Honestly, for being supposedly the best bagel shop in Boston, I was not super impressed. Maybe it's because I've lived in New York previously, but I was expecting just a little bit more, especially with the reserve-in-advance system and the long line just to pick up the reservation. I ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese - just a standard that I usually get that is very simple. The bagel I got was scant of cream cheese, and the bagel itself tasted a bit stale? It was very difficult to chew through - I was definitely giving my jaw a workout just eating half of the bagel. I know bagels are usually pretty chewy, but my jaw has never had to work this hard to chew a bagel, and I've had many bagels before. The lack of cream cheese was also a bit disappointing. There was probably just enough cream cheese to coat both halves of the bagel, but nothing more. I may be a bit biased since I'm used to the New York style of bagel where they really load it up, but I feel like having too much and being able to scrape off is better than having too little and not really feeling satisfied. Overall, I really really wanted to like this place. I love bagels and have had many in my life, and especially with the supposed lack of bagel places in New York, I was really looking forward to this one. Picked up breakfast here! There were a number of people gathered outside the establishment. Place your order early... they sell out. I wanted a plain bagel but settled for a salt bagel to sandwich my egg and onions. The egg was sunny side up, which I LOVED... no gross eggy patties at Bagelsaurus! The sourdough flavor of the dough is excellent. Also, it was clear there was plenty of aeration in the dough, which created a light yet satisfying bagel. I asked for it extra-toasted, but when I received the bagel it was severely under toasted. I loved the texture of the bagel nonetheless; it had a beautiful chew and delicate skin. The ingredients for each bagel sandwich are legit and so fresh. I'm not from Boston so I was super excited to try an east coast bagel! My friend who lives in the area said this place is easily one of the best bagel spots in the city so i had to go. This place gets packed quickly so make sure to show up an early hour to get what you want. But regardless of the line this sandwich was totally worth the wait! The smoked salmon with slaw combo was insaneeee! I've never experienced a bagel sandwich like that. I will say the dill was little overkill there definitely was too much of it but it added dimension to the sandwich for sure! The bagels here are thinner and chewy here almost reminded me of a sourdough or french bread texture versus west coast bagels tend to be more softer and pillowy. To each their own! I was just happy to experience a new place! Overall would recommend for the great variety and unique menu. read more

When traveling, I extensively research and plan out where to eat my meals, and I knew I had to make it to Bagelsaurus. I enjoyed my first visit there so much that I went back again the next day- which is pretty much unheard of for me, as I try to maximize how many local restaurants I get to try in a new area. Second visit did not disappoint either, so I got another to go, and I am quite confident I'd return again if in the area. FIRST VISIT: Got here before open, line formed about 15 minutes before, moved quickly. Hot Smoked (locally smoked salmon with pickled red cabbage, red onion, and fresh dill) on Cheddar Garlic (weekend-exclusive flavor) with scallion schmear was the perfect first meal in Boston. More than ample serving, nice chew, generous portion of delicate and smoky fish, harmonious flavors. I especially enjoyed the dill, which I mistakenly thought might overwhelm the rest of the sandwich due to the quantity. But they know what they're doing here. SECOND VISIT: Arrived around lunchtime, got the Eggspanola (most frequent recommendation), added avocado, on Everything, shared with my mom. We were both in agreement that it was great, from the oozy egg to the smoked pimento aioli and the salty feta. Such a great twist on the traditional egg bagel breakfast. THIRD TIME'S THE CHARM: A moment of silence please for the Charcuter-brie, my dream bagel. French brie with fennel salami, salted butter, and arugula. Wanted the pretzel bagel (sold out!), settled for the sea salt (so good!), still really enjoyed this lunch bagel. Great contrast of textures and flavors, surprised it wasn't too salty. Tried the mustard butter which was tasty but didn't really work well with the sando, YMMV. TLDR: I really think you can't go wrong here. Great bagels, thoughtful sandwich combinations with quality ingredients across the board. Line is long for a reason, plan ahead because it's worth it. read more

Quite frankly, I saw this place had 4 stars and I am shocked... Because it should have 8. As if sourdough bagels were not already the best invention of all time, they make their egg sandwiches with over-medium eggs. Why, you might ask? So it's runny enough to be wonderfully delicious, but not so runny that it explodes all over your hands. They've thought of everything. My least favorite thing about this place, nay, the only bad thing about this place is that it's not open on Mondays. Bagelsaurus is a great place to grab breakfast! If you are looking for something bread/carb-y...go to Bagelsaurus! They have a variety of bagels for you to choose and you can decide to go light (butter, cream cheese etc) or big (breakfast sandwiches!) along with a cup of coffee. Either way, you will come out satisfied with your meal! The bagel itself is not as cheap, but they are fresh and of good quality/variety at ~$3 a piece..(you can get it slightly cheaper if you buy in dozen or day old bag). I had tried a sea salt bagel with honey rosemary cream cheese and was satisfied with the subtle aroma and even brought a few dozens with variety of cream cheese for my colleagues (they were a hit!). Highly recommended esp if you want to start your day right! Downside is that it seems to be crowded with lines especially in a weekend (but the line does move fast!). My boyfriend and I planned on getting a bagel to split, but it was so good that we ordered another one. We added an avocado and it hit the spot! The place is small, with very few tables, so sitting down might not be an option. If I could give Bagelsaures 10 stars I would. This bagel sandwich was absolutely DELICIOUS. Here's why: Starting off with the bagel itself. Perfectly toasty and crunchy on the outside, and yet somehow deliciously warm and soft on the inside. Then the toppings. I know it might sound like a strange combination, but its actually one of a kind. The almond butter provides for a nice kind of consistent, relatively neutrally flavored, base whose texture acts like any spread on a bagel. Then, the banana offers a kind of sweetness that you don't see very often in a bagel sandwich. In the comes the crispy bacon, acting bringing to the bagel the most perfect balance in both flavor--a savory component--and texture--a crunch. The honey tops it all off with a little added element of natural sweetness incase the banana wasn't enough. All together, these ingredients create the most captivating flavor and texture profile I've ever experienced in a bagel sandwich. I've been searching and searching for an Elvis type bagel now that I'm in Los Angeles over the summer and have yet to find one...let this speak to the uniqueness of Bagelsaures and its menu! read more

Hilariously long line for such a mediocre bagel. To be fair, I'm an absolute bagel/donut snob who has lived in NY/NJ most of her life. 3 stars alone are for the delicious scallion cream cheese. My favorite breakfast spot in Boston! My go-to's are the cheddar garlic bagel with spicy cream cheese and jumbo sandwich on an olive bagel. Having grown up in NJ, their bagels are the perfect combination of soft and chewy, without being too "doughy," unlike other places. -1 stars because the wait times are long, both to wait to place an order and then wait for the actual order to be ready. During COVID, you could pre-order bagels/sandwiches (individual items, not just in bulk, which is the case now) and set up a pick up time, which was so convenient and efficient (for both customers and staff).
