So I was staying at a little hotel on the beach and I decided to be lazy and just order from DoorDash. That was my mistake. DoorDash is so expensive and a complete rip off. That being said, I ordered from Sushi Vice. I'm not hating it. Before I placed my order with DoorDash, I actually called the restaurant and requested that they include cups of soy sauce and chopsticks, etc., because I was staying in the hotel. I only did this because if you order off DoorDash's menu, you cannot include Notes to the restaurant. It's ridiculous. With all that being said, I could not believe it when my order arrived it was exactly as I requested. It's not really a sushi joint. It's more of an Asian fusion type place and they have a very limited menu, but what they do have is very, very good. I highly recommend trying that beef fried rice thing. I've included a picture of it. It was freaking awesome. You won't be disappointed, but I would strongly suggest going to the restaurant and you'll probably even have a better meal. First time here, and I was expecting a little bit more, especially with all the reviews and hype around this place. Sushi Vice has a retro beach vibe to it. The dining area inside is small, but it can still accommodate maybe one big group. There's also outdoor seating available. We came for an early dinner on a weekday, and it started getting busy pretty quickly. They were able to accommodate our large party inside since we had little kids with us, though we did have to split into two tables. Since we had small kids, the menu doesn't really cater much to them aside from the fried rice, but they were able to make a non-spicy version upon request. On July 16th, 2025, I met up some friends to check out this spot. Sushi Vice is kind of the sushi spot du jour - it seemed as if everyone was talking about it. Being a sushi fan, I was excited to check them out. When I arrived, Tina and Nita were already sitting at the bar. We were greeted and served by Ivy - she was friendly and informative, and worked quickly. Sushi Vice is a small venue, but they have outdoor seating. Its interior looks spiffy, though, and everything was clean and organized. The three of us ordered and shared the following: Back to the Fried Rice - not bad (something was up with the rice - they may have used brand new rice, not day old rice); not much beef, though The Buster - good, but I personally could go without the cream cheese E.T. Edamame - being anti-edamame, this is the one item I didn't try (haha) The Goonie - nice combo of tuna & shrimp tempura The Jack Burton - this is a memorable roll Saynoelmore Roll - pineapple is a nice refreshing touch Spicy Tuna Roll - not bad The Sunny D Roll - solid combo of shrimp tempura & salmon Terminator Tataki - this was fantastic As you can tell, Sushi Vice subscribes to a movie/TV-themed esthetic. The name Sushi Vice alludes to the 80s NBC television series Miami Vice. Being a film geek, this is a fun approach. I also ordered some nigiri, mainly because I was very hungry that evening, but partially because their rolls are a little small. Since their price points are high, small rolls are a drawback, but Sushi Vice's food is tasty. Vice offers specialty drinks, which (I believe) Tina had one. I kept things simple with a bottled beer or two. I just wanted to pig out on sushi. Overall, I think Sushi Vice is good, but not great. Their focus is on rolls, whereas I slightly prefer the simplicity of the fish and rice. That means the nigiri was a make or break aspect. So although their nigiri is solid, it's not outstanding. Always wanted to try their sushi back when this was a food truck called Vang's Sushi, stalking their IG page and drooling over all the sushi they were featuring, but the timing was never right, especially when they were at CoVa Brewery which is close to me. Once I found out they had a brick & mortar place, my chances of going got better and I have had the pleasure of dining there twice now. Once on 12/04/24 and then most recently on 03/12/2025 and both times were just fantastic. We started with their E.T. Edamame both times and their house sauce and toppings they put on it is just so delicious I wanted to take what was leftover in the bowl and take it home lol if they sold that by the bottle I totally be for it! The place is quaint and you can tell the locals frequent this place. The items we ordered were tasty and visually appealing. The drinks were also pretty . That said, I will say the sushi here is more like a beginner/entry level when it comes to being . Not a lot of raw items and most of the rolls are fried shrimp tempura based. It's more like gentrified sushi to me. As long as you aren't a die hard Japanese sushi/sashimi cuisine connoisseur, it is a great hang out with friends type of place or if you are just learning to enjoy sushi. The whole 80's theme is great and I loved the different names they use for their drinks and rolls. The surprise highlight of all the items we ordered was the edamame app. I normally eat the edamame pods with some salt, but they add a sambal based house sauce that makes for a nice twist. The drinks she made were so tasty and refreshing and she picked up on the fact that I preferred a more silent service which I appreciated. I ordered the pretty woman and a plum sake. Both delightful and sweet. The sushi rolls I tried were the Miami Vice and Marty Mcfly. While I was disappointed in the size and quality of the sushi rolls the flavors made up for it. The Marty Mcfly knocked my socks off, it had the perfect blend of sweet and tangy sauces. Highly recommend. Normal basic rolls are subpar (Spicy Tuna), Salmon, Phill, Indiana Jon, Bustler/Buster don't really recall removed from memory immediately. Hostess was off putting didn't really answer me when I asked if the bar has open seating, it did not. Asked for an estimated time to sit wasn't given one just a phone number to sit, which is fine, just a response would have been nice. Asked her one more time about the bar when I came back to be seated if it was bar open seating she quite literally starred at me and ignored me. Waitress had a long day maybe, only courtesy was shown before getting the bill and when getting the bill asked for change from a 10$ she brought back a 10$ and a 1$ bill, which by the way the extra 1$ wasn't mine to have. Indoor and outdoor seating, a bar and about 6 tables. We ordered the New Jack Nigeri which came with 2 pieces of tuna and 2 pieces of salmon. Very fresh! I ordered the Miami Vice (crab, cucumber, tuna, avocado and other delicious ingredients) and the Tiger Bomb (tuna, avocado, spicy crab salad and other fresh, delicious ingredients) My husband stuck with the basic rolls....spicy tuna, spicy salmon. I had high hopes for this place from all the great reviews. But, they must've been written by their friends. First, I ordered the Chardonnay, they only have Canyon Road, (crappy little wine but it is a Chardonnay) but I was served some sort peach flavored Riesling. The server asked and I told her it wasn't a Chardonnay. She took it to the kitchen and brought me back the same wine. She asked if I liked that one better and I told her she brought me the exact same wine. She swore she poured it out of the bottle but obviously someone is refilling the bottle with boxed wine. I didn't drink it, she did take it off the bill. We ordered their house special edamame, it was good. The cucumber salad wasn't what we expected but good. The sushi however was not. The California roll, don't expect much there, but granddaughter wouldn't eat it. I had the sashimi, it was dreadful, very fishy, this not fresh. This restaurant serves a variety of "basic rolls" (tuna, Philly, California, etc) plus their own "signature rolls" that I have not seen anywhere else. I had some basic rolls plus one of the signature rolls. I thought the rolls were mediocre. Rice seemed a bit dry and overall they were pretty tasteless. I noticed that the chef that night looked like some kid, not an experienced sushi chef and definitely not Japanese, which could have something to do with it. The staff was pleasant and attentive.
