VA Beach Crunch Roll
Lisa O.

Decent size place with plenty of seating. I like that there are sections of seating. More intimate. Our server was great. I had a couple of questions and she was more than happy to help. I ordered a hot tea right away because it was super cold out. She brought it right away. We ordered appetizers and when my husband also ordered a hot tea she brought us an entire pot of hot tea. THat was FANTASTIC. I had never been brought the whole pot of tea before. Our appetizers came quickly but the flavor and consistency of the Gyoza- pork dumpling were underwhelming. We also got the Yakitori-grilled chicken skewers, They were nice and hot but the texture was like they were raw in the middle. Main Food came quickly as well. Ordered the Rainbow Roll, that was good and we also ordered the VA Beach Crunch Roll-it says spicy tuna but it really wasn't spicy. We enjoyed the flavor and freshness of our rolls. If you happen to look up at the ceiling you will see where someone has shot toothpicks up there. Totally bizarre. Overall I will give them a solid 4. They would have gotten a 5 but the appetizers were not that great. Everything else was good.

Wine Menu 7/21

3 years from my last review and the place is still awesome. As always I sat at the bar and Charlie helped me and was very friendly. Didn't have to ask for water and my wine was always full. They are under new ownership but nothing has changed. Same fresh and tasty rolls. Same best dressing ever. I could eat it everyday. In fact I usually don't like a lot of dressing on my salad but this dressing makes me want to drown my salad. I wonder if they sell it to go????? I got the Watermelon and Carli roll and both were so fresh. I was hesitant to get the Carli because of the bacon but it didn't overwhelm the sushi. And the Watermelon is still my favorite. I do hope the new owners make some changes to make it more their restaurant. Maybe weekly roll specials. Or a Bento Box. I do love a Bento Box. Or since they are so close to the beach a Beach Bento Box specifically designed for beachgoers. Anyways.....prices did go up a little bit but that's the norm these days. I will be back.

Super cute little restaurant!! Sushi was SUPER fresh & tasty, specifically the Nigiri, they don't skimp on the fish portions! But, unfortunately very understaffed! Only 1 server in the restaurant (who was great) even though it was fairly busy which caused our food to take awhile, although we were not in any rush so it was okay.

Staff was super friendly. The place is pretty clean. The food tasted OK pretty in line with other sushi spots in the area, just significantly more expensive.

Gyoza, because who doesn't love a good dumpling?!?

I live for "true" sushi, so asking a server what to get for someone who is not particularly interested in raw (or seaweed/kelp/any form of vegetable) was entertaining! Luckily she knew her stuff well and walked me through four rolls (my entire final vaca lunch was sushi, my daughter loves a good roll also, and then introducing my bf to some new things), as well as the teriyaki/hibachi for those less adventurous with this said, I ate the entire "burrito" sliced roll but for two, one for him to try and one for the daughter! As well as well over half a volcano roll, and some of the obligatory Philadelphia lol... no nigeri or sashimi on this day, as I wanted to help people realize they don't have to eat raw fish (I still giggle) in order to enjoy! Again, SUPER amazing staff, really knowledgeable and an AMAZING location near Neptune Statue! We will be back next time in town as well, thanks for being there and making really amazing !

Delish sushi, fresh and tasty. Decent seating and the staff is friendly, the "kitchen" staff has issues keeping up if they are busy, but worth the wait. Great location at the north end of the resort.

Run Crunching Tiger Roll, further out is the Watermelon Roll
C H.

We ordered the watermelon roll and crunching tiger roll. We enjoyed the watermelon roll very very much! It was very refreshing, the roll has avocado and fish, and is named after the pink and green colors, not the fruit. We thought the name of crunching tiger was a funny play on words and sounded like crouching tiger. We were worried that our parking meter would run out, but I was grateful when we had the excellent idea to send one of us down to the car before the meter ran out, and the other person take care of the check. The vibe is very relaxing and chill. Servers are very busy, but non intrusive. Overall had a great experience after a stressful trip to a beach I was unfamiliar with.

My favorite spot to get sushi, always great ambiance, a calm place to have a nice lunch or dinner.

Surf and Turf Roll on left and (I think) the Dragon Roll on right.
Mary K.

That Surf & Turf sushi roll was amazingly delicious. I need to figure out how to convince my local sushi spot (in Baltimore) to add something similar to their menu. The miso soup was good too!

Carli Roll. Bacon in sushi? Yes please.

Do you have garlic edamame?

We have salted edamame so I don't see why we couldn't do garlic edamame but it would need to be requested as it is not on our menu

Does this place serve quail eggs? My #1 factor for best sushi place is that they have quail eggs and will serve me gunkan with quail egg (sushi wrapped with seaweed, rice inside, fish or fish eggs on top with quail egg nested in the middle).

Yes we do all that!

The menu prices are a couple bucks more than other places I've tried, but keeping an open mind. I ordered the "Bento Special" it comes with soup, salad, rice, half calif roll and your choice of protein. I ordered the shrimp tempura. Also ordered side of salmon roll. The tago container gives a nice presentation. But let's move in to the food. The salad dressing was okay it seemed a little watered down not much flavor. Soup was good and tasty. California roll was fine. The assortment of tempura was nice, but you get 2pcs of shrimp. All in all the Bento Special was pretty okay! Now going on with my side of salmon roll. Well, I always take a pic so you all can see the ratio if rice and protein. And look st my pic. Too much rice! I had to even take some out of the roll. I will probably tell them half of rice in my sushi roll. All in all ...I will come back and try their other dishes, and make sure to tell them to cut down on the rice for the rolls.

That being said, I ordered from Sushi Vice. I'm not hating it. Before I placed my order with DoorDash, I actually called the restaurant and requested that they include cups of soy sauce and chopsticks, etc., because I was staying in the hotel. I only did this because if you order off DoorDash's menu, you cannot include Notes to the restaurant. It's ridiculous. With all that being said, I could not believe it when my order arrived it was exactly as I requested. It's not really a sushi joint. It's more of an Asian fusion type place and they have a very limited menu, but what they do have is very, very good. I highly recommend trying that beef fried rice thing. I've included a picture of it. It was freaking awesome. You won't be disappointed, but I would strongly suggest going to the restaurant and you'll probably even have a better meal. The next time I'm in Virginia Beach, which is quite often I'll probably just drop in to the restaurant myself.

It's not a buffet. And you can order as much as you want, each time. For example, we have 4 adults in our party. My order will go like this: 2 rolls (6pcs per roll) of Spicy Girl, 1 roll of Philly, 1 plate of BBQ squid, 1 chicken yakisoba, 1 avocado salad. And all that's going to come to you. Next round, you order all new items, as much as you want. I'm an including photos of the lunch menu. You can order all you want, over and over, from everything on that menu photo. Are your starting to see the possibilities? Even at lunch, you have the option to use the dinner menu, which costs $5 or $10 per head. It gives you even more options and items. We haven't tried those yet. So we all are Asian food conisseurs. We like quality sushi. We like good Korean BBQ. We love good Japanese restaurants, so how does the food compare here? It's say it's pretty darn good for $19.99 per head, unlimited. The sushi is maybe 1 step above buffet sushi, but it's good. The Yakisoba is almost as good as a Japanese restaurant. The Miso soup is fully just as good. The shrimp tempura is not quite as good as a Japanese restaurant, but for this price and unlimited, yeah it's really decent. The Bbq squid is exquisite. I can't say enough about that. The chicken nuggets and fries were even good. Both servers we've had were Jonny on the spot with recording and drink refills. I mean both times I got 5 refills on the Diet Coke and never had to wait. Impressive. It's our new place after church and we rotate it between here and Chic-n-roll.
