We went to Chili's for dinner and were seated right away. The first table was too small so they accommodated us with something bigger. The waiter was friendly and told us about the specials. My friends ordered the drink specials and thought they weren't good at all. The dye in the drinks made them taste weird. Kinda like when you get a birthday cake with purple or black dye, you can taste the eww. Lol... But it was pretty if that matters. They all got the triple dippers, and I got the smash burger with fries and corn. I should have followed my gut and got the triple dipper to, because the minute I bit the burger the bread and the meat broke down like a bad relationship!! Yikes.. It was downhill from there. Everyone else enjoyed their meals, while I quietly struggled with mines. Lol. Omg. The corn was good though, as always. I also got complimentary chips and salsa. I've never seen a chip crumble the way those did. They were paper thin and couldn't hold the salsa. Half the chips ended up in the bowl of salsa at the bottom. Lol. I have never experienced that. We need more chip Chili's, because wth happened?! The salsa was watery too, nothing chunky about it. I spent less than $22 so I got over it. But the meal definitely could have been better!!! I'll go back for their chicken strips because their good.

This Chili's is located in the Red Mill Commons shopping center. You can see the restaurant from Nimmo Pkwy. There is ample parking available at this location and the parking is detached from the main shopping center. Things have changed here over the years since my original review roughly ten years ago. The inside has been updated since then, and the server that was not so good there (she was in the bar area) is no longer there as well. The overall vibe is still what one would expect at a Chili's location. I have generally been coming in here during lunch time. I have been taking advantage of the the unlimited soup and salad lunch menu. The food has been really good, and it has done well with not spiking my glucose levels as well, so that is a win-win for me. The service has been great since I have been coming back too. They are very attentive and follow up if anything is needed and such as well. Overall, things have gotten much better here for both the food and service. The menu is always changing, but there's always a good assortment of options to choose from. If you are in the area and looking for a place like Chili's, this location is totally worth visiting.

The food at this Chilis location was far below average. I got spicy shrimp tacos and they tasted very bland. My order came with rice and beans which were both ice cold. Overall my party's food was cold and salty. So salty that the server had to replace orders. Our waitress really hounded my group about ordering food and was completely unfamiliar with the menu. The other servers kept bringing more food to our table that we did not order. Luckily none of the extra food showed up on our tickets. On the upside the staff was nice and they were able to accommodate a mid-size party Saturday afternoon. The restaurant was a bit dirty and worn down looking. I found a long strand of hair just floating in my drink. The music in the men's bathroom was playing at extremely loud volume setting. The ambience was very average maybe a bit below. I persevered through to the end of the meal and the best part was leaving.

I am so disappointed in what this Chili's has become. Before the pandemic, they always got my To Go order correct. But in recent years, my order is never right. It is always missing something that, of course, we paid extra for. This time, we were missing the extra tortillas that we paid for. The time before that we were missing the 2 extra containers of ranch. Also, the portions are smaller. We have been getting the mixed fajitas for years, so I know what the correct portion looks like.

Chili's have the best chips and salsa ever for $5 bucks.... I always come here and get their chips and extra cup of salsa to go. This is the only thing, that I'll eat from Chill's.. Their chips and salsa are better than any Mexican restaurant or grocery store Chips & Salsa.

It was a beautiful evening. Our server was Lauryn, and she was great. She was nice and attentive but not worrisome. We had the Wisconsin Cheese Curds along with the house made Sangria. As an entree, I had the whiskey burger with truffle fries. I really liked the cheese curds; they're a lot flavorful than traditional mozzarella sticks. The house made sangria was really good too! We had to stop ourselves from just sucking it down. The burger is where I had the issue. It was a little on the dry side.... Too well done despite asking for medium. It also wasn't seasoned well. The only flavor rally came from the bbq sauce and onion straws. The truffle fries were good though. The menu said they won't best burger of Virginia Beach, and that was made me get a burger. Not the best burger I've ever had. Next time, I will try the pizza and probably go to the Shore drive location since that is closer to my house. Again, the vibe, service, and scenery was worth the drive.. the food not so much.

We grabbed a drink at the outside bar on a chilly Friday evening. The place fills up quickly once they open, and they didn't seat us early, so if you're looking to eat at a specific time, making a rezzie is wise. I had a glass of white wine and my husband had an old fashioned. The OF was good, but the bartender used a shaker for it, which is a huge no-no and sort of bartending 101. You don't water down an old fashioned before serving it; that's what the ice cube is for :) We started with the crab dip which was probably the best thing I had all night. The homemade tortilla chips were great! I had another drink called the something Blossom which was just ok. Wasn't worth $13. Scallops for dinner with sweet potato fries and green beans. The scallops were great; the fries were awful. They were charred to a crisp and very stringy. My husband had the soft shell crab sandwich and that was delicious. His sides were also very disappointing. The view is what makes this place appealing and the live music was a great touch! It's definitely a popular local spot. We got a piece of key lime to go and I didn't care for it. That's my favorite dessert of all time, but I wouldn't get it here. The lime taste is too fake. The service wasn't all that great. The staff here is a little rough around the edges. Our waitress maybe checked on us twice in a 1.5 hour sitting and didn't fill waters at all. She barely stayed at the table to ask if we had any comments about the meal after our food arrived and we needed a few items. We would return, but would like to see some improvements and would come back when it's warmer so we can experience more of the outside.

They are located behind the Panera Bread and can be seen from Upton Dr. My most recent visit here was on January 18, 2026. From the outside, you can see the sign for the business on the side and out front. There is some limited outdoor seating as well. With other businesses along that stretch and such, parking can be limited during peak times. I can attest to that as parking was limited when I came on January 16, 2026 (this wasn't an issue on the most recent visit). The reason for two visits pretty close together was because this was during Virginia Beach Restaurant Week. The visit on January 16, 2026 was for dinner and the visit on January 18, 2026 was for breakfast. Starting with the dinner visit on January 16, 2025, it was already pretty busy in there as there was a large party event going on with half of the seating area. This probably explains why parking was limited that evening. Even though that was the case, we were immediately greeted and able to be seated. It wasn't long before our server Megan came to the table. She asked us what we wanted to drink. I went with water with lemon and mom got a coke. It would take us a bit of time to choose what we wanted. I ended up going with the Firecracker Shrimp appetizer and Fried Shrimp Platter for the entree. My mom went with the Corn Chowder appetizer and Crab Cake Dinner as the entree. After about five minutes, the appetizers came out to the table. The Firecracker Shrimp were very tasty and flavorful. My mom loved the Corn Chowder that she ordered. About ten minutes after that, the entrees came to the table. Both foods looked good and they were hot as expected. I really liked the fried shrimp as it wasn't overly breaded either. It had a great taste. The fries were good too, and they were like an indulgence for me. The coleslaw was good too. My mom liked the Crab Cake Dinner that she had. The last part was the dessert. I knew this would spike my blood sugars, but I went with the Peanut Butter Pie, and my mom went with the Oreo Outlaw dessert. It didn't take long for those to come out, and that was the ultimate indulgence to finish off the evening. The second visit during the morning on January 18, 2026 for the Breakfast/Lunch version of their restaurant week menu. This was the first time I had been here for breakfast. We had the same server we had a few days before at the dinner version. On this visit, for the appetizer, I decided to try the Risotto Bites and my mom had the Corn Chowder again. For the entree, we both did the Classic French Toast, though I did mine with bacon, and my mom did hers with Edwards Sausage. The Risotto Bites were really good and had a nice flavor to them. The Classic French Toast was a great indulgence for me too. It was soft and hot. The bacon was great too. Overall, I have had some great experiences here recently. The food and service are top notch. There is ample seating inside, and there is some limited outdoor seating. They have daily food specials during the week too. This is definitely a locally owned place to check out for any meal of the day.

Although we sat outside (because we were dining with a dog), we never had to wait too long for the waitress to check on us. Every 5-10 minutes, she dropped by to make sure things were going well and to refill our coffee. Since The Egg Bistro has a HUGE breakfast menu, I'm sure everyone should be able to find something that they will/might enjoy. For my dining pleasure, I tried something new and went with the Bennie & the Grits. This dish piqued my interest because I never heard of grits cakes in the four decades of living on this planet. For about 20 bucks, the dish included three fried grit cakes with ground sausage, grilled shrimp, more sausage, two poached eggs and a side. Although the serving size was HUGE, I was not a bit fan of the dish. Note, I didn't think the dish was prepared badly, I just didn't get the concept of the fried grits (this from a grits lover); however, everything else with the dish was pretty good. If you are a Bloody Mary lover, you might some interesting varieties of Bloody Marys here. Additionally, I really appreciated that The Egg Bistro ranks the Bloody Marys based on spice level. Overall, I definitely would not mind visiting this location during a future trip to Va Beach. They've made some updates since my last review. I noticed they swapped out the bar stools for what seem to be a bit more accommodating in style. I believe they have a cornhole section and from what I could tell, an area that could be really fun during the warmer months. The overall vibe is so quirky, cool, different, and I just love how it's decorated. The other locations have the same sort of intrigue but in much different ways. I still love the OG Bay Local and probably need to visit there again to be reminded of why we fell in love in the first place, but the location on General Booth... hard to beat, especially being so close. Another positive is the food quantity, quality, and price for what you are getting. Sure, almost every food establishment had to raise their price, but Bay Local seem to be very reasonable, ESPECIALLY for what you get. I know several other places that have good food, but you are paying several dollars more for what Bay Local offers that is similar (in some cases) but not slacking on portion control and quality. That is huge! Bay Local is a "well-oiled machine" with management, staff, and operations (not their first rodeo). Come in hungry & ready to be kind to wait staff as they are totally kicking butt at their service game! :)
