We ordered the sukiyaki udon, tonkotsu ramen, a salmon avocado roll, and an eel roll. The udon was warm and comforting with tender beef, and the ramen broth was rich without being too heavy. The sushi was fresh, and the salmon was especially good. I was dining with my son, and he finished almost his entire bento box with yakisoba and a California roll, which rarely happens since he's a picky eater! That alone made the visit worth it. The restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly, and the service was attentive. Overall, it was a great experience, and we'll definitely be back the next time we're at Brea Mall. Highly recommend if you're looking for a reliable Japanese spot in the area.

Happy hour (half-off specials) is hours long and they include basically everything! I have yet to try anything I didn't like and the portions are outstanding! It's slightly farther than we go for regular spots ut we make an exception for Kabuki Brea. Plenty of free parking and there are several other stores/services within the shopping center so you can stop while.you shop or shop then stop! This location is pretty much cursed -- not many ramen shops last long here. For the record, Ramen Ginza Onodera only lasted 5-6 months. (Personal opinion: they brought a pretty mediocre product to the US compared to their Harajuku operation -- look at the duck broth and other fusion dishes there. To be fair, those aren't the kind of ramen you'd find in a supermarket corner.) 2. Yorba Linda has zero specialized ramen shops -- hence the "desert." With Ramen Akimoto's departure to Fountain Valley, that gap got even bigger... until Garlic High. A bit of digging suggests Garlic High is expanding -- they opened a Sunnyvale location in December 2025, with the Yorba Linda store following only 5 months later. On to the review. I ordered the standard Jiro-style ramen, everything standard. Raw take: 1. Despite their warning that the small portion is larger than at other ramen shops, the standard order (modifications cost extra) doesn't come with the intimidating mountain of bean sprouts you'd expect if you're familiar with the style. 2. No soft-boiled egg -- raw egg only on the menu. Overall, I think this is a great addition to Yorba Linda. Jiro-style is polarizing: people who love it love it a lot; everyone else complains it's too fatty or too salty. Garlic High is less aggressive on both fronts, and they serve the tare on the side if you want it stronger. For other Jiro-style fans in LA: check out Tsujita Annex (which serves a Jiro-style ramen inspired by Ramen Bario -- note that Tsujita and Bario are separate companies in Japan with different noodles) and Umenoya. Sadly Ramen Akimoto is no longer around, and even before the move they had stopped serving Jiro-style on Mondays. As a ramen enthusiast, I'd love to see Garlic High break the curse and stick around.

For those that are not familiar with Mala Tang style restaurants, you may be carried away by picking up lots of ingredients, and will cost you an arm and leg as the price of your meal is based on the total dry weight of the ingredients you choose before check out. This place is $16.49 per lb. So keep this mind as you select your ingredients. I had the hot and sour soup base, and it was very delicious with all the added ingredients that I had chosen (sort of like a self serve hotpot). I did went overboard as mine was just over 2lbs... The rare steak pho was my favorite dish- pho is a hard dish to beat and mess up, and it came with not just a lot of noodles but meat. My next favorite were the pork rolls which were a huge portion of pork, veggie, and some crispy fried ingredient that provided the perfect crunch. As I'm writing this I'm craving another bite hahaha. The sizzling steak plate came with a lot of vegetables, salad, rice, and pickled daikon and carrot. This was the most expensive dish we ordered, but the steak felt too chewy and overcooked. We also ordered the banh khot appetizer, which is a dish I've never tried before but have always wanted to! I thought it was an egg dish, but was pleasantly surprised by the pancake texture and coconut flavor. We were so full by the time this dish came out, as they informed us the banh khot takes some time to prepare, but we still finished this entire spread. If I'm ever back in the area, I'd definitely come back to Pho Ha! Their menu is extensive and has all the Vietnamese classics so I'm excited to try :)

This location, imo, is a lil pricey. We ordered a bowl of bún thịt nướng (~$17ish). For that price, other places will throw in an egg roll or two, but here, it's strictly grilled pork. We went ahead and ordered an egg roll side for $3.75. That was and is a very expensive add-on. The bánh hỏi tàu hũ ky (~$17) is priced similarly to the bún where you only get the main protein at cost. With that said, the food was fine, but I couldn't help but feel that they were nickel and dim-ing you. Other locations offer combinations at the same price point. I just like the variety without having to upgrade everything.
