Bagel sphere is okay. I used to go for breakfast sandwiches until I realized that they don't use real eggs. Also, their sandwiches are pretty good, but they use cream cheese instead of mayo (you can ask for mayo), and the quality of the sandwich is hit or miss- one time it's great, next time its so-so. The young staff can be a put-off as they are quite full of themselves sometimes. I do love their house coffee. And they fill it to the very brim. Their scones are really good too. But watch out for their "day old" bagels. I tried a bag once, and I suspect they were more than one day old. I could not eat them (too chewy and stale) had to throw them away. read more

Onion bagel with cream cheese is my thing, and they do a fantastic job. The bagel is properly chewy with a crunch to the crust (at least when toasted) and it's plenty oniony - not a wimpy barely detectable hint of onion. I've always had friendly service too. read more

Great spot for breakfast! They're open early, which is awesome for people traveling to Eugene from other time zones. The service was good and the bagels were even better. I got a garlic bagel, which did not disappoint. I will definitely be recommending this place to others. read more

These bagels are better than anything you'd find at even the best, most authentic bagel shops in NY. I've been on a bagel hunt for the best bagel for years, and, surprisingly, I found them in Eugene--not NYC. I'm not sure if the owner's Jewish or not, but wow! He makes a true bagel: Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. I was so impressed, I inquired about their technique. Apparently, they use the authentic, old-world style of bagel making: boiling, then baking. Almost every place you go to nowdays steams their bagels. Not the same. Their other items and service were also top-notch. It's worth it to stop in Eugene just for these bagels. read more

i go here fairly often because its one of the few decent places downtown to pick up some fast-ish food. BUT it actually takes FOREVER and i've never understood why, they've got three to four people back there and... shit i dont know. I've waited 20 mintues for a non-toasted begel sandwich. But my main problem with this place is the avocado situation. It's disgusting. I'd had the close-faced veggie sandwich a few times and thought there was something weird tasting about the avo, but once i added avocado to an open-faced sandwich to discover a slimy green swirl squirted out of a tube. This used to be a good bagel shop but over the years the staff has developed an attitude that's slow to unresponsive. They're supposed to be open @ 7:00, a week or so ago no-one even bothered to show up to open the store until nearly 8. This morning all the outside dining tables and chairs were still inside and in the way of customers at 9:00 am , the cashier was painfully slow, they didn't have enough change in the cash drawer to take larger bills so everyone had to wait while someone went for more change, then, it finally came time to pay, and they hadn't even started my order. By the time I got it, it was cold. My time is limited in the mornings, so I expect to be able to get a quick bagel and be on my way. This is not the place for it. I'll be going somewhere else in the mornings from now on because I'm tired of the service. read more

I'm visiting Eugene, OR on business and was searching for a good light breakfast place. The first thing I noticed when biting into the bagels here is that they were so light and easy to chew through. Not like some bagels that are so thick and dense. Very good & not to heavy to start the day! I ordered the sausage and egg sandwich on a cheese bagel & it was delicious. Very friendly service too. I'm from New York area and been traveling for 7 months around the country. I'd just about given up on bagels out on the west coast, but I found a bagel that doesn't suck here! As most cities are now overrun with hipster joints, Bagel Sphere stands as a beacon of sincerity in a world of pretension. When I came here for the first time last week, I felt like I was taken back in time to the 90's and early 2000's, when a bagel shop could still be just a bagel shop. When any eatery could just be an eatery, for that matter, and not brag to you about how artisanal it is or give you lectures on food ethics or have slick exposed beam ceilings and a smug looking crowd populating the tables. As some of you may have also observed, the Eugene of 2018 is not the Eugene of 10 years ago, so Bagel Sphere reminded me of 2007 again, when I first came here and fell in love with the place (i.e. BEFORE hipster hegemony). But despite its simplicity and old-school vibe, make no mistake, the bagels are on point! I am from the East Coast, so I have fairly high standards of what makes a good bagel. The Everything bagel I had was delicious, just enough cream cheese, and reasonably priced. They serve well-chosen, inexpensive house coffee - again, nothing fancy - just a good cup of coffee at the price that coffee should be at. The baked goods looked really tempting as well. I applaud you, Bagel Sphere, for refusing to change. Please stay the way you are and resist being "cool!" Food should speak for itself and yours does. read more

This is one of the few bagel shops I've been to on the West Coast that actually makes true, New York-style bagels. They boil them instead of steaming them (I asked the guy behind the counter because they were so good), so the have that genuine crispy baked exterior and tender interior that you only get from bagels that are made the authentic way. If you want a truly good bagel, hit them up. Bagels this good are hard to come by. read more

Love this bagel shop. Always friendly people, but really they have the best REAL bagels in town. Lots of bagel flavors, but I'm a purist and stick to the traditional ones like everything, garlic, sesame or plain. I just wish they had a shop in north eugene so I don't have to drive downtown to get my fix. read more

This place is awesome! The crew is always friendly, the service is always above and beyond. I am a regular and they always know just what I want, or have a great suggestion when I am being indecisive. When its super busy (which happens daily) they bust out the bagels quick and with a smile..even if someone is being inpatient. The bagel dogs are kickass and so is the tuna melt. Horrible bagel and even worse service. All I wanted was a bagel TOASTED with cream cheese. What I got was a cold, hard piece of bread, untoasted with a glob of creamcheese in the middle, not even spread out. I had already driven away when I took my first bite but it was so bad I turned right around. I returned the bagel and asked for one TOASTED. The rude fat lady told me that it was toasted, she saw it come out. Ok, then may I have one EXTRA toasted I asked. She said rudely that she would waste the first one and make a new. I was then yelled to across the cafe if I migjht inspect the retoasted bagel. This one was also not browned. I asked if she would please toast the surface until it appeared light brown. She made such a big deal over me, the customer, asking for a toasted bagel that I finally just got my money back and the heck out of there. Obviously they have no desire to stay afloat in this struggling economy. I did recently get a nice apology from the owner regarding this complaint. I wish her the best of luck hiring staff that will treat customers kindly. read more
