I read such great reviews about their brunch but I was very underwhelmed. I'm always a sucker for Huevos Rancheros on a menu but this in particular didn't live up to my expectations. The tostada tasted stale and the eggs were barely warm. It also seemed the guacamole was out of a store bought container - it didn't taste fresh at all. Dining on the porch at Bagatelle is always a must for me when I come to Key West. The food here is delicious as are the cocktails. Plus you can't beat watching the activity on Duval below and listening to music from Hog's Breath. We came as a family of five this visit. I requested a table on the second floor porch and they gave us the perfect table. Angel was our server, attentive and friendly. I started with a cocktail, a keylime martini, which was just like eating a piece of pie. So yum...you must try it! The family shared truffle fries and barbecue shrimp to start and a bottle of wine with dinner. The fries were perfectly fried with the slightest hint of truffle and lightly salted. The bbq shrimp is a staple when we dine here. Large shrimp with a tangy bbq sauce. For dinner, I had the tuna poke appetizer and an arugula & hearts of palm salad to eat a little lighter. The tuna poke was good, however the salad did not impress. I wouldn't get it again. I haven't dined here except for dinner, but hear Bagatelle has a great brunch, too. We came here twice on our trip, once for brunch and again for dinner. We ended up sitting at the same table both times (upstairs, inside, closest to the patio). All the drinks were good. The warm brie is amazing and a must when here. The lobster mac n cheese was really good as well. We were expecting chunks but it was actually shredded so we didn't see it at first and asked for more lobster which they were so kind to do. The truffle fries were good. Breakfast tacos were good. We came to celebrate our anniversary. I requested to sit upstairs on the balcony and the hostess sat us up there with a bubbly attitude. The music from next door was great. I started with the Blueberry - Basil lemonade cocktail. It is supposed to be one of their specialties. Again, it was nice, but nothing memorable. (You aren't going to ask for the recipe.) The menu refers to Bagatelle as having a French background; however the menu does not offer French food. I got the heuvos rancheros and my husband got the lobster omelette. The rancheros are covered with sauce and served "Luke warm". My husband said his omelette was good. (On other foods he has said outstanding - or he wants another.) I asked for more water,while waiting I drank my husbands. Overall - it was just nice. My husband and I brought my grandparents here for lunch while in town. One of the draws was the fact that they had indoor seating. Keep in mind they do have indoor seating but you have to climb a large flight of stairs to get to it. So if you have mobility challenged folks in your party, you will likely end up outside. Luckily for us, it was not too warm or humid this day, so we were happy with sitting outside. The service was quick and friendly. We ordered the fish tacos (received the fish sandwich, which was eaten due to hanger LOL), the ahi tuna sandwich (which was fantastic, the arugula was a great touch), the southern Benedict (my grandfather raved about how delicious it was), and the spinach omelette. This was such a nice brunch at the cutest converted old house in the keys. My family were on a trip and we decided to go for brunch on the last day. Had one of the worst lunch there today. We ordered a couple of lobster Benedict. That was the worst egg Benedict I ever had. Mushy muffin, tasteless and watery hollandaise and the lobster was beyond recognition: shredded pieces of over-boiled, bland unseasoned shellfish. For appetizer the warm Brie was not even baked, just a microwaved piece of cheese on some arugula with almost no dressing, a few un-toasted pecans and some pieces of dried fruits. We'll, after a few bites we just paid, got up and left to go get a decent lunch somewhere else. Avoid this place. read more

We split a Caesar (and the kitchen went ahead and split it onto 2 plates) and shared two delicious entrees: the Master Chef winning swordfish and the sesame-crusted tuna with spicy peanut noodles. The Key lime martini is incredible--light and creamy (a hard combo to master). Ended with the Key lime pie, which we'd recommend for the novelty. My family spent a week vacationing in Key West. After we returned home we were reflecting on our adventures and remembering how much fun we had, and we agreed that our dinner at Bagatelle was our best meal and overall restaurant experience. The service was top notch and our food was delicious. Our son has a peanut and an egg allergy, and our server was diligent in communicating this to the kitchen and reassured us as each dish was served what was safe and what was not. We also had a goal of trying at least one serving of Key Lime pie daily, sometimes two, from a different restaurant each time to sort of eat our way through Key West. At the end of the week we also agreed that Bagatelle's Key Lime pie was the best we enjoyed compared to the seven or eight others we tried. I highly recommend choosing this restaurant for dinner during your stay in Key West and plan to return next time we visit. read more

Bagatelle is a classy seafood restaurant in Key West's historic seaport district. Not to be confused with other Bagatelles you May be aware of, this one is pure restaurant with no bar or club. The ambiance is chic, and the service was professional, though we did need to wait 20 minutes after our reservation to be seated because they were running behind ("island time" I guess). They have indoor options as well as some outdoor tables on the balcony, which give a fun view of roosters in the trees. It can get a bit hot and muggy, though. The food was just ok. The appetizers were so-so without much flavor. The swordfish had a nice, tender texture but was also lacking in flavor. The key lime pie was quite good, though with an obscene amount of merengue. Overall an alright option for a fancy meal out. Not my preference for flavors, but your mileage may vary. read more
