Having just moved to the area from New York, I was super excited to see that a new bagel shop was opening up around the corner from my apartment. I had heard great things about Bagelsaurus from the days they were were operating out of Cutty's, so I couldn't wait to try their bagels. I visited around 11 AM on a Friday and the line wasn't so bad. As others have noted, it took awhile for them to prepare my bagel (toasted everything with cream cheese and cucumber) despite the fact that the place wasn't all that busy. I'll chalk that up to growing pains during their first week or so of business. The bagel itself was solid. Soft and chewy on the inside, but a bit too hard on the outside for my taste. They did put just the right amount of cream cheese on the bagel which I appreciated. Too often I find myself scraping off large amounts of cream cheese from my bagel because a big hunk of it was just plopped on top and not even spread around. My biggest gripe with Bagelsaurus, and what prompted me to write this review, is that this is quite simply the most expensive bagel I have ever had in my life. I have literally been to dozens of bagel shops across NYC, NJ, and Long Island, and I have never seen a more expensive bagel. Particularly given how small the bagels are, $2.50 for a bagel with no toppings is just unacceptable. My favorite bagels in the world are bigger and sell for $1 at a place that pays Manhattan rents. The premium that Bagelsaurus charges for their bagels (over twice as much as most bagels I am familiar with!) simply isn't worth it. read more

I love bagelsaurus. I love bagels, which is a big part of that. These guys have amazing flavors of both bagels and cream cheese. Tips - be ready for a line, and specify if you want a toasted bagel. Weirdly their default setting is not toasted. read more

Delicious bagels and some of the best in Boston. The lines are very long on the weekends but it does move quickly. The seating is limited so it may be hard to eat inside when busy. Overall, absolutely worth it. The eggspanola and classic jumbo are especially great. read more

Checking another one off the Cambridge bucket list, I was sadly ready for the long line--even in winter-- at 9:30 AM on a Saturday morning. However, people come for a reason, and the crowd makes great people watching. Definitely a testament to this shop that it can bring together a friendly 5-year-old who is in love with his lox bagel, a group of college students nursing their hangovers, people treating themselves after a long run, and another table heading out to a protest! The bagels are tasty and have plenty of toppings on them, whether you get cream cheese or filling. For an egg/feta/avocado lover, I actually preferred the plain bagel to the eggspañola...it was so much easier to eat and let the flavors really shine through. If I came back again, I would custom make the sandwich (ie: just egg + avocado) or get a grab bag of bagels to go with cream cheese. Either way, if you are a bagel lover and want an inexpensive treat, stop by! It lacks the amazing fluffiness that are New York bagels, but this is the closest Boston is probably going to get. read more

Their food is tasty. Their prices are high. Their organization and delivery is heinous. Everybody wants to love it but they make it so hard, perhaps its not for everyone. I think Bagelsaurus has proven that there is a real demand and certified market for proper bagels. If you have the know how, will, capital, and people behind the counter who know how to hustle, you too can be the next Bagel 3.0 spot in Boston/Cambridge. read more

Everything about this place is awesome. Food and staff. Okay maybe the line can get a little intense... They must have an absurd number of people come through, and they still bother to learn your name! Recommendations include their "basic" breakfast sandwich with mustard butter, and their salmon option, and the chicken salad... And the t-Rex... Okay, I guess you really can't go wrong is what I'm saying! read more

Nice folks behind the counter. Outstanding bagels. Have been twice now and the Eggspanola on a black olive bagel has been my pick both visits. A really nice stop on a weekend morning or a day off. read more

Got up at 8am on a Sunday trying to make my way from Brighton to Cambridge taking the public transportation when it was 20F out just to try Bagelsaurus and was it worth the trip, questionable... Line was all the way to the door but moving pretty quickly when I got there a little bit before 10am. Obviously all the tables were occupied. Cashier was welcoming and smiley. Food was ready shortly as well. Got 2 items and paid about $12 - egg sandwich with bacon on a cinnamon raisin bagel - pretzel bagel with honey rosemary spread I took a bite at the pretzel bagel, very chewy but I thought it was just the pretzel effect but I soon realized that the cinnamon raisin bagel was just equally chewy. These bagels are definitely not for people with weak teeth or jaw and I just had a tooth surgery 2 days ago! I really thought my temporary crown was going to pop out. The honey rosemary spread was delicious though so were the egg and bacon, however I believe the egg may have been cooked in butter, the egg sandwich was extremely oily (oil dripping all over the sandwich). It was tasty but at the same time pretty damaging to the body. It was an experience but I don't think I can get myself addicted to their bagels. Unless you like chewy style bagels, Brueggers bagels are more suited for those who enjoy fluffy and soft style ones. I will go there again to buy cream cheese though. read more

Definitely a must-visit place in Cambridge. My first time I got a T-Rex with a cinnamon rasin bagel and it was really good. But also really messy. The second time I went I got a plain bagel with the honey rosemary cream cheese. The bagle was really chewy and the rosemary cream cheese was pretty good, but like frosting. I could only handle so much. There was a line out the door, and I don't think it was worth waiting in line, but if there isn't a wait, it's worth getting a bagel. read more

best bagels I've ever hard. My husband & I were in Cambridge to run a 5k on a cold sunday morning in December and we went to Bagelsaurus after the race to pick up a post race treat. He got a sea salt bagel with plain cream cheese and I got a sea salt bagel with honey rosemary cream cheese. My combo was to DIE for! So delicious I did not want it to end. You cannot compare a bagel like this to Brueggers or Dunkin Donuts, so there's no point in addressing why they are more expensive than places like this. The line moved along at a good pace, and as soon as we were biting into our chewy bagels from heaven I forgot all about the crowds. Well worth it! read more

Pretty tasty bagels with an interesting assortment of spreads including mustard butter and beet hummus. A little expensive for bagels and breakfast sandwiches but the food is pretty good and the atmosphere is cute and hip. read more

I got the eggspanñola and it was the best bagel sandwich I've ever had. No line when we went, but have heard it can be a long wait.

Hands down the greatest single bagel experience south of Montreal. I have eaten literally every bagel type and sandwich and have never had a bad experience. If you have to go on a Saturday/Sunday then avoid the long lines by going around 1pm, sometimes they will sell out, but most often you can still grab a phenomenal bagel without a 30 minute wait. read more

Oh my goodness. We loved this place. Line out the door, and totally worth it. We got the trex sandwich- bananas, almond butter and bacon. Would totally return again. Who cares if we couldn't get a table and had to eat outside on the curb! read more

Bagels are ok here. Line and seating is ridiculous. Very small place with line out the door both times we have been here. There are 5-6 tables and with the volume of customers I personally always feel stressed out that we may have no place to sit and eat. As a new person to Boston we are not used to being in such tight quarters. Have gone to Bagel World the last couple of bagel runs. Much more seating but still ridiculous line. read more

I could see myself becoming a regular here. Homemade bagels? Check. Lots of combinations to try? Check? Adorable logo? CHECK. All ages of folks come here, and it's easy to see why. I get the feeling that you can't go wrong, whatever you decide to try. read more

Sourdough bagels. Honey Rosemary cream cheese. They close at 3. Don't miss this place. I literally moved to Somerville so that I could eat these bagels on a consistent basis. And I have a friend who's dating this girl because she lives near by. #srsly read more

We stopped in one morning when visiting family in Boston for yummy bagels. I like that you can order and customize whatever you desire! At the time I had been on a huge smoked salmon and fresh dill kick, so I of course order that on a plain bagel with plain cream cheese. I personally wasn't a fan of their smoked salmon, so because of it, I then wasn't a huge fan of my entire bagel. I ate about 3/4 of it, and gave up on it. The bagel itself was phenomenal. Definitely one of the best bagels I've had in Boston, for sure!! I'd love to go back and try something else next time we visit. read more

My go to breakfast spot every time I'm in Boston. These are really unique, fresh, doughy bagels paired with interesting combinations of toppings. The kind of place that makes a ton of bagels fresh every morning and when they are out, that's the end of the day. So get there early before they run out! read more

Best bagels in the Boston area and they have the line to prove it. Get there early and enjoy! Their everything bagels are a dream. Very chewy and amazing flavor. read more

Waited in line for 35 minutes on a Saturday morning at 10am. I ordered a plain bagel with scallion cream cheese, tomato, cucumber, and avocado. I also ordered the eggspanola on black olive. Both were super tasty, but that scallion cream cheese hit the spot. I wish I could eat here every day. read more

Bagelsaurus is the place I've been dreaming of since moving to Boston from New York. Until now, NOTHING in or outside the city has even come close to NY bagels. This place has the best, chewy, fresh delicious bagels in Massachusetts (I've tried oh so many disappointing spots) and they have inventive flavors too! Try the honey rosemary cream cheese on a seeded wheat bagel or scallion cream cheese on a salt bagel. I often wish I lived closer, but then again, that would be dangerous. To die for! read more

Bagelsaurus is the new best bagel place in Boston! it opens at 7am and closes at 3pm unless they sell out a bit earlier, which has been happening virtually everyday that I have checked. Bagelsaurus is superior in quality to Brueggers and Finagle Bagel and I certainly hope to go there often in the future. I highly recommend the breakfast sandwiches and the smoked salmon sandwich. Admittedly, it is quite expensive and is 25$ for a dozen bagels but the quality is extraordinary and worth every bit of the price. It would recommend going early in the morning because in the afternoon there can be a long line and the service sometimes is slow. Just know that everything on the menu is excellent and it is difficult to go wrong with whatever you order. read more

The long lines and wait times at this place make it simply not worth it. They have so many people working there that it makes no sense to me how they can take so long to give you a bagel sandwich. I have been there twice and both times I had their specialty chicken salad. It was very tasty and my gf loves their bagel with almond butter and bacon (I think it is called the rex). The staff is not very nice at all and it is extremely unhelpful. The first time I went there I saw how one of the ladies behind the counter gave a woman a bag with my name (Walker). It really made no sense, so I thought I had made a mistake. I waited and they were not calling my name so I approached another lady and asked her if by any chance they had called my name or if my order was soon to come out. She didn't even look at me, said "I don't know", turned around and left me standing there. The second person I asked for help looked into it and realized that they had given my order to somebody else. So they had to make my whole order again, and as you might have noticed by everybody's post, they take forever. So I was there for longer than I would have wanted to. In addition to that the sitting arrangement is very tight, this is mostly a place for takeout, but it is really awkward cause there is no real place to stand while waiting and the people from the line for their one and only register keep on bumping against the people waiting for their food. As I said, it is really awkward. Finally, they advertise that they sell fresh orange juice... I bought it... and the guy from the register just turned around and grabbed a pre-bottled juice from the the fridge. I don't know what their idea of fresh orange juice is, but that is certainly not mine. In conclusion, it is a real shame because the concept is great, I think that the food is tasty and they have plenty of employees to run the place efficiently and give the costumer a nice experience. PS: Their BagelSaurus logo is extremely cute, if they sold t-shirts my size I don't know if I would have been able to stop myself for buying one. That logo is definitely the best thing about that place. read more

Holy mole!! Bagel with cream cheese and a large coffee: $7.25. That's outrageous. I cannot believe that a place can charge that with a straight face. The food is good, but not that good. read more

Ok, the bagels here are very good on their own. Probably worth sticking to that. (Still, guys, there is absolutely no reason for a bagel place to have this much hype. It's a freaking bagel. Admittedly, a bagel with a wicked cute logo. But still.) Otherwise...DO NOT ORDER the "hot smoked salmon" bagel if you love bagels with lox: the salmon, as someone else said, has a very mild "straight from the tin can" taste. Overwhelmingly, the main flavor in this sandwich is dill. Which is fine, if you're into that kind of thing, but I'm not sure I'd pay $11.00 for a dill sandwich, no matter how hipster the bagel. read more

This place is awesome and delicious. I usually get everything to go, but they do have a small eating area! If you can't find seating, there's plenty of outdoor benches on the street. I always get the classic jumbo on cinnamon raisin bagel and it's ALWAYS amazing. If I have the day off this is definitely the place I want to go to. And the staff is great. Very attentive, kind and welcoming! read more

My favorite bagel of all time. If you are looking for a delicious bagel in Boston, this is your place. I came here twice during my trip...that's how good it was. I came with friends and was able to try the salt bagel (heavenly), the black olive bagel (so flavorful...but must love olives), and a plain bagel with egg and cheese. You're not going to be disappointed by any of the bagels here. Oh and if you like a flavored cream cheese...the honey rosemary is my absolute favorite! Definitely should check this place out! read more

Their bagel are awesome, but the staff is snide. I got there a bit early and was waiting outside. They opened the door to let a co-worker in. At 0700 ( My phone said so..) I walked in and this guy said leave it is not 0700. I said my phone said it is. Then i got the same treatment by a few of the other staff. I was just standing there waiting patiently until they were ready to serve me. i was not in the way or anything and it was chilly outside. So I gather you have to be a snooty person to work there. I like their bagels, but not their attitude. Brueggers is up the street and I like their bagels also and the staff is so very pleasant. read more

I like bagels, but dang... I had no idea people dreamt of them. I mean who hasn't heard of the famous New York and Philadelphia bagels, but so what. A bagels a bagel right? Boy was I in for a surprise because according to bagel lovers, Bagelsaurus located near Porter Square in Cambridge has given the Boston area that glimmer of hope to contend with NYC and Philly... Why else would the line stretch almost around the block outside the establishment. That's right, a LINE for bagels. "I come here everyday" said a regular patron and some NYC transplants admitted that they finally found a "worthy" bagel to travel for. So we stood in line and tried them for ourselves and I must say, they were pretty good. There were a variety of bagels to choose from along with various spreads, but since it was my first visit, I opted for the cinnamon raisin with plain cream cheese. Call me boring, but if an establishment can't get this right than it's time to say, "bye bye." Fortunately, the bagel was pretty good. It was fluffy, crispy and chewy and there was the right amount of cinnamon and raisins that made it just right... ala Goldilock's way. My friends in tow got the sea salt bagel with honey rosemary cream cheese and found the honey rosemary to be De-Li-Cious! The other got the Eggspanola sandwich (over-medium egg with feta, aioli, parsley-scallion gremolata and added avocado and roasted tomatoes) and gave it a thumbs up. Pretty good for the first visit! My only gripe is that it's not cheap, so you won't see me here all the time, but it definitely was worth the try. Next time I go I might get the everything bagel with beet hummus.... sounds yummy! Although, the bagel craze just might not be my thing, I was curious to see what other bagel creations were out in the universe and did a search on the net. What I found were some pretty interesting and creative bagels like this. Time to expand that culinary palate! read more

Classic Jumbo with bacon on an everything bagel... So chewy. So delicious. So going back there!

Since seeing the signs for bagelsaurus a few weeks again, I have been eagerly anticipating the opening. The Porter/ Harvard are has tons of amazing food options, but had been seriously lacking in quality bagels. The sea salt bagel did not disappoint. The texture was perfect, and the salt isn't just sprinkled in top as an after thought. The veggie cream cheese had a good ratio of finely chopped veggies. The service was fairly slow, considering I was there mid morning on a work day. As other reviewers have said, it seems more like new staff who are surprised at how busy they've been, rather than general incompetence. Based on the lines I've seen, they are getting pretty overwhelmed on weekends. This place is absolutely going to be busy so they better get used to it! read more

The bagels and flavored cream cheeses are fantastic! The best I've found anywhere around. My only complaint is that the owner(s) need to figure out how to work through the line faster for those who only want unadorned bagels to go. read more

My husband and I happened to pop in on a Friday around 10 AM, so we avoided the lines. We both ordered the egg sammy, which was delicious. The cheddar was sharp and tasty. The mustard butter was an unexpected, yet delightful variation on the traditional. I opted for the everything bagel, which was one of the best I've had in Boston for sure. It was, however, a bit too chewy on the outside. The cold brew coffee was excellent as well. We also took home a few more bagels and the honey rosemary cream cheese, which is insanely delicious and creamy. The service was very friendly, but super slow and a tad bit unorganized. My main issue is the price. It's absolutely the most expensive egg sandwich I've ever ordered. With the bacon add on, it was $8! Prices on everything else were also way higher than expected and have ever seen at a bagel joint. I used to live in Brooklyn, and I will not get into NYC bagel taste comparisons, but price wise I just could not wrap my head around it. I'd go back, but I wouldn't wait in a long line. read more

These bagels are really good but also really expensive, so I feel like a chump going here more than once a month. Love the salt bagel and the whole wheat bagel, which is denser than the white flour bagels but still airy and chewy. A solid choice if you're looking for something a little more artisan than Bruegger's! read more

Attended with a few friends on a Sunday morning. The line and waiting time is annoying but worth the wait! The bagel sandwich options are amazing and extremely fresh. Will be attending again in the future! read more

This is clearly not just any old bagel shop; this is a place where the people have thought carefully about their ingredients and flavor combinations, a place where they care A LOT about making good food, a place you want to go back time and again. I always have a hard time choosing between the egg spanola and the chicken salad. I'm not even a huge chicken salad fan, but the currants and house-made pickles make this unique and absolutely delicious. Also love an olive bagel with cream cheese when I'm looking for something a little less filling. Their veggie cream cheese is better than any other I've had. We'll often pick up a grab bag too when we stop in, then cut the bagels and freeze them. They're good as new when you toast them days or even weeks later. It's not quite the same as going into the shop and getting a fresh sandwich, but it scratches the Bagelsaurus itch during the week when we can't make it over from the South End. Yes, you may wait a bit on a busy day (I wait in many other lines to get good food in Cambridge/Boston), but this place is absolutely worth it. read more

Where to start? The bagels are perfect, and handmade, and from a sourdough starter from like a billion years ago I think, and delicious, AND I live in New York. And YES: the line is long! Because people want the bagels! Sure, if you don't have the time to wait, I'd suggest not waiting in a really long line. It's a little crowded in there, but since MOST people know what they've gotten themselves into (deliciousness in exchange for a little closeness-to-your-neighbors), everybody I've ever stood next to or accidentally bumped is very friendly, and it didn't take too long to get a seat. There's been a lot of commenting on prices. First of all, relatively speaking, it's not going to break the bank to go here every so often. But yes: the bagels and their various toppings and combos are more expensive than stopping at D&D or something like that. For me personally, I prefer to NOT spend my money on those cheaper, wayyyy less delicious options in order to spend my money on something that's worth it: (the something that's worth it? You guessed it! Anything from Bagelsaurus!) But again, that's me! If it's not your thing, then yeah, don't expect something super fast to hurriedly eat and consequently not even taste on your way to the train! But if you do subscribe to "slow food" and really savoring something special, dig in. Cause Bagelsaurus is really incredible. And amazing. And did I say DELICIOUS?? Mary and her team are an incredibly sweet bunch who are dedicated to good food and the care of making things from scratch, with both creative and tradition rolled in. read more

Really good quality and love the logo. I didn't realize until after I went that this is the woman who was working out of Cutty's in Brookline. Yes for entrepreneurs! I'm psyched bc I always wanted to get over to Cutty's on the day she sold them to try them but the timing never worked out and they sold out quickly. Take people's advice and try to go at off times if possible. This is a foodie mecca:) Fun atmosphere, the staff cares imho, but not a lot of seating. Takeout might be your best best during busy times. But sharing a table with a friend or a stranger, or a friendly stranger, and listening to fascinating conversations from the people at the next table, is a fun way to spend time while you nibble on your poppy seed salmon bagel. read more
