It only took a few minutes to get our drinks, and the service stayed quick and attentive even with food coming out of the kitchen. The bartender was awesome super friendly and gave great recommendations that definitely paid off. We tried the crab dip, and that was a standout. It's made with real crab and has a great crab-to-cheese ratio (not overly heavy like some places). Everything we ordered came out hot and fresh, which is always a big plus. The atmosphere was fun and laid-back, with early 2000s hits playing across all genres--kind of nostalgic in the best way. One thing to note: there is a bag ID and security check before entering, which might catch you off guard if you're not expecting it, but it didn't slow things down much. Stopped in after dinner for a little night cap. The live music caught my attention and won me over. I got in and hit the bar. Though there was a crowd it's easy maneuvering between bars to get a drink. The band that was performing was pretty good as well. I hope the residential developments don't affect their ability to continue to have live music into the night. read more

Tony and I was here for his 57th birthday, sitting outside in the enclosed area enjoying people watching. My daughter and her boyfriend was near by getting their pics taken at an Old Time Photo location and we were enjoying the nice weather, a cold beer and soda for me and enjoying the floor shop of tourist walking by on the sidewalk. One drunk couple at 5pm in the day was fighting on the sidewalk. That was amusing until the police arrived. We didn't eat anything here because we just had a big feast at the marina at Rudee Inlet but we enjoyed the dive bar atmosphere, the nice bartender and the few drinks we enjoyed while people watching. The only reason for four stars was some very obnoxious patrons that were out on the patio where we were dining. If you like seafood, especially oysters, this is the spot to eat at in Virginia Beach. The menu is simple, but the food has a lot to offer. For example, the surf side nachos are plentiful and have the perfect amount of cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes. Plus, you get shredded chicken, shrimp, and bacon. All of the ingredients mix well and taste amazing. Now, the Rockefeller oysters are insanely delicious. I'm not certain what's in their recipe, but it's rich and satisfying. I'm also a huge fan of the raw oysters here. They are large and consistently taste fresh. Additionally, the staff members are extremely nice and quick to serve. The atmosphere is divey, but clean. AMAZING! My boyfriend and I have been on vacation for a week now and have been disappointed by pretty much every meal. Jon walked us through the menu and the draft selections. We went with a dozen raw oysters, a dozen Rockefeller, and a dozen Clams Casino. They were all great. If you're looking for a non touristy place, this is the place to go that's in walking distance of the hotels. The menu offers more than a raw bar and the atmosphere if dark and grungy, if you like that type of bar. The seafood special was very good, although the shrimp did not come peeled for deveined, so if you are ready to work for your meal it's worth it. The waiter and chef were the same person. I'm not a 1 star reviewer. Most of the time, if I have a bad experience at a restaurant, I'll wait it out and give them another shot--or I'll just keep my mouth shut and let other people tell their stories. I prefer to be positive and help out small businesses. Well clearly that didn't happen with Seaside Raw Bar and here's why.... I came here with a few friends after the 2013 Neptune Wine Fest. One of our group was a Seaside Raw Bar regular many years ago and wanted to try it out again. My initial impression upon walking in was that it was a little run down and a little dirty--but I dig that kind of place as long as they have excellent food. Our waiter showed up at the table pretty promptly and asked for our drink orders. After a long day of wine we were content with just starting out with water--so we ordered 5 waters. The waiter was visibly annoyed that we weren't ordering alcohol and walked off to get our drinks. He came back, negative attitude through the roof, and slapped our water (in red solo cups) on the table and left again. "The food better be good" is all I could think. Several minutes later another waiter showed up at the table. He informed us that the first waiter had "quit" and that he would be our server now. This was a little strange, but whatever. We put in our orders and it was about the time that he started reading the orders back to us that we all realized he was slurring pretty heavy. Now I'm aware that there are people that have disorders that cause them to slur their speech, but I was definitely getting a "drunk" vibe from this server. Even that, to me, is fine--as long as my food is good. I had expected by this point for our original server, who "quit", to have hung up his apron and left the building. But that wasn't the case. He was still working with other customers and walking around behind the bar. He continued to do so even as we were leaving the restaurant. He clearly just couldn't handle the fact that we ordered water and not alcohol. I got the oysters rockefeller and my girlfriend got the lobster tails. The food didn't come out too much later. The oysters rockefeller were really good. I was impressed. They had redeemed themsel----nope. My girlfriend's lobster tails were raw. If I had to guess, they were frozen and clearly didn't thaw out enough before being steamed. For $30 and the proximity to the ocean, I expect a hell of a lot better than raw lobster. I'll add a picture of the raw lobster tails to the photos for this restauraunt. Do yourself a favor and skip Seaside Raw Bar, unless of course, you're John Taffer and want to come do an episode of Bar Rescue. read more

This was the best seafood restaurant we went to during our vacation. The seafood was very fresh and the staff was very friendly. I got a 1/2 pound of shrimp and my boyfriend got a mix of oysters, shrimp, and crab legs. I loved it so much. Everyone who loves seafood should try this place. I'm definitely coming back during my next visit to VA beach. The atmosphere is a very relaxed bar. I went here to meet up with an old friend. While I ate I had Key Lime Pie, and Garlic Bread. The food is worth writing about. It was well seasoned and actually delicious and affordable. You get what you pay for. The staff was laid back, had wonderful customer service. Miah the stage guy was friendly and helpful , Charlie was great bartender, easy to talk to you. The music was oldies and Top 40. I enjoyed my time there. When I come back to VaBeach I will be sure to go back to Seaside Raw Bar. I like the new outdoor stage setup. To bad Shakas Shutdown. I've always heard such great things about bring your new beach and so I had a good time at the beach although the water was murky and brown it was the most crowded area I have ever been to as far as a beach town is concerned. We were excited to walk up to strip and find a place that had seafood that wasn't fried but when I got my oysters they were room temp, The horseradish was completely flavorless and when we ordered shots they tasted like water.
