The strawberries were delicious on these sushi rolls. We also had the Steak and Chicken Hibachi and enjoyed that as well. It's a cute little spot and we snuck in before the dinner crowd. Very friendly staff as well.

Another great find in Virginia Beach! An unassuming location at a shopping center. Once you step inside, you're greeted with an immaculately clean and comfortable restaurant. The menu has plenty of options - from sashimi, special rolls, combos, hibachi, and teriyaki - there's great options for everyone. They also serve genmai green tea, which is one of my favorites. The portions are great as well - usually I can finish two sushi rolls no problem, but here the rolls were so filling, I could only do 1 1/2! Very pleased with the meal and the service.

My Mr. and I was craving sushi. I of course went on Yelp and found 3 places but this place had the best reviews. So you know we had to check them out. We walked in and was seated right away. Such a small place but when you look at the menu, they had so much to offer. From lunch specials, bento boxes, hibachi, dinner selections selection and an awesome sushi line up. The menu was not overwhelming but had enough for you to choose from. We visited during lunch time and it was steady. We ordered: Sho Chiku Bai Nigori saki (375 oz) Aged tofu (lightly fried) Gyoza (pan fried shrimp dumpling) Spicy scallop roll Tuna avocado roll Manhattan roll We started off with appetizers. Never have I been to a Japanese restaurant where they serve shrimp gyoza. Most places only serve chicken or pork. I had to take advantage of this. The aged tofu was amazing! The sauce helped but was good alone. The sushi's was top notch. Fresh rice and all complimented well together. The spicy scallops did not have a kick but after adding wasabi, it gave it some flavor. The bottle of saki went well with our meals. Our server was very kind, helpful and attentive. We really like the service and overall was a great experience. We highly recommend this place.

Great food! Fast, attentive service. They have a new combo special - three specialty rolls, soup, and salad for $19. Can't beat that!

We heard this restaurant has great sushi so we decided to give it a try. We walked in and was immediately seated. We got our drinks and after looking at the menu for a few minutes put in our order. The shrimp/veggie tempura app was delicious. Lightly breaded with the panko and very crunchy. Between the 4 of us. It was gone in seconds. Our combo dinners also came with miso soup and the house salad. Both very good. I loved the light dressing on the salad. Our orders didn't take long to come out. The kiddo got katsu chicken and kids chicken teriyaki that came in a cute little boat. They loved their food. They also ordered a shrimp tempura roll to share. I got a combo that came with 2 rolls. Both very good. My husband got the sashimi combo which he loved and was all very fresh. He also got a volcano roll that is always good. The staff was very friendly and always checked up on us to see if we needed anything else. Their menu selection has plenty to choose from. Lots of different sushi rolls and even lots of kitchen entrees for those not as adventurous like hibachi, fried rice, noodles. We definitely wanna go back for more!

Absolutely the best! Came here with family for dinner and the treatment was amazing. The food was delicious.

Gyoza, aged Age Tofu, sake, and a beautiful view.

My lady and I were feeling like sushi for lunch when we found this spot right here on Yelp. It got excellent reviews so we figured it was certainly worth a try. Was it? Absolutely! The place itself is a bit on the small side but has plenty of seating in booths and in front of the sushi bar. The menu is loaded with lots of sushi options but also other features if you're not quite into sushi. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive. My lady and I started out with some shrimp gyoza, fried aged tofu, and a bottle of Sho Chiku Bai Nigori sake (served chilled). Both the gyoza and tofu were delicious and went well with the sake. After those, we ordered some sushi rolls; one spicy tuna roll, one scallop roll, and one Manhattan roll (smoked salmon and cream cheese tempura fried). All of them were fantastic! So much so that decided a favorite was VERY tough. After we were done, we felt just full enough, not too little and not too much. With so many food options on General Booth Blvd, sometimes picking one out is a challenge, but Sapporo East is definitely worth a stop for good, fresh sushi. Next time we're in the area, we'd absolutely go again.

The food epitomizes what a family owned sushi restaurant should be, simple and delicious. The salmon roll, spicy tuna, and California rolls were all stuffed with ample fresh tasting fish. The wait staff was extremely friendly as well. Definitely a no fuss excellent experience. Yummers in my tummers!

First time dining here. Place is small but doesn't feel small. The tables with chairs were comfy and classy looking. Not your normal restaurant chair. We were greeted quickly and drink orders taken timely. Our waitress gave us time to look over everything and I didn't feel rushed. I like sushi places that don't rush you, I wanna read all the descriptions for all the rolls they offer. This place didn't have as many rolls as some places I've been to but we choose the following: Las Vegas roll, Chesapeake roll, manhattan roll, volcano roll, rainbow roll, and California roll. Everything was fresh and prepared wonderfully. We also had the side salads which I enjoyed because they include spinach with the iceberg lettuce. The miso soup was flavorful, too! One of our kids had a side of chicken fried rich, which was huge. The other had the kids boat which I include edamame, steamed rice, teriyaki chicken and a side of soup. This isn't my normal sushi spot but it's a good alternative when the other place is busy.

Great presentation, roll wasnt loose. Wasn't busy but great customer service. Will be back

Toro roll, toro. Melts in your mouth. Always go w the belly of any fish when given a choice (and you can afford it ).

I like that it's spaced out and you're not over crowded. Our waitress Catherine was awesome. She's always nice, friendly, and patient. She gave us the menu specials and allowed us to chat a bit before ordering. My friend ordered the cheese wontons, general tso chicken and dan dan noodles. The wontons were really good. I like that they were sweet and crispy. I'd get them again for sure. The dan dan noodles were spicy and flavorful. My sister and I got the Mongolian chicken, storm fish, and eggplant. This is my go to meal that I normally get, it's always tasty. The storm fish normally comes with a spicy mayo sauce, but they didn't have it this time. The fish was still ok, but the sauce is what gives it flavor, so it was a little bland this time. The eggplant and Mongolian chicken were yum, hot, and fresh!! I definitely recommend this restaurant to alot of people. I just think it's more elevated compared to regular Chinese takeout food. They have many delicious options on the menu, and again the vibe is chill. If you're planning a group dinner this is definitely a great option. The rooms have a lazy Susan on the table to make sharing the family style meals easy. Check them out!!

I found maybe 4 at most. It was also disappointing most of the sauce was on the bottom. So it's imperative you stir everything from bottom up upon receiving the order. The top layer tasted like it had barely any seasonings because of it. I wish I had known the meal came with copious amounts of mushrooms. I otherwise would have specifically requested the order be made without the them. I am not a big fan of mushrooms and especially the fragrant kind like the shiitake variety. I feel like I had mouthfuls of mushrooms in each bite and that's all I tasted. Perhaps I will order something else they are more known for the next time I believe they specialize in Szechuan cuisine.

When arrived looks pretty much like former restaurant less decorations. Two groups seated about eleven persons. Bar was empty. Slowly filled two more tables and three or four at the bar. About 20 persons in total. Most of the visit, only single waitress serving tables and bar as long with busing tables. Kitchen is semi open. Only one person could be send in kitchen. Two persons only seemed understaffed for near full menu service and bar. No bus person, kitchen help, runner, or dish washer seen. Menu Asian fusion for lack of better term. Ordered scallion pancakes and spicy spring rolls. Service slow.... After ordering. Pancakes are one of my favorite snacks. Order portion size was large for appetizer. Scallion pancakes should be chewy with a flakey crust, savory with an onion punch from the scallions. These were chewy with no flakiness at all. Sort of like a flour tortilla with onion in the mix. The dip was like extra salty soy sauce spiked with raw ginger, strong and almost inedible. Then about five minutes later spring rolls arrived. Piping hot then down hill. First impression,, over cooked and greasy. Did not appear to have been drained. two small puddles of oil in dish below rolls. Sort of cross between lumpia and cha gio with appeal of neither. Noodles and meat wrapped together and fried. Favors muddled and greasy. Dipping sauce not much either. As a person who has sat through many food handlers permit classes. I witnessed a no-no with the waitress. Concerning.... It appears that disjointed service front to back needs improvement. Like location and ideas but without consistent execution it will likely fail in long run. Will be back?? Not likely Never say never. If still open this time next year?? Plus next block up there is very good ramen/Filipino/Vet place.

Made the payment and headed into the store for pickup some 10 minutes later. Things turned really sideways from there with added 20+ minutes to resolve the issue. The cashier claimed the Bundle is just a regular poke bowl with a drink for $23. It comes in a regular sized poke bowl and not family size or anything like that. There's no mention of this or about the drink. So we requested we cancel the order and we place an order for 2 poke bowls with 2 proteins. He said no. No order can be canceled for refund. Just grab a drink from the fridge or buy a separate poke bowl and get $5 off if we spend $35. First of all, the cost of buying a 2 protein poke bowl and a drink is less than $23. It's not on the website that the Family Bundle is not a family sized entree with a drink. The man kept arguing until the manager trotted in. She attempted making things right by refunding and voiding the original order and allowed us to order two Poke Bowls w/ 2 proteins. I still didn't appreciate being accused of not wanting the issues to be resolved and that she's just trying to help by giving us a $5 refund. Um..... I'm not the one who came up with this problem. I don't care who the website administrators or UI / UX engineers are. I'm the customer. I thought I can just go in, pick up the order, and eat. The poke bowl itself had meager amounts of fish, too much ginger and seaweed salad, and not much rice. The fish tasted sour and overcooked. The man did a poor job packaging the sauces and the manager had to step in again to assist. The lack of proper utensils or napkins included added to its poor experience. I may try Domoishi again in the future but not anytime soon. I sure don't plan to return to the Hilltop location again.
