Service was quiet but nice, nothing to complain about. You order at the counter and then take a seat. The menu consists of tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos, salads and more (plus a kids menu); portions aren't huge and prices range from $10-16. Tacos and burritos come in different varieties and with chips and salsa. I got the soft corn veggie tacos, which came with two. A little spicy though not super flavorful or stuffed. The mad dog burrito which is a mixture of chicken and beef was pretty good though not super hot. The quesadillas are a few dollars more expensive and come in a 10 inch tortilla so perhaps it's more filling. They also advertise family taco night food. Only one other person came in while we were dining in on a Sunday afternoon. Pay cash to avoid a the credit card fee. It's connected to a Burger place, which also had no customers. Street parking is available and there are plenty of other restaurants on the main strip. read more

This review is based on my Covid-19 outdoor dining experience. I came here for lunch with some friends, and thought that the food was yummy, and prices reasonable overall. They have several outdoors spots, but they go quick, so make sure you grab a seat as soon as you see one! I'm not really sure how ordering regularly would work, but since they take orders inside, we took turns going in to order so that someone would be able to keep claim to our outdoor table. You order and pay indoors, and then when the food is ready, they bring it to your table outside. It's not really clear how service really works, because my friends and I were brought our order (which we didn't know was going to happen), but then we cleaned the table ourselves... so is it self service or staff served? They also ask for a tip upfront when you're paying, but you order at the counter instead of being seated outdoors and having someone come take your order. Although the service protocol is confusing, the staff was very friendly, and the food was yummy and reasonably priced. I ordered a burrito, and to be honest, I'm not a burrito fan, but their big beef wrap was delicious, and the salad and tacos my friends ordered looked good. Oh, and they serve you complimentary salsa and chips with your dish - I wish I had known this because then I wouldn't have ordered guacamole and chips for us to nosh on while waiting for our order. Mostly people have been doing takeout during the Covid pandemic timeframe however the popularity of this place has not gone down. Some people like to eat inside now since things have been opening up after pandemic however most people still prefer to do takeout. On August 23 we placed an order and had it delivered. We have had the food at badlands before so we knew what to expect. We ordered some tacos and chili fries. Delivery was fine and we started to eat. Everything was going ok until I got to the bottom of my chili fries and noticed something very hard. It was a rock! At first I thought it was some thing burnt but no.....it was a rock! We called badlands and explained to the young lady on the phone what happened. She started to laugh and said " so do you want another one?" We said "no thank you but wanted to inform you of what happened and that someone could get hurt. She then giggled some more. I wanted to see if maybe she would inform someone in charge but I'm sure she didn't. My husband has been passing this place by o. His travels for work. So finally one weekend after being out and about town, he decides to go try this place out. It was quiet on the Saturday we went, only 2 other parties were already dining. It was too hot to eat outside so we decided indoors was best. Nice establishment, clean and well maintained. It took a few minutes for the person to come from behind to take our order, she may have been the only person. Ordering was quick and easy and service was within 8-10 minutes. The portions were generous and eye-peeling. My son got the chili n cheese burrito, I got the fish tacos, my husband a bit over hungry got chicken tacos, beef tacos and shredded beef burrito. All cam with tortilla chips and fresh salsa. Very filling, we all tried eachothers choices and everyone was just delicious. My husband was too full from 3 tacos he opted to take the shredded beef burrito home, but he took a huge bite out if it first became he wanted to know if it was good..... it was. The food was manageable, but the chicken burrito is horrendous. The chicken looked very yellow and it was hard to swallow due to it being very chewy. If you're looking for something quick, this is not acceptable due to the fact that it gets soggy within minutes of your time and it really isn't what you expect. When you want to take something to go, they give you small boxes and not help you with it. they may have a decent sized menu, but it doesn't mean that it's good. The manager was very sluggish and grumpy while his staff were fooling around and playing games. Almost all of the lights were broken and the tables were not that clean. While visiting some family in Ramsey, I had the time to check out badlands tacos. Badlands is connected to a burger joint, so it serves up both Mexican and burgers in the same kitchen. Seemed a bit odd, but the tacos ended up tasting great! I ordered the badlands tacos ($8.50) which comes with two tacos and chips & salsa. The tacos had ground beef, lettuce, tomato, cheese, sour cream and hot sauce. They were packed with meat and toppings, but lacked a bit of flavor (I couldn't really taste the hot sauce), but the ingredients were fresh! My boyfriend had the kick'n chick'n burrito ($9.95) which comes with a burrito and chips & salsa. The burrito had shredded chicken, guac, cheese, sour cream, lettuce and tomato. He said it was tasty but he needed to add some of the complimentary hot sauce to it for some extra flavor. All in all a great experience with quick & friendly service. We really wanted to like this joint, but just too many let downs and a more than moderate price point prevented that. Ordering was a breeze, even though the owner was distracted by an unpleasant guest grumbling about waiting too long for his food. For $38, here's what we had: A vegetable burrito, served with tortilla chips and a side of salsa. Nothing amazing at all. Nothing. A vegetable quesadilla, also served with tortilla chips. Please see the photo, but the presentation was problematic in that the center of the dish was waterlogged as the moisture from the vegetables collected in the center, thereby soggifying the entire center. Not good. Worse still, the underside was burnt, not completely, but enough to affect the overall taste. Guacamole and chips - tasted good, creamy...but was missing my preferred additives of tomato, onion, cilantro, etc. If it was in there, it was chopped so finely that it couldn't be detected or even tasted. A seltzer water and a regular water. That's it. Almost $40 bucks. Not again, Food Lovers. read more

I usually don't give establishments terrible reviews but my visit today at Badlands was absolutely terrible. They served me stale tortilla shell that had a very off taste with my Baja taco salad. The chicken was extremely chewy and very unpleasant. The salad taste very old and the cheese seemed expired. First time coming to this spot and man was I happy to find this place, close by to college. Walking in the place is nice and clean. They have a great diverse menu with many options so we ordered enough food to satisfy two, maybe even four people because we wanted to try everything. The prices were very reasonable and each dish came with a side of chips and salsa. We had two orders of fish tacos, one chipotle chicken burrito and one bean dish which I can't recall what exactly it was since it was her order. The fish tacos were amazing but they are fried so of you don't line fried food, don't get it but you're missing out if you don't try it! The bean dish was also amazing, I'll update the review once I find out the name. But the chipotle chicken burrito was the pint downside, it was just way to dry, I think if they added some sour cream or other things it would be better. But I'll be sure to try the other burritos too, I'm sure they are better. Overall, I had a good experience so I'll be coming back again soon. read more

This place is so bad that it's actually disappointing. When we first came in, nobody was even there. I thought that it was closed. The place was dusty. It's like nobody clean it in weeks. The food took so long to come, not to mention how it was cold when we got it. My mother was unsatisfied with her meal. The chicken tacos tasted like fish. When she told the worker that she didn't like the food, he called the manager over. She said that she didn't want a refund and it was fine if they just took it away. He offered to exchange it. She said okay. But then he said, "If you exchange, how will I know if you will like it?" Keep in mind, he offered he to exchange the food. He said his words with a grumpy tone, as if he was fed up with her, when she didn't even do anything. She let them keep it without a refund. As we were eating, I saw that people were picking up orders. They would be there for 7-15 minutes. This would happen to all the people that came to pick up an order. About 5 people came to pick up orders, but they weren't ready. Also the prices were CRAZY expensive. What a terrible establishment! Would never recommend! read more

Today I went with the badlands tacos, which consisted of ground beef, sour cream, cheddar cheese and a whole lot of lettuce. It was an overload of lettuce actually, I scooped most of it off. The taco itself was delicious, had a good kick to it and lots of flavor. I also got a side of guacamole, which was good but I found the portion to be on the skimpy side. They had no problem charging me for it so next time cough up the guac Badlands. The food usually comes out quick but today there was a bit of a lag. I've been here about a handful of times and it's consistently the same quality. Nothing too special about the food. Nothing to rave about or complain about. The prices are a little high considering the lack of "wow" factor. Never my first choice for Mexican but my mom loves it. I'd rank it above a Moes below a Chipotle for quality and taste. Service however is always great. The staff is super friendly and the owner is nice as can be so that's always a bonus. However if you pay by credit card it requires a tip on the new machine they use. I forget what it's called but I think it's a little strange as its counter service. Clearly tip should be a nice option but to make it required is slightly unnerving. My family and I all had takeout burritos. The wife and I both had "mad dog" burritos. They were dogs, all right. Flavorless, watery, and barely warm. The beef half was at least salty. The chicken half was basically boiled chicken and some lettuce. There was supposed to be salsa, sour cream, and tomato as well. Mine had none of those things; my wife says hers had a bit of sour cream but no salsa or tomato. Very disappointing. My daughter liked her kickin' chicken burrito a little more, I guess.
