I met a friend for breakfast and we had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated, because they are a busy place. The server was quick to get to us and very polite. It seemed to take longer than I thought it would for the food to come out. The food is good and I would go back, but I'd try to pick a time when they were not so busy, if there is a time when they aren't. read more

First visit for us. We ordered Corned Beef & Eggs and the Wolverine Benedict along with a Yosemite Sam Bloody Mary. The food was fresh, hot and delicious. LOTS of choices and large portions! I would appreciate being able to place a 1/2 order for the Benedict. The Bloody Mary was good as long as you made sure to get some of the smoked chile salt from the rim with each sip. The Bloody Mary itself didn't have much flavor without the rim seasoning. The service was fast, friendly and efficient. The atmosphere isn't great. Tables & chairs have seen better days. Busy & quite noisy. They do have some outside seating which is quieter (and allows dogs!) But there were no open seats in the shade when we were there. read more

This hole-in-the-wall was such a surprise! I had bookmarked Baja Cafe on Yelp before arriving in Tucson. I didn't realize it would be a pretty nondescript establishment, tucked away in a strip mall. I actually said "This is it?" when we pulled up. But this experience further proves to me how important it is to seek out small, family-owned businesses at home and when traveling. Our server Lynica was fabulous, telling us more about the restaurant and providing great menu recommendations. The menu is large and they specialize in eggs benedict with some unique variations. Come hungry, because portions are large! I ordered the huevos rancheros with pulled chicken and they were yummy, but the real winner was the surprise snickerdoodle pancake you get on your first visit. OMG. I'm not usually a pancake / sweet breakfast person but this was AMAZING. It was a clean plate by the end of the meal ;) If you're not from the area, I would highly recommend ordering a prickly pear mimosa. My friends and I needed some breakfast/lunch after a morning hike and Baja stood out when searching for a place to visit. When we arrived, there were a couple people waiting so we were placed on a 20 minute wait (which is not horrible at all). They had some simple seating outside while you waited and a heater thankfully. Once we were seated, we ordered mimosas and bloody Mary's. The mimosa was okay but my friends loved the bloody Mary's. The toppings looked delicious! The bacon that was included in the topping was made as soon as it was ordered so it was warm and smelled great. Our waitress was extremely kind and gave great suggestions. She was quick and attentive. I ordered a build your own omelette and it was STUFFED. You are allowed 3 items and anything additional was $2-$3 which was shocking but after seeing my omelette, it made sense. The omelette came with hash browns and your choice of bread. The amount of food you receive is worth how much you spend. The dining area was busy and pretty clean. They were quick to clean off tables and get another party sat. The restrooms were a little gross but that's not going to ruin everything! Everyone was friendly and helpful. Would recommend coming here if you're looking for a classic breakfast place. read more

I was alone so I was seated immediately, however, there will be a line. I had the fresh squeezed Orange Juice but they have awesome cocktail and coffee selections. 10/10. Then I was faced with the ALL STAR LINE UP of the Benny's, I chose the Mesquite and was not disappointed. One of the best huevos rancheros I've had! Snickerdoodle pancake is also amazing but very large and rich, so definitely something worth splitting with the table. Amazing! I have a shop right next door so I have the opportunity to eat here very often. All the food I have ordered has been unbelievably good and I have ordered at least 12 different items from the menu. The owner, Gerard, is one of the nicest people I have met and makes all the recipes himself. Never once have I had something that wasn't completely over the to good, and creative? Wow! I have to say that this was the best breakfast on a 9-day road trip from CA to Texas and back hands down. We went to the original Baja Cafe yesterday morning for breakfast, an unprepossessing little hole in the wall cafe, and from the friendly staff to the outstanding breakfast, we couldn't be happier. The food was outstanding! Who knew over easy eggs and hash browns could be fried to perfection?! To top it off, this morning I just finished off the other half of the snickerdoodle pancake the Baja Cafe offers on the house to newcomers! For three years I lived north of Sacramento and I did not think I would have breakfast as good as I experienced in NorCal. Baja Cafe on Broadway is pretty close and was well worth the 40-minute wait in the light rain. The servers are really friendly and the kitchen workers were hustling to put out great tasting food. One will quickly observe that the staff takes pride in their job. I had the Ricky Bobby special. I enjoy dishes when no two bites of food taste the same. Everything was so flavorful. My son thought Baja Cafe served the best pancakes (Cinnamon Roll) he ever ate. As we are a retired military family who moved every two to three years, this is a big claim for him as he ate a lot of pancakes in a lot of places. Came here on a Sunday morning to get some good food. My SO ordered a liege waffle and I ordered their special benedict. The benedict comes with a chicken breast stuffed with cheese and chorizo, two poached eggs with a red chili sauce, on top of 2 blue corn pancakes, and some sauteed spinach and fried onions, along with a side of hashbrowns and some andouille sausages. The waffle is crispy and fantastic with whipped cream and syrup. The benedict is amazing!!! The eggs are perfectly poached and sits on top of delicious sweet pancakes. The chicken breast is not bad and stuffed with some tasty chorizo. I would eat this again! It's a flavor explosion although slightly salty with the sausage and chorizo and cheese. Very deceiving from what reviews on line and actually going there. First the prices in the menus must have not been updated for 5 years not one price was correct when we compared them. Looking at others peoples entrees and seeing the small portions and the higher prices was deceiving right there. We viewed the menu watching other orders come out and decided to leave too much money for such small small portions. My all-time favorite breakfast restaurant I have ever been to. The service is amazing and I especially love Anthony anytime I go as he is amazing, cares, and is super funny. The food is amazing and has won many awards for its eggs benedict. As a college student, my family will sometimes come down to visit and no matter how long they are staying they will always go to Baja and get the famous eggs benedict. They have specials on their Instagram along with pictures so you can make sure you would be interested. Everything is a great price for how much food you are going to get. The burritos are at least a foot and the pancakes are humongous. It is a must-go. read more

The concoction of elements, components and flavors was otherworldly. Upon the very first bite, it was like a Flavor Bomb went off in my mouth - an explosion of multiple flavors that detonated on my taste buds. It was absolutely insane in the best way you could ever imagine. Grilled hominy cakes over a black bean sauce with poached eggs and Southwest pulled smoked short ribs (which later we discovered that the cooking process takes over 21 hours). Say what?! But wait, there's more. Throw in some elote! Can't stop there - how about some avocado hollandaise, salsa verde cruda, pico de gallo and cotija! Garnished with some crisp corn tortilla chips!
