She & I both ordered the baked sea scallop special, which came with 2 dinner sides for $24.99. The scallops were delicious but I would have been happier if my baked potato & steamed broccoli had been cooked just a few minutes longer. They were edible, just not quite as soft as I prefer. Our friends enjoyed their meals... citrus swordfish (also one of the specials), French onion soup & salad, and a chicken salad sandwich. My companion & I shared a piece of lemon meringue pie for dessert, which was good. It wasn't as big a serving as at some restaurants, but it was enough. I have no idea of the cost as prices are not listed on the dessert menu, a practice I dislike. I also didn't like the fact that I asked for a fork as I don't like eating cake or pie with a spoon & was told I couldn't have one as they were all needed. Our friends enjoyed their peanut butter pie & coconut cake. Our server was adequate. We had to chase her down to ask for water, lemon, etc. I understand she was very busy but a smile would have been nice. I do appreciate the fact that we were not rushed out, and we were allowed plenty of time to catch up with our friends. Also, the hostess was gracious enough to take a photo of our group as we were leaving the restaurant. This restaurant used to be the Country Inn on Market Street in Warren. Exceptional Service - Newport Sandwich Company…read more I cannot say enough great things about Newport Sandwich Company and the owner, Kevin Sullivan. I was out of state and wanted to surprise my daughter with a grinder platter, and Kevin truly went above and beyond to make it happen. It was a last-minute request, and Kevin still took the time to put everything together and personally deliver it. To make things even more impressive, there was a huge parade happening in town, which could have easily made delivery impossible. Instead, Kevin planned ahead and brought it earlier so he could get through the crowds and make sure my daughter still received the surprise. My daughter was so ecstatic and happy when she got it. Moments like that mean so much, especially when you're far away and trying to do something special for your child. I was going to purchase the store brand soup in the deli section when I came across this new brand. There was a promo of BOGO. The price was not listed. The brand was Blount Clam Shack, all the way from the east coast to the west coast (Massachusetts to California) There were only two kinds of soup available - gumbo and New England clam chowder. Okay, why not go for the promo? It doesn't hurt to taste the soup. Drawback? The gumbo is high in sodium (2320 mg if one eats all 24 ounces [3 servings] of it at once). Thirdly, I had some of the gumbo soup with a piece of garlic French bread last night for dinner. The soup was delicious and tasty. This afternoon I had another serving of the soup for lunch. The seasonings must have settled in the soup because it tasted better as leftover. The clam chowder soup is even higher in sodium, so I will put it aside for a few days before eating it. Finally, will I buy it again? Might, then might not. It's pricey like everything else in the deli section.
