I find myself frustrated because witnessing a situation where someone blatantly utilizes a term that is offensive and receives zero accountability for it is telling. There's zero reason why a customer who is racially ambiguous is casually using a racial slur just because the workers are "used" to him using it. A Black man was reactive and, per usual, he was looked upon as the antagonist in the situation. By a Black woman at that. Why? Because he faithfully buys your bagels (of all things)? I had to repost this. Excellently crafted food at the BAGELSMITH. Their staff is top notch. Mucho Gracias for the care they take in preparing my food, always with a smile. Feel bad though, I think many of the customers seem to not treat them with respect. People make mistakes, it's what makes us human. Not to mention, it's not the end of the world if something was forgotten. Just let them know and they're happy to correct it. If zero stars were an option, that would be my rating. The bagels themselves are ok, but the spreads, both the dairy and soy, tasted way, way off, as if spoiled. My main complaint is with the staff: several times I was in there I was horrified by some of their behavior toward women customers. One fellow who seemed to be the manager was making comments about women who had just left that were so offensive and crude that I won't repeat them here. I can't say enough about this place! They have amazing fresh bagels (the everything is my fave), fresh rolls and a variety of options to choose from. Whether I want cream cheese, tofu, eggs, cold cuts or a chicken sandwich they have it all. I love the variety and consistency. I'm always greeted with a smile and service is usually pretty quick. I LOVE their coffee too! They also have an assortment of muffins, danishes and cookies that are absolutely AMAZING! This is definitely my go to place in the neighborhood! read more

Hello I just recently visited a friend and woke up early. I went down to bagelsmith although the I was starving i couldnt eat employee was smoking out front and then proceeded to go behind counter and make my food without washing hands. only 1 person was wearing gloves and a hat. I found the store to be not well kept. with loud rap music and a cashier who smelled like booze. I guess thats what goes on during a late night shift I would strongly reccomend not eating here !!!! I wish I had the option of no stars. The people who seem to be in charge here, as well as some of the staff, are racist,sexist, and homophobic. I have been in here three times and will never come back. On two occasions i overheard horrible comments about an overweight woman, a homosexual, and an African American woman. Well I am in the food industry and I have to say WOW!!!!! I would be very concerned with health issues. First slicer was filthy, I observed a worker sneeze in his hand and then proceed to make food with no glove. This place is amazing. Bacon scallion cream cheese, with avocado, on a toasted everything bagel. I've tried a lot of bagels going to college in the city and this was by far the best. Be careful if you order delivery online, it doesn't come from the Bedford ave store, I think it comes from the one on Lorimer, and they almost always forget to toast it. read more

Bagelsmith is one of the things I miss most about home. Though Bedford can be a bit obnoxious, this place is an absolute gem. Send an egg and cheese bagel with tomato and avocado my way! IMO, bagels are either horrible or great. This place falls into the latter category. The sandwiches are also great (so much better then the generic Subway down the street)..Chicken Salad on an everything bagel--my fav. Great coffee and nice selections of juices. Bagels here are definitely the best in the area. It has a solid selection with some great flavored cream cheeses. Staff is generally pretty helpful and friendly. My only issue, is that its too small. Gets very crowed. read more
