remember our server's name but he was so nice and friendly, he kept an eye on our table so we never have to ask for hot water :) The food was amazing, I love the flavors and the portion was a bless (amen!). I'm suck a sucker for old-school diner vibes, and Bajis definitely delivered! We headed here on a Sunday morning around 10 a.m., and it wasn't very crowded thanks to a ton of outdoor seating. Every single person here is SO friendly and service-oriented, almost to the point where you feel awkward because they're so nice (does that happen to anyone else, or just me? Okay cool.) My breakfast date and I both ordered skillets. There was also the option to get any omelette as a scramble, which I appreciate. The food was totally what you would expect, in a good way: satisfying diner breakfast with lots of breakfast potatoes, a dash of grease, and 3 hot sauces on the table to douse it all in. Bajis Cafe is a really great spot to eat breakfast or brunch! Interestingly, we first found this place when taking a shortcut between Rengstoff and San Antonio Road during heavy traffic. We decided to give it a try on the weekend. The food is really good and the service is great! The menu is extensive; so, you can come back and try something different every weekend for many, many weeks. My only frustration is that parking is limited. The wait staff were really attentive even though it's packed for a Saturday brunch. The foods were decent and actually better than I anticipated. I would have given this place 4 stars except that I'm a BIG fan of Bloody Mary's, and when my boyfriend and I ordered 2, they came back as this weird orange drink.....I think it was a bit of tomato juice with (maybe?) some vodka, and it almost tasted carbonated. I rarely say no to a second Bloody Mary, and I'll tell you I had no problem stopping after the first. That being said, the portion sizes are huge so we were able to split a garden scramble and we were both satisfied. There were tons of veggies, potatoes, cheese, and two pieces of toast. They have lots of hot sauces to choose from, and we like it spicy so we asked for some jalapenos on the side. They delivered, and mixing them in with the veggie scramble was delicious.
