What makes a great bagel? In my eyes, its the crust of the exterior, the soft yet chewy interior and a wonderful yeasty flavor. Bagel Boy bagels have all those qualities. The bagels are always ultra fresh and they always have lots of varieties: plain, sesame, egg, everything, cinnamon raisin and poppy. They have a great selection of cream cheese spreads, white fish spread is one of my favorites and its all incredibly fresh. They have a great variety of soups, a salad stations, flavored coffees, and deli meats to make a beautifully crafted cold cut sandwich. Their breakfast sandwiches are my favorite. With all that being said, its not cheap but in my opinion, if you want uncompromised quality then its worth every penny. For instance an egg bagel with scallion cc cost me three bucks and a quarter. A little steep but when I bit into the bagel, it was more than worth it. Im a customer for life. read more

I have been going to this location for years and never had any complaints. Today I went in to order lunch for my boyfriend and I, and the young man behind the counter (possibly mid 20's, white, with tattoos on his upper left arm) approached me to take my order. I said "I'm going to be ordering 2 sandwiches." and his response was "I believe that..." And then he winked at me. I ended up walking out due to how taken aback and insulted I felt. To say that remark on someone's weight is incredibly rude and insulting enough, let alone saying it while you are on the job serving a customer. I wanted to say something to the manager, but was just too upset and startled to open my mouth. I will absolutely NEVER buy anything again from Bagel Boy. My office orders breakfast and lunch from Bagel Boy at least 2-3 times per week. Some weeks it's everyday. Their bagels are enormous and fresh. The everything bagel is amazing with big grains of sea salt and garlic. I also love the cinnamon raisin bagel with walnut cream cheese. Other staples include bacon, egg & cheese on a roll, chicken salad and tuna salad. The sandwiches are also fantastic. No complaints here! I normally don't write reviews but am so disappointed in my sandwich today I felt the need to vent. Best bagels around however the service has ranged from good to terrible. When ordering sliced lox on my bagel at $10 I expect more than 2 paper thin slices. I also asked for a slice of onion which I didn't get. The young guy who made my bagel was too busy talking to his other young colleagues to focus on making my bagel correctly. I've given them several tries and at $10 I expect more. I typically end up stopping by this place after I get off the train station and find myself in a hurry to get a quick bite. I have been a customer of bagel boy for over 4 months and don't regret it one bit. I usually order either a tuna sandwich or a bacon egg and cheese. Nothing special, but definitely does its job in satisfying my taste buds. The store has a huge variety of different meat(s) and or salads you can put in your sandwich. Everything is served fresh. The only reason I gave it 4/5 stars is due to the line I find myself waiting on during their busy hours. It doesn't take too long but can still get frustrating if you are in a hurry. My company orders every morning from Bagel Boy, the food is great, however a few down sides, 1. The lady taking the orders on the phone is just plain rude!!!!!!!! i have to call back 3 times just to finish my sentence because shes so quick to hang up the phone. And then when asked about it, she states in a nasty tone, "i didn't hang up on you, you did." 2. The delivery takes FOREVER.!! We are literally 5 mins away from Bagel Boy, we have to wait an hour and on a few instances, two hours for a freaking couple of bagels and 2 coffees. If it really gets that busy, hire more delivery drivers, no one wants to wait an hour for breakfast. 3. They don't deliver after 230. so if you have a busy day and plan to push lunch, don't count on them to deliver your food. Find another place. Like i said the food is great, salmon is always fresh, and the muffins. If it wasn't for the few major issues, i would have given it 5 stars. read more

Good Brooklyn bagels, a little light and not dense the way I like them, but a sturdy bagel with a decent amount of cream cheese. Manhattan quality bagels in a Brooklyn setting - sign me up! These are almost as good as Tompkins Square Bagels, which is high praise. The food is good, no complaints. This review is about the phone ordering process. I don't know if the girls on the on the phone hate themselves or their jobs more or if they're just miserable cows, but the way they speak to PAYING customers is unacceptable. No one wants to hear your attitude or have you hanging up on when we ask "too many questions". We order from here all the time and it's always the same couple of people who need to take a course in proper customer service and a course in MANNERS. I asked to speak to the manager at one point at which one of the girls basically hung up the phone on me. Take your sour attitude elsewhere, this is absolutely rude and disrespectful behavior. In person ordering is never a problem. I hope management takes these types of recommendations seriously and takes appropriate action. read more

The macaroni salad was pretty bad as well, which used to be my go-to. Also the service is terrible. I've been coming here for years, but lately, the quality has been inconsistent. Years ago, the guys would put wayyyy to much cream cheese on the bagels. I had to scoop some out to really enjoy it. However, nowadays the bagels are barely toasted. And to add insult, the bagel comes with a little smear of cream cheese. The quality now just isn't "Brooklyn like" anymore. Oh and the prices went up too. So why not give us the same amount of cheese like you did years ago? I still come to bagel boy because it is close by. Bagel Boy has been my go-to bagel store since they started on ocean ave. Their bagels have always been the best in the area. Crusty outside, fluffy inside and MASSIVE, they are exactly what a Brooklyn bagel should be. And anyone who knows Bagel Boy knows about their famous chicken salad, which is insanely delicious, is enough to draw me there regularly. Bagel Boy, I love you. I've been to all 3 locations in Sheepshead, Bay Ridge and Old Bridge. All delicious. But I have one serious gripe that keeps you from getting 5 stars. Your new(ish) electronic order delivery/pos system takes your counter guys 5x longer to take an order now, especially the language-challenged dudes, and the wait is TERRIBLE. So much so, that I now walk out at least twice a week because the line is so long and slow. You're losing business. Fix it. read more

Great sandwiches!! It wasn't crowded on a Tuesday afternoon at 3pm. They're friendly and when I checked in, they had a buy 6 bagels, get 3 free. There is limited seating however. Overall, I'd be back. We had the chicken club and the classic roast beef. Both were good, but the roast beef was nothing spectacular. They get 4 stars because of the chicken club. They also have a rewards club and a card they give you for that, so be sure to ask if they don't give you one. =) read more

I used to work in the neighborhood and would order lunch from here at least once a week. I've even driven all the way here from my home for breakfast. Food: It is a Deli, so dont expect an extravagant meal and with that being said, as a deli it is a notch above the rest, maybe even two. I come here for the bagels (you name it, they have it, in terms of bagels and shmears). I generally get a whole wheat bagel, toasted, with lox cream cheese and actual smoked lox with a tomato (this will blow your mind, try it). I love the create your own salads option, I get pretty crazy sometimes with my salads. I also like their soups (split pea and chicken noodle/rice) but nothing spectacular. I've never had their coffee or sandwiches, so I cant speak for those items. Service: Sometimes it can be a bit slow but I never wait longer than 15 minutes. The people behind the counter give pretty standard service, nothing more. Atmosphere: Its a typical Deli, maybe a bit cleaner looking and feeling than your average. There are also a few chairs to sit in and eat but generally, most people take their items to go and eat else where. Overall: I keep coming back here because I love their bagels and the create your own salads (the salads are a bit expensive). Got breakfast here on my way home from the gym. There was a sign clearly directing customers to the end of the line, and the line itself was orderly and quick. I passed by several fridges full of drinks, yogurts, fruit salads, etc. The ingredients were all clearly visible behind glass and all looked fresh. There were easy-to-read menus posted that you could look at while waiting for the guy with the notepad to take your order. I wish I'd seen the menu panel all the way at the register, which was different, before I'd ordered but I'll know for next time. Once you place your order (mine was an Uptown on poppy seed and a Sweetheart on an egg bagel) it gets a little confusing - everyone is just waiting bny the register for their order to be called up. They don't have order numbers so I can see thisbeing an issue if two people order the same thing, or similar things. It also leaves you in a helpless "I don't know what's going on now" phase until your order is called up. They do accept credit cards. I added an iced coffee to my order last minute and it was perfect. The sandwiches are neatly wrapped and given to you in a paper bag with napkins, inside a plastic bag. The cashier asked me whether I'd like a printed receipt, and after reading other reviews on here I asked for the receipt. There was no overcharge so I guess I got lucky. I'll ask every time I come here just to be on the safe side. I felt like it was slightly expensive paying over 17 bucks for 2 sandwiches and a coffee, but to be fair the prices WERE posted on the menu and I COULD have gotten cheaper things if I was on a budget. I also can't say they skimped - the layer of ham on my bagel was almost as thick as the bagel itself. My only real complaint is that I asked for the bagels toasted and I'm not sure what happened; they were warmed but not "toasted" - though they were slightly burnt at the edges so I know the guy doing my order didn't forget to do it, that's probably just how their grill toasts things. It didn't ruin the taste at all. For those not in the mood for a bagel, they also have a salad bar, wraps and heroes, muffins, oatmeal with various toppings, and a selection of pastries. I just question who goes to a place called "Bagel Boy" when not in the mood for a bagel. Couple of little things that could be improved, but overall tasty food and good experience. I used to order from this place. Lunchtime rush takes a little long, but I visited the store a few times and it does get very busy. My go to is the toasted sesame bagel with the scallion cream cheese. Pizza bagel is good, too! Service is quick and efficient. I would definitely go to a quieter bagel place (I think Sheepshead Bay is a friggin zoo and I hate it) if I wanted to sit in and eat. read more

Tried this bagel shop after purchasing a groupon offer. First, I must say that the service was horrible! There were about 5-8 people behind the counter and the store was pretty empty the afternoon I visited (The amount of people working behind the counter out numbered the total people in the store!!). However, I was only serviced after complaining to the manager on duty. Haven't experienced being ignored like that ever and I dont plan on returning. The food was pretty good. But I dont feel I should have to beg anyone to accept my business and I would have simply walked out if it wasnt for the fact that my groupon was already paid for. read more
