1. Price. Wayyyyyyy over priced! Spending around $4 for a bagel is just ridiculous. Sorry. But with prices like that it makes you think how much money this place is making. #overcharging 2. Line. Get ready to wait 45min for a bagel. No thank you. 3. Food. Bagel was okay. But after spending $4 bucks and waiting over an hour...its just not worth it. read more

The good... The bacon = delicious, bagel flavors = plentiful & appropriate. Definitely did some good PR due to long AF line. The bad... So ....I get it ....cool 20 somethings serving annoying college kids.... I been there, it is what it is, get that money....but the bagels suck & = rubber. And "toasted" is some vague BS, when asked for the bagel to be toasted there is NO reply of "we don't toast"! Just tell me you aren't gonna toast it! (Oven roasted tomato = gross!)Two Bagels, classic jumbo w bacon, and the other bagel with roasted tomato (again gross), red onion & cucumber & two small coffees= $20? And running out of bagels, really? Wednesday Thursday Friday!!!!! Not worth the wait! End of rant. Peace ! read more

Not sure why there's always a line out the door. The bagels are good, but they are nothing special. Any bagel with cream cheese is $5 so it's a little expensive. The bagels are very chewy, which is good, but not what a NJ native is looking for. The pretzel bagel tasted good! They do not have egg bagels or lox spread. read more

Hands-down the best bagels I've ever had. Crunchy on the outside, chewy and moist on the inside...each bite is an individual bagel-gasm. And that's before you even put on the honey rosemary cream cheese. The quality of these bagels makes standing in line, getting out of bed on a weekend before they're sold out, and paying a pretty penny all worth it. Though I have to say when I ordered a half dozen bagels and two tubs of cream cheese, I was a little taken aback by the $23.50 price tag ($5.25 for a tub of cream cheese?!)...so I stuck with just a half-dozen and picked up some cream cheese from Star Market down the road. A stone's throw from Porter Square T station. And the death knell for Porter Square's Bruegger's? We'll have to wait and see. read more

Overall great I loved the bagels they were amazing and I really suggest the bagel sandwiches

The messiest bagel ever eaten! We visited Bagelsaurus on a Saturday morning and the line was out the door. I ordered the T-rex: I chose the wheat bagel, came with almond butter, bacon, honey, and banana. Great idea for a bagel sandwich! The bacon was cooked just right, almond butter had great flavor, and overall great combo. The bagel would've been great toasted with cream cheese as well. My husband got the plain bagel with the honey rosemary cream cheese. The cream cheese was tasty and different. I would love to go here again if I am back in the area but earlier in the morning during a weekday. The shop is very small so not a ton of room to sit down and eat. I did notice you can get a grab bag of a dozen bagels for $25 cash. A great option if you have a large party. read more

Always has a line and you're not likely to be able to eat in the tiny space, but one of the best--if not THE best--of Boston. Such pillowy bagels (never toasted) with a large variety of flavors (cheddar garlic is bomb) and delicious smears (jalapeno is my go-to, but honey rosemary is always a tempting choice). Get here early! read more

I've been wanting to try this place for months, but have always been deterred by the ridiculously long lines and wait time. I finally decided to suck it up and see what all the hype was about. The bagels themselves are delicious, but the sandwiches are not worth the price. I had the Hot Smoked on Seeded Wheat and the Sea Salt bagel with Honey Rosemary cream cheese. THE GOOD: -Bagel: one of the best I've ever had, hands down. Perfectly crusty on the outside, yet soft and chewy on the inside. -Honey Rosemary cream cheese: excellent! THE BAD: -Dill and smoked salmon on the Hot Smoked: As another poster said, there was way too much dill on this--whole stems in fact (see photo from other poster). The smoked salmon is also tasteless. If "smoked" wasn't in the name, I wouldn't have guessed it was smoked at all because I've had better smoked salmon at grocery stores (e.g., Star Market/Shaws)...I kid you not. This thing they're calling "smoked salmon" is an insult. There isn't a hint of smokiness at all, so it's misleading as described. -Quantity of cream cheese: loved the Honey Rosemary, but there was way too much of it. Blobs of it on my bagel. I had to squeeze half off and still had plenty. Of course, this could just be a matter of personal preference, but many other reviewers have said the same. -Price: $11 was way too much for the Hot Smoked. I get that these bagels are handmade and the process is time consuming, but this place is still way too overpriced. It's totally catering to the "OMG-it's Nutella/Avocado/[insert current food trend]-and-I'll-pay-whatever" crowd. You know, the ones who live to Instagram pics of their food. In sum, I would buy a bagel by itself from here again because they're delish. But, I'd ask for cream cheese or another spread on the side and I would NOT pay more than $8 for any of the sandwiches again. While I didn't find this place as mind blowing as most people seem to, I'd recommend going here at least once just for the bagels (not sandwiches) read more

I didn't know that bagels could have so much potential until I tried Bagelsaurus. Not only are they handmade, but they taste delicious. This bakery carries many different kinds/flavors of bagels that would be pretty difficult to find at other bakeries. I especially love their sea salt and poppy bagels--so yummy! Bagelsaurus also offers a variety of unique cream cheese spreads and fresh toppings, and they have pretty solid sandwiches as well. The staff are very friendly and always happy to accommodate their customers. The only down side to this place is that tables are scarce and this place can get VERY full, so keep in mind that you may have to wait a while in line before you get your breakfast/lunch! read more

I'm really sorry about the 4 star* review because: 1) There was seasoning/seed coated on both the top and bottom halves. It was--over-the-top good**. Crispy and flavorful. 2) Inside, chewy. 3) An amalgamation of the most amazing flavors and textures civilization has lead up to in a sandwich. For breakfast. Anytime. Amazing. Only thing was--there was no real lox. Only "hot lox" which is a term for cooked salmon. Which was actually perfectly cooked and moist, and kinda out of this world if I'm being honest. I guess it's good to try new things. Especially if you had no other choice. Next time, I'll get some to go and pick up some lox. *Nevermind. 5 stars. **Pun intended. read more

Sure, the bagels are pricey ($2.50 each or $4 with cream cheese) and the waits are long on weekends (I waited almost an hour and a half this past Saturday to get a single salt bagel with cream cheese), but the bagels themselves are blow-your-mind amazing! After going to Scratch Baking Co. in South Portand, ME this past summer and having the best bagel of my life (and I've tried many a good bagel in NYC, Montreal, etc.), I was excited to hear that someone in the Boston-area was modeling their bagels after Scratch's formula. These bagels did not disappoint. Unlike NYC-style bagels, which are lighter and fluffier, and Montreal-style bagels, which are smaller, denser and sweeter, Bagelsaurus makes an old world-style bagel that has an airy, chewy crumb, a thin, crunchy exterior and a slightly sour yeasty tang. Imagine the best artisan-style rolls you've ever had, put that into bagel form and you have a basic idea of what you're going to get here. In addition to the salt bagel, I took home one of their popular, old school, lye-dipped pretzel bagel. Paired with their homemade mustard butter, it was amazing (especially when the bagel was slightly warmed and the butter melted). Despite the long wait times, it was a relief to have people working here who are incredibly patient and pleasant. Sure, they could be a bit faster, but efficiency will likely come with due time. My only quibble is that I wish the bagels were a bit larger (especially for the price). Scratch's are about 30-40% larger for (I think) around the same price. Good luck guys (not that you need it)! You seem like good people who take great pride in what you do, and I fully respect that. I'll be back soon - and often! read more

Bagels are so good! Crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. I've been coming here every Thursday for the last few weeks. The honey rosemary spread is amazing! It's sweet with a hint of rosemary. The t-Rex is a must. Almond butter, bacon, and banana with honey. I'm usually not a fan of almond butter, but I loved it in this bagel sandwich! read more

Best bagels in the city. Hands down. I'm from New York- I know bagels. I think what puts the breakfast sandwich- the Classic Jumbo - over the edge is the mustard butter. I get mine with bacon. It's so good. SO good. And then when you can get it on a Cheddar Garlic bagel? PERFECTION. I also dig on the T-Rex. With bacon, of course. The perfect balance of salty and sweet. I don't drink coffee, but my coworkers rave about the cold brew. Fortunately, or unfortunately for my wallet, I work right across the street from bagelsaurus so I've never experienced the "line down the block" wait. My visits are all made during the week in the morning. All I can tell you is that it's worth whatever wait you're putting up with. It just is. read more

I got the classic jumbo with avocado on and cheddar and garlic bagel and it was good but it wasn't the best I've ever had! The bread was super hard to tear apart making everything in my sandwich sort of just fall out. I would like to go back and check out some of their other breakfast sandwiches to give it another chance. FYI - the line will be out of the building but it moves fast! Not much sitting inside, but there are a few benches outside on the street which give some nice people watching entertainment. read more

What is it about bagels that makes people go apesh*t? We love 'em - schmeared, slathered, smothered. Take a deliciously chewy cinnamon raisin and partner it up with a smokey veggie cream cheese. It shouldn't work but alas, it does! I took it upon myself to have the pumpernickel T. Rex - almond butter, bananas, bacon and a generous amount of honey. Was it the messiest thing I've eaten in recent memory? Yes. Yes it was. However, it was the tastiest thing in recent memory too. While I was mopping up gooey almond butter from my chin and looking like an absolute monster, I was in hog heaven. He had the jumbo on a plain bagel - mustard butter = genius. Their coffee was robust and delicious, no extra charge for soy milk! I will say that on Saturdays and Sundays from 8am - 10am, they offer a "grab bag" line on the left side of the counter. If you just want a bunch of bagels and cream cheese, no sandwiches, you can skip the line for express service. Don't be a jerk and go over there for just one or two bagels. Don't be that guy. read more

Amazing bagels and bagel sandwiches for both the sweet and savory pallet. Ordering is a little more complicated since Covid, but it's easy to order ahead the night before at the end of the week if I know I'll have a hankering Saturday morning. read more

These bagels are divine. Crusty like a baguette almost on the outside and soft on the inside. Got a plain one for breakfast, then it was so good I ordered a wheat bagel with scallion cream cheese, cucumbers, and tomatoes...The tomatoes were similar to sundried tomatoes but seemed much juicier? They were AMAZING. I didn't eat for hours afterward I was so sated. Also, they have good coffee and have oat milk as creamer option...which is really cool. (Oat milk is the most sustainable milk drink, environmentally wise.) read more

These are fantastic bagels. They have a good crunch on the outside but are soft and chewy on the inside. But they are not difficult to eat. I find that sometimes bagels can be too dense, but these are well balanced. I also ordered an iced tea which was top notch. And the staff was very pleasant. The only thing that could make this place better is if they had a rotating special bagel Flavor daily, weekly or monthly. read more

Hipsters should not be in the service industry. Because of the hype I waited in line for 35 minutes to get my bagel. It's a fine bagel, it's not the best, not the right consistency. It is a good bagel relative to other bagels that are sold nearby, but it does not really stand on it's own. The service is painfully slow and the coffee is mild. read more

This was by far the BEST bagel I have had in my life. It literally MADE my life. I drove 40 min (in traffic) out of my way to get here and I'm so glad I did. Solid effing bagels. Go get in line now and have yourself one. Why? because bagels. Now before we get to far, I don't think these are as good as NYC bagels. In fact, I don't think they come close. But this is just one man's opinion, now back to the facts. I'll start with the cons: Fact: They are chewy and not that crunchy Fact: You will wait in line for one Fact: You will pay more than you think is fair for a bagel (but you won't complain because you will still love it) Fact: The creamcheese will get on your hands and you will curse your upbringing as the reason you didn't get enough napkins. And now the pros: Fact: You will try the honey rosemary creamcheese and you will cry one tear as you have found the meaning of true love Fact: You will love all the types of flavor and the solid cold brew Fact: You will marvel that such a great bagel exists in Boston, home of an inferior bagel You decide if its worth it. I just provide you with the facts read more

We went at noon on Thursday and the wait wasn't long at all. The small line that was there moved quickly and efficiently. We ordered a cinnamon raisin, onion, pumpernickel, and a plain bagel with scallion cream cheese and their honey rosemary cream cheese along with two cold brew coffees. Their cold brews were great, both with cream and sugar and just black. (Disclaimer: I prefer coffee black though). The bagels were a little bit chewy but I'd imagine they would be less so if they came right out of the oven. The cream cheeses were truly the stars of the show though with the honey rosemary being sweet but no overpowering and the scallion cream cheese giving off a slight onion taste that worked well with all bagels but the pumpernickel. It's a little pricier here than other bakeries and as everyone else has mentioned, Dunkins and Bruggers. This is expected though as their quality is much higher and even their customer service is better and faster, so all in all well worth the price. If you want to grab a tasty bagel and some good coffee, definitely come here, but if you're okay with dunkin donuts and wouldn't like spending a little extra, you can probably just pass. read more

As a Jersey girl, I know bagels. And this is a damn good bagel. I mean, there's a reason there's a line out the door every time you come! Their rosemary honey cream cheese is crack good and their bagels are super fresh. My only complaint is their smoked salmon is not what I'm used to, it's kind of chunky and I'm more of the clean and think slices kind of person. Also they're a tad pricey, even for a bagel. Regardless, if you're in the area you have to go at least once! read more

So good. So so so good. I have had many bagels in my day and was so sad about the lack of bagel scene when I moved to Boston. My boyfriend found this place and we went this morning, and my life in Boston is forever changed for the better. The bagels were some of the best I've ever eaten. We split the poppy seed with the honey rosemary cream cheese and the classic jumbo (with bacon, of course) on an everything bagel. We loved them so much that we got olive bagels and some scallion cream cheese to go for the next morning. The place is very small, with about 4-5 small tables (for 2 people each). We went at 8:30 AM on a Saturday morning and the line was already out the door, but they moved quick. We will be back soon! read more

Very unique menu. Bagels are pretty great and big! Long lines at time and do sell out quick.

I shit you not, the best bagels I've ever had. No, I haven't lived in New York, but I fuck with bagels and this shit slaps.

I don't like bagels. Or that many bread products, for that matter. I'm a pasta/noodle fiend. So, find me a bagel that I dream about the next day... then you've earned your 5 stars, no doubt. I will undoubtedly wait again for the: - soft, chewy dough with a thin skin that resists your bite but is still soft enough to keep the fillings on the inside - black olive bagels, lending the right amount of salt (drool-face) - breakfast sandwich (medium yolk... I totally spied on everyone else's sandwich while I waited and baby waved at unsuspecting onlookers) Not too many bagel flavors which probably helps keep the bagel flavors on point (and the pits out of the black olive bagels. speaking of pits, which they warn you of the possibility of them, I didn't have any. and while at first I was a bit perturbed by the warning and almost didn't get it, of course i got the olive one! i love olives...!! and as i ate it, I realized that what the warning advises you of is how fresh the olives are when they make the bagels! or something. OMG, I want a bakers dozen of JUST black olive bagels.. maybe if I was pregnant then dave would go get them for me tomorrow.. blarggg yumm nom nom nom) Anywho, my only complaint is that they aren't open on MONDAY. read more

I'm no New Yorker, but I like good bagels. Bagelsaurus, besides having a cute name, has great bagels within walking distance of my apartment. I've walked by several times and seen the line stretch down Mass Ave. Luckily during my visit, the line was limited to the inside, but all tables were full. I purchased two bagels - sesame and everything - and brought them home to slice, toast, and put on my own cream cheese, so my transaction was quick. The bagel was delicious, with a sourdough base, and had a great amount of air and chew. Overall, I appreciate finally having a decent bagel place in the area to satisfy my bagel cravings. Definitely check it out, give it a try, but it is on the pricey side - especially when you start adding spreads. I would not wait in the "preposterous" line outside. As a final note, their coffee is great - self-serve. read more

I'd give this place 6 stars if I could - the bagels are that good. Yes, there will probably be a line on the weekends, but I'm willing to cut the shop owners a break for the first few weeks/months while they work out the kinks. Stopped by last Friday for a late morning snack and picked up an everything bagel with veggie cream cheese. Truly awesome - chewy bagel with a nice sourdough hint topped with a generous amount of deliciously smooth cream cheese. Great cup of coffee as well. Came by with a few friends on Saturday to try some of the sandwiches. The 4 of us split a menu sampler of sorts - TRex, egg sandwich, salmon sandwich, and a plain bagel with honey rosemary cream cheese (+ a piece of coffee cake). We couldn't find a flaw. Finally a great bagel spot in Boston. Worth the trip, and worth the wait - I'll be back on the weekends for sure. read more

On a snowy friday, I decided to finally make the pilgrimage to the famed Bagelsaurus. I'm sure you've heard the murmurs on the buses- the hyped reviews- the instagram pics- I'm here to confirm it all. They're all true- this bagel place is a sweet fantasy sitting in Porter Square just waiting for you to walk in. 1. I ordered an egg sandwich on cheddar garlic- comes with egg (perfectly done), sharp cheddar, and mustard butter. Yes, mustard butter. (I don't care if you don't like mustard- this is different.) I added avocado and red onion. I'm just short of weeping as I think of the beautiful creation that I devoured. The execution flawless and the staff who made it for me were so sweet. 2. Tea- Tea lovers rejoice. This place uses full leafed bags. Better than most cafes in the area. There's nothing I hate more than paying for bad tea. I tip my hat as I sip a beautiful full bodied black tea with cream and sugar. 3. The bagel itself- now I've seen the reviews- these aren't new york bagels. I'm from Long Island ( see Nick from New Girl to better understand my culture) and I will eat no other bagel outside of the new york metro area. I will say that again- THIS IS THE ONLY BAGEL I WILL EAT OUTSIDE NYC/Long Island. Everything else is poorly imitating the New York Bagel. This - is a whole different beast worthy in its own right. Stop the comparisons. They cost more. That's because these are rare lovely things and this is an independent business. 3. Before I took my first bite of my bagel, The Talking Heads's "Naive Melody (I guess this must be the place)" played softly in the background as the snow gently fell. As a new york ex- pat living in Cambridge- nothing has yet felt so right. Fuck the haters. This place is worth it. read more
