I'm in Cambridge for the semester and Bagelsaurus has quickly become my go-to weekend breakfast spot. Pros: The bagels really are amazing--the best I have had in a long time. They have a great offering of different flavors, cream cheeses and sandwich options. I haven't tried anything I didn't like, the service is friendly, and it's in a convenient location. I also really like that bagelsaurus sticks to what they do well--bagels. They don't try to throw in extra menu items or gimmicks, just good quality bagels. Cons: There is always a line out the door on the weekends and seating is very limited. The staff is very efficient but you should still be prepared to wait (on average I probably wait about 20 minutes if go mid morning on a Saturday or Sunday). I also always take my food to go because it seems like too much of a hassle to try to wait for one of their five tables. In addition bagel flavors tend to sell out, especially if you drop in after noon. Botton line: Best bagels in the area, worth the wait. I've been coming here off and on for several years. I've never lived close by, otherwise, I would definitely be here all the time! Bagelsaurus is hands-down the closest I've come in New England to a New York bagel. I lived in NYC for 10 years, so I know of what I speak! While other bagel places are "good" or "fine", Bagelsaurus bagels have that perfect blend of chewy-crunchy-soft that everyone needs. I've done the cinnamon raisin with plain cream cheese, the breakfast sandwich with egg and the cold salmon, plain cream cheese, capers, dill extravaganza (my favorite...). Always filling, always delicious, always a stellar bagel. NOW - because of so much hype and because of Covid life, there is a rigorous process to get your order - especially during weekend mornings. Order in advance. Pick up your yummy and you're good to go. Please - for the love of God - do not show up at 9 AM on the weekend and try to place an order. Read the website info and you'll be fine. Best bagels in Boston. My fav bagel place in SF (Midnight Bagel) recommended this place via Instagram when I put out the search and they did not disappoint. Location: In Cambridge, so it's a bit of a trek if you're staying in Back Bay, like I was, but I convinced my cousin to drive us there when she picked me up :) Ambiance: Casual. Pick up window. Food: My cousin and I ordered the hot smoked and the charcuter-brie to share. Tbh, my fav was the charcuter-brie, even though I chose the hot smoked. We also picked up a dozen bagels for her family to try the next morning. Unfortunately (and fortunately for me), the kids like the more traditional fluffy bagels vs. these chewier ones, so I got to take some home to SF with me. My best advice? If you're looking for just bulk bagels and spread, skip the line between 8-10am on weekends, and do the grab and go option. If you're looking to try one of their delectable bagel sandwiches, then you'll have to tough out the 30 min - 1 hour wait in line, and watch 10+ "chat and cuts" happen, which only makes the line longer and the customers increasingly agitated. Is it worth it? 100% yes. Their everything bagels, rosemary and honey cream cheese, and their mustard butter cream cheese are the best I've ever had and their prices are very reasonable. First, they sell out hours before their scheduled closing daily. The refusal to make more bagels to maintain a false sense of unprecedented demand is pretty frustrating. But even if you get the bagels, they are pretty rubbery. My jaw hurts every time I eat their bagels. Compared to the options in the area, it's not the worst bagel in Boston/Cambridge. 3.25*- the bagel itself was SO hard, but the smear was delicious. We went at around 1PM on a Saturday, and man oh man was this place PACKED. There are probably 6 tables as their seating area, so if you're lucky and your timing is good, you may be able to snag a spot. Otherwise, you may have to stand and eat or take it to go. I ordered the sesame bagel with veggie shmear ($5 after tax) and it was SO good. The bagel was tougher than I expected (I literally felt as though I was using all my force to rip the bagel apart with my teeth). The shmear was amazing. The bagels are soo delicious!! Nice doughy chew and light crispy outside. I got the Hot Smoked on an everything bagel. Beautiful presentation of colors and cross section. It came with fresh dill, red onion, salmon and cream cheese. The salmon was cooked instead of smoked. Everything tasted great together, but my only complaint was that everything kept sliding out of the bagel because of the cream cheese. The sandwich was a steep $11, but worth. My friends and I went here this past weekend. There was already a queue outside the shop and we waited about 20 minutes. We shared the Classic Jumbo sandwich which came with egg, cheddar cheese, mustard butter and bacon on a Cheddar garlic bagel and Eggspanola sandwich with egg, aioli, feta and avocado on a sea salt bagel. I also ordered the cucumber lemonade as a drink. The Classic Jumbo sandwich was really good. The outside of the bagel was crispy but the inside was soft. The hype is REAL. Bagels are simply fabulous (had the pretzel bagel and everything bagel). Can't submit this review without bringing up the wait for our food though. They open up at 8, but only allow you to order online after it opens so we got our food at 8:20. With that being said, multiple (non-bulk) orders were fulfilled before ours even though we had a lower order number. I used to love Bagelsaurus. But it's become easier to file paperwork with the IRS than to order from here. The list of rules of when you can order and how is crazy. To top it all off, you still get to wait in line. Before COVID, Bagelsaurus was fine, you stand in line, you get your food, you move on, and you know that you're going to wait for a while. Now I see what all the hype is all about. I made the trek to Porter Square on a Sunday morning to find a line down the block, eager faces waiting to order a delicious bagel from Bagelsaurus. Worth the wait. Trust me. The line moved fairly quickly and they cranked out fresh bagels like nobody's business. There are only a limited number of seats - five little tables with five chairs and a wall bench. Don't expect a seat unless you come at an off time ... not sure when that would be exactly. Anyways, I ordered the Classic Jumbo on a pretzel bagel with bacon added (+$2). The over medium egg was cooked perfectly and the cheddar cheese added a nice sharpness. The mustard spread pulled the whole sandwich together. The bagel itself had the perfect chew to it. I also ordered an everything bagel and cheddar onion bagel to-go. Good bagel sandwiches with high quality ingredients but not enough for me to keep coming. I really wanted to love Bagelsaurus because I was used to walking by long lines of people every weekend pre-pandemic. I first tried the hot smoked salmon, then an egg and avocado sandwich, then a BLT and the T-Rex (bacon peanut butter banana). I was pretty disappointed by the hot smoked salmon -- there was too much cream cheese for me and the flakiness of the salmon meant that it was difficult to remove the excess cream cheese. It would have been much better if the salmon:cream cheese ratio was flipped. The BLT was fine but a bit salty/decadent. The T-Rex was also fine but a bit decadent. And this is a lot coming from someone who normally loves salty and decadent foods. The bagels did not stand out to me as particularly good either (I'm a Bruegger's fan). Overall I've had better bagel/general sandwich experiences at home for a fraction of the price, so Bagelsaurus is not worth the wait or money for me. read more

Because of how packed it was, my boyfriend and I just took our bagel to go and ate outside in front of the barber shop next door. If I could, I would have tried their entire menu, but for my first visit, I went with the Hot Smoked on an everything bagel to share with my boyfriend. The hot smoked consists of smoked salmon, cream cheese, picked red cabbage, red onions, and fresh dill. We both really enjoyed this! And mustard butter. Do not miss the mustard butter. Not since PB&Mallow has an uncanny combination found Camberville roots that'll be researched for years to come. Having braved the legions, I also wrangled an $11(!) Salmon sandwich on poppy. The feast piles house-made hot smoked salmon salad atop a smear of plain cream cheese with razor thin slices of Mutsu (see also: Crispin) apple and a parsley-caper salad. Really bright, textured and rounded, although the price tag is a bit tough to swallow. Then again, bagels with a smear run four bones, so color it commensurate. The quality is breathtaking, and you can actually taste the love in each hand-shaped delight. I really can't believe we did not know about this place before. Quite literally shocked. This is hands down the best bagel place in the Boston area (Katz was my previous favorite and I think I may still prefer their actual bagels but you can't get egg, bacon etc at Katz like you can here). Here are the pros: - Menu options are all delicious (I had two bagels -- one custom (egg, bacon, cream cheese, salted butter on everything) and one T-Rex (bacon, banana, almond butter) so that I could really get a taste and they were both awesome - Try the banana coffee cake but skip the oatmeal choc chip cookie (the cookie was good just not all that special) - Try the Cucumber Lemonade if any part of you thinks you might enjoy it. I had never had it before but I was happy I took the gamble - Iced Coffee was great too - We went at 1PM on Saturday (2 hours before closing) and they still had all of their menu options so that was nice since some places in Boston run out pretty quickly - Service was great -- food came quickly and perfect; there is free water available too As you can tell by now, we tried a lot of the menu options.
