Food was very good and reasonably priced but the restaurant is extremely under-staffed.

We stumbled upon Mahi's the very first night when we arrived in Va Beach... which was on late on a Thursday. We just wanted to drink and our bartender Mike (hope that is his name) understood the assignment! We loved his personality so much that we came back just for him the next day. We took advantage of their lunch menu and ate from that menu. They have a happy hour which we took advantage of every single day; the drinks were not watered down and they allowed you to take them to-go. Mahi's was literally our go-to spot on the beach. Ambiance is that of a beach restaurant. One side is giving beach vibes and the other is screaming I am trying to remain sophisticated. For the girlies who love to dress to impress you'll be the star of the show here but do it! Fine "fine" dining is just not what Va Beach is known for so Mahi's is the spot to be pretty. Shine girl shine! We loved this place and although we attempted to try other spots our tastebuds kept us coming back. Let's get into it! Mahi's Rocks is their rendition of Oyster Rockefeller - The best he's ever had and I'd say pretty darn good! Ordered them every day we went. Fresh Fish of the Day - Mahi Mahi made medium and it was PERFECT! Seafood Pasta - I came and got this exact meal twice in a row. I'm not a fan of scallops and asked for crab. It was the best pasta I've had in a long time. Blackened Mahi Mahi sandwich - So GOOD! Ate it all! That's telling. Mahi's Smash Burger - He LOVED IT! Drinks were always perfect! The found at Mahi's was just okay but in comparison to other restaurants on the beach it was better. It has more of a cute atmosphere and a nice place to go if you want to get semi dressed up like business casual. Overall I haven't had the best cuisine on Virginia Beach. The food has just been okay. I tried the crab stuff shrimp for an appetizer but I would skip that particular appetizer because you only get 3 small shrimp for $17. Not worth the price at all! It literally looked like they just placed some crab cake on top of three pieces of shrimp. Nothing worth wild. As for my main meal I got the poke bowl with cooked tuna. The tuna was okay but I enjoyed the other ingredients in the bowl better than the tuna. One thing I did like about this restaurant is that they had someone coming around taking photos so my sister and I got some very cute photos with our dad. read more

Ok we love Mahi's when we are visiting the ocean front. They have the best happy hour and atmosphere is amazing....nothing better than sitting on the board walk watching the people walk by and enjoying a good meal with friends. Ordered the fresh catch of the day salmon that was pan seared and succotash with mashed potatoes. I love getting my salmon medium because it melts in your mouth. The portions were huge and everything was delicious. You can't come to va beach with out ordering a crush or two. I loved the key lime crush it was so refreshing and will be one I would order over and over again. I really enjoyed my Thursday night catching up with family and a live band just a few tables away on the boardwalk. Our server was fantastic and went the extra mile. I love Mahi's. They have a really nice patio area and outdoor bar that is bumping in summer and there is usually live music outside in the middle area between them and Chic's. The menu is large and full of seafood and other items to satisfy those who don't like fish. I especially love their steamed shrimp bc it's served in like a white wine sauce or something that is SO good. Very large and delicious shrimp too. I craved it while pregnant and got it all the time. They have a nice and various menu with a kid's menu with a killer burger and fries - like, legit if she doesn't eat it I'm going to. Service is always kind and the inside is pretty. I'm a fan. It was a busy night but we had great service for our party of 6! The blackened fish tacos were loaded up and delicious. Although just a side, the fries were also SO amazing -- pro tip ask for extra old bay to dip the fries in! Not to mention the key lime crush which was probably the drink I've ever had. I went with the Maryland-style crab cake (as a Marylander myself), and while it didn't quite match true Maryland standards, it was still enjoyable cant be too picky. We came here to stop by to eat with a couple of our friends since we were on vacation. Since it's an ocean front type of restaurant (part of a hotel) we had an idea of what was going on. I think the food itself was not bad. I got the lobster grilled cheese, which I was thinking was something else, but what came out was well, you guessed a grilled cheese with lobster inside. I think in my mind it was going to be something more substantial, but what came out was some okay bread and in between, cheese and lobster. We came here last year and had a much better experience. The food didn't impress my family as much as last year and we ordered the crab dip which we loved last year and it just tasted microwaved. The rest of the food was pretty good we had the pasta, the salmon, the scallops and the chicken tenders. Our service was not the best but just okay. An overall excellent experience at Mahi's from the management, our waiter, wait times, food and drinks. I had walked in on a Sunday, mid-afternoon asking to speak to a manager about a last minute reservation that evening to accommodate 20-25 people. Shay was absolutely great to work with and told me our tables would be ready at the time requested. We were sat in a back room with plenty of space amongst everyone. Our waiter Zach was awesome handling our entire party throughout our time there and he had a great personality. Everyone was very happy with their meals and drinks. Almost fine dining style food however you walk into the restaurant and the decor and seating are plain and simple. The waiter we had was amazing and welcoming. A local favorite, definitely amongst my family, I planned to surprise my mom for her birthday with dinner. We made a reservation a few weeks in advance for our large group. That was an easy process and they checked in with me to make sure we were still coming. Upon entry, the staff was wonderful and very accommodating. They were attentive and made sure our large party was happy. The birthday girl thoroughly enjoyed herself; the drinks, the food, the service were all amazing. From start to finish, I enjoyed my visit to Mahi's. Our sitting was perfect with views of the boardwalk and ocean. We seemed to arrive at the perfect time before dusk, allowing us to enjoy the sunset and sound of ocean waves. After nightfall, we were able to enjoy live music coming from the boardwalk. Our cocktails were very tasty, and the Oysters Rockefeller was a satisfying start. Our server was great and easily answered my questions about items on the menu. For dinner, I chose the crab cakes, and my husband had the fish and chips. I couldn't resist stealing a few fries off his plate. Potatoes are my weakness, lol. Everything was absolutely delicious and picture worthy. We couldn't resist finishing the meal with dessert. I chose key lime pie to keep the beach vibes going, and my husband ordered the Chef's Cheesecake, and boy, am I happy he did! While a bit tart, my key lime pie was so good, but y'all that cheesecake was creamy deliciousness! It was so good, and I will definitely be ordering it on my next visit. I did like the salmon burger though! Our server was super nice, even though we kinda waited long. We had a weird experience with a photographer there. We visited your resaurant on March 8th celebrating our 46th anniversary. We ate here once before and had a pleasant experience. Unfortunately this night we waited 30 plus minutes for our food and the food came out luke warm even cold which was not what we had expected.This was very dissappointing. Mahi is certainly worth a visit. Hasn't been in over 10 years but tried again with family last weekend. Extensive menu and great tasting food, lots of sushi items. Highly recommend Mahi's! We happened to be staying at the DoubleTree hotel where the restaurant is located so it was a convenient option for lunch. Stopped by on a Tuesday and the place was completely empty! Perfect for us, we got the best seating outside where we could enjoy the beautiful beach views. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. She came to check on us when needed but not too much, which we prefer. My husband and I shared their lobster grilled cheese and the boardwalk fries. Both items were delicious! I'm not a huge fan of seafood but my husband is and he liked the lobster. It's also a very cheesy grilled cheese which he loved. A bit pricey ($28) for a sandwich but that's to be expected in a tourist area. The boardwalk fries were pretty good, I do wish they had a bit more topping but next time I'm sure we can ask for extra. They assessed wait time to be 20 minutes initially and it turned into 45 minutes despite the empty tables. They simply were not in good communication with staff from the back. This restaurant seems pretty new, but i do believe it's been around for a while. The ambiance is perfect inside and outside on the patio. It is right on the beach. The breeze is perfect as the patio has more than enough shade. We went on a weekday, as they have happy hour 2-6 M-F with unlimited crab legs! They have a pretty extensive menu so they don't only have crab legs. They specialize in sushi as well. Our server was very nice and checked on us regularly even though we were only really getting the unlimited crab legs. I will be back for sure read more

I have not eaten at this restaurant since they revamped everything, but my husbae and I have enjoyed drinks at the bar a few times and vibes have been chill. Both times we visited, the bar hasn't been too rowdy nor filled with a lot of people. But just recently, this past Sunday, we sat down about 3pm and by 4pm the bar was pretty much surrounded with guests. I did notice some people ordered food while others just enjoyed drinks and even the games on television - NBA playoffs. I may have her name wrong, but I believe the bartender's name is Rachel. She was quite a pleasure and personable. She took care of the bar by herself and held it down. She even had time to greet regulars while keeping everyone's drink refreshed. I am looking forward to visiting soon to try the food. The food I saw in front of others, smelled and looked oh so yummy. This restaurant is oceanfront if dining outdoors, but the bar is only indoors with view of the ocean. There is other seating available other than the bar.
