Have been going here the last 7 years. Has gone down hill. Last 2 times I've gone they've been out of things early on in the night - this week was chicken of all types at 6:30 pm along with tomatoes and more. Time before was broccoli at 7:00 pm. I literally came for the Thai broccoli, which is really, really good. The menu has stayed consistent over the years. To be out of these things early in the night during the height of your busy season is a serious problem. Fix your ordering system and methods and diners will be happier. I really don't want to return and have been coming for years. Server was great and the food I did get was fine. But you can't run out of these staples and expect people to want to return. read more

What an awesome find down in Sandbridge. Some friends and I came out to the Baja on Friday night for dinner. The drive out there is beautiful, especially on a warm summer evening. It's not too touristy in Sandbridge yet, so we came at the right time! When you walk in, you can choose between the restaurant or the outdoor / bar area. If you're looking to eat, the restaurant has a full menu, and the outdoor area has pizza! Since it was a beautiful day, we decided to grab some beers and sit outside in the Adirondack chairs for a bit. What a view! Located right on the back bay. There was plenty of room for kids to run around, outdoor games and shaded areas too! When we went inside to eat, a live band was setting up and who doesn't enjoy live music on a Friday night?! Major plus. We sat in the back room, and our waitress was fantastic. I ordered the shrimp tacos with fries, she crab soup and my friends got the hot honey chicken sandwich (which they said was the best they've ever had). Here a hack for you: order the she crab soup and dip your fries in them. You'll thank me later, I promise. I was with my 2 daughters my husband and my son. We had gone to the bar and all of us ordered drinks. The bartender checked my daughter's ids and considering my daughters are 22 and 24 he served them. The manager then came up a few minutes later after the girls were halfway through they're dinks and demanded to see they're ids. I explained to the manager that they are over 21 and he deemed their ids fake. They are not fake. He then attempted to take my daughter's GOVERNMENT ISSUED ids. He went on to then take the girls drinks and continue to make us pay for them. Never did he EVER check my son's id. Manger is A.a jackass or B.a sexist. Trick question, it's both. Overall, Baja is a nice spot in an area where there are not many options. They have a big outdoor area, which is great if you have kids. The food is also pretty good. I had the Buffalo chicken pizza and she crab soup when there and enjoyed both. The hours however are frustrating. They close in the middle of the day from 12-4. We were told this was because of the heat (it was 80 degrees out), then told it was because of short staff, and then told they always close during those times. Either way, it is strange to close during peak lunch/day hours and not be open for at least drinks. read more

We went to Baja restaurant twice in one week. One night we sat at the bar and had dinner. I also had a lemon drop martini which only had a hint of lemon in it. My ahi tuna was seared perfectly but my garlicky green beans were overdone. My understanding is that is how they do it on the east coast whereas I'm from the west coast and we like green beans crispy and tender at the same time. My husband enjoyed his crispy spicy chicken sandwich but it was not spicy enough and tasted like orange chicken from Panda Express. His broccoli was over steamed as well. The bartender/waitress Debbie was very nice. The next time we came for karaoke night. We had a great time and ordered drinks and pizza. The pizza was fine for most folks. Nobody ate more than a bite or two of the hot honey sandwich (three of us ordered it) and I was told it was just "Okay." The asian broccoli was really good. The calamari was good too. Worst restaurant experience in probably a decade. 3 adults, 2 kids. Arrived about 8:15 to get dinner. Order food and drinks very quickly, and our waitress was attentive and brought drinks, but no food for an hour. Eventually the manager comes to tell us that they ran out of a two of our dinners. We pick something else. 10 minutes later, they're also not able to serve one of the other options we picked. They comp'd that final dinner, but that was it. Great restaurant for locals and tourists visiting Sandbridge beach. This restaurant does get crowded because the location is tucked in Sandbridge close to all the homes. Good indoor and outdoor area and during the summertime they do have events each night and many live bands for entertainment. The staff is friendly and welcoming, we came on a weekday and yes, it was busy. Our wait time of 40mins however ended up being about 10mins. We sat down and looked at the menu, lots to choose from however the day we went their pizza oven was broken. No worries. We ordered something else. To start we got the calamari and broccoli. Both very good apps then for dinner my hubs got the crab cake sandwich and I got the shrimp tacos. The shrimp tacos were super good! I would definitely go back again for them. Our AirBnb host highly recommended this local spot. He raved about the fish tacos and the beautiful sunset. My Mr and I were sold that on our last day, we had to pay them a visit. There is a coffee shop inside. We wanted to sit out on the patio since the weather was perfect and I wanted to take pictures of the sunset. It was steady so we were seated right away. Our server was Nova. Amazing server. Very laid back and attentive. Both the drink and food menus are simple. Not huge but enough for you to make a quick decision. They do have appetizers, burgers, seafood, pizza, entrees, salad and dessert. Our order for the night: New Realm Hazy Like a Fox IPA Relax Riesling She Fries Ca'Donini Sauvignon blanc O'Connor Brewing Proper Lager Red Snapper (grilled and fish of the day) with broccoli and hollandaise sauce Mahi tacos with veggies We got our she fries right away. Wow! Amazing! Like eating poutine! The crab soup on top was super thick and creamy. Had great flavor. Our dinners were delish as well. My Mr enjoyed his tacos and the red snapper was grilled just right. Loved the broccoli and the Boursin sauce that came with it. At the end, I was able to get that sunset shot. The food is ok but we didn't mind coming since it was close to our Airbnb and we didn't need to drive. The view during sunset is gorgeous. My lady and I were looking for a spot nearby the beach for dinner with a great outdoor view and we were told of this place by the owner of our Air BNB. It was only a few minutes away which made it even better. Plus, why not have dinner near the beach that you're staying on? My lady and I got there around 6pm or so. We sat outside in a very nice spot with a view of the setting sun. Both their food and drinks menus aren't huge but have a variety of great chioces. Our server, Nova, was absolutely great. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. My lady and I started off with a couple drinks, a Relax Riesling for her and New Realm Hazy Like a Fox IPA for me. We browsed the menu and were very intrigued by the She Fries, fries topped with their homemade She Crab soup... So we ordered some, and they were amazing! It was like a seafood take on poutine. The soup was rich like a chowder and had loads a big crab meat chunks. We tore it up! As for our main courses, my lady got the red snapper (fish of the day) grilled with steamed broccoli, and I got the ahi tacos with green beans. Of course we ordered more drinks! An O'Connor Proper Lager for me and a Ca'Donini Sauvignon blanc for her. Her fish was HUGE! Too much for her to finish. My tacos were very delicious and tasted immensely fresh. All of it was excellent! After we were done and VERY full, we ordered one more round of drinks, and sat nearby the water to watch the sunset. The view was almost perfect. We definitely enjoyed it and got some great pictures. On the way out, they had a bunch of shirts and hats for sale, so I scored myself a shirt with the place's logo on the front and back. A little gem hidden in the VB area! I was staying in Sandbridge for the week and it wasn't my first time, however, I never heard of this place! It's a little water-view spot with occasional live music, karaoke, and other fun themed nights for locals and vacationers alike. The staff was friendly and kind, and the food was good enough to return! I got a cesar salad and their new mushroom pasta with blackened chicken. The salad was excellent, I asked for it chopped but they were unsure what I meant, that's ok! The pasta had great flavor but was sitting in a pool of orange grease/oil and was absolutely overloaded with salt. That made it quite difficult to eat BUT the dish has so so much potential!!! Baja has lots of good qualities. For starters, it was the only place that was walking distance from Sanctuary at False Cape. Next, it has a great space indoor and outdoor. Third, it is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The space is awesome. We went during Covid restrictions, so a lot of the outdoor stuff, live music, corn hole, ect. Were all shut down. We still found the space to be nice and "beachy." Baja has there own coffee company so grab a cup and some breakfast items. For lunch and dinner the menu becomes seafood/american style. The coffee we had was good, they have a medium and dark roast options. For dinner, I had Mahi tacos, which were bland and I would not recommend. Chose Baja Restaurant for outdoor seating and high recommendations from a few locals. We were not disappointed! We were seated promptly after a warm welcome. We arrived around 5 due to the toddlers sleep schedule, were a party of 5 and one toddler needing a highchair. Everyone loved their selection! Apps included the Mahi-mahi Bites and cheese dip. The bites we're lightly breaded with tasty salsa and chipotle dip. We ordered the shrimp risotto, poke salad, arugula salad with shrimp, mahi tacos and jambalaya. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The atmosphere was beautiful but I would have to say I was disappointed in our table. We were seated by a wall where two lights above us were out. We could barely see what we were eating after the sun went down. During COVID they did have paper menus of the food but nothing for the extensive drink menu. The waitress just said "what are you looking for". We saw a different waiter showing the menu to a different table and asked if we could see the same. This is on management to improve this. Please give your drink menu out as well. We ordered the steak, which I probably knew would be subpar on the island compared to the NE steakhouses I'm used to from home. It was decent. The shrimp basket was delicious but you will pay quite a bit for fried food. The Baja tacos were so underwhelming. Hardly any shrimp, too much cabbage, and like a teaspoon of salsa. The rice was sticky and flavorless. The drinks were the highlight of the meal so I'm glad we finally got to see that drink menu! We waited an ENTIRE hour for our food. That was somewhat torturous. Again, this is all on the management of the restaurant. In the end, it is one of the few places on Sandbridge Beach so it may be your only choice for a "decent" sit down affair! read more

A locals favorite spot- that I somehow managed to never go to in my 18 years of living in VB. They have a small bar with TVs inside to watch sporting events. We ordered a few of their versions of the Orange Crush, it has a pomegranate liqueur in it. They were very tasty and strong. We ordered their Salmon, coconut shrimp, bacon wrapped scallops and Baja burger. Everyone loved their meals. My salmon was cooked perfectly and had a delicious red sauce with capers, onions, and black olives. It sat atop a bed of cilantro lime rice. Overall, we had a good time at Baja's. It was certainly an interesting experience. We we first arrived, they told us that it would be an hour and a half wait. We decided to wait. When we were finally seated, they seated us outside near the water. It was cool, with a sight breeze and a nice view, so it was perfect. At first, the service was slow, but they were busy and our server was doing her best. We appreciated her effort, with a smile. About 30 minutes into our dinner, the manager came outside to let everyone know that a storm was moving through and that we needed to move in doors. We all grabbed our drinks and proceeded in doors. They obviously didn't have room for everyone, so they and we did our best to accommodate. We found a four top, which sort of worked for our party of six. They located two additional chairs for us, so all was well. When the storm came through, things were chaotic. The staff was running around to close windows and secure outdoor furniture. The storm was intense, so it was a sight to see! Surprisingly, they had our food out to us within minutes and all was well, including amazing service. They had live music, which added to the experience and kept things fun for all the experienced Baja's during the storm. Certainly memorable! read more

Love the location and atmosphere and it is only 10 minutes from our house. Went on Friday to listen to music and sat in the bar outside. The bar had a menu, but when we tried to order, we were told the kitchen was too busy to do any 'to go' orders, even though we were already seated at the bar, listening to live music. And to add insult to injury, we watched the bar workers bring in to go pizza (from the kitchen) for themselves. Apologize for the grumbling, but I was hungry that night. Ha ha we went home after two drinks and no food. I think I would've eaten a squirrel I guess what I'm saying; on a busy Friday night with live music, expect to receive food orders from the bar and be prepared. read more

Our experience at Baja was fantastic, and this place is literally under-rated. We are in town for vacation with another couple. This was our first stop based on the recommendation of a local friend. The atmosphere and decor was great. The space feels so much larger and open than you anticipated from the outside. We were greeted by 3 hosts who quickly got us to a table. I will say my only complaint was that the waitress was not super engaged with our table however that did not hurt the attentiveness and quick service. I tend to hang out on the appetizer menu at a new place so that I can try more than one thing. My wife and I ordered a bowl of she crab soup, which was enormous and packed full of crab. The soup was creamy and rich with the perfect balance of the sherry wine. We also ordered the chorizo dip, and the hushpuppies. We were highly satisfied with both. Lastly we also got the She fries. First off Baja has incredible fries, second, these were covered in the she crab soup and LOTS of crab meat. Our friends who were with us ordered salads and burgers and were all extremely happy with their orders. I was blown away by the amount of food that we got for the price on the appetizer portion of the menu. The main area of the menu was a little higher on the price point, but if the appetizers are a reflection of the portion sizes and taste, I would say it is worth it. It isn't often you take leftovers when you split a few appetizers. I will definitely return, and anyone considering Baja should go. read more
