Carnitas Taco (soft shell)
Venessa M.

Our family enjoyed this place as we wanted to check-out the newer food establishments in the area. There is a parking lot available. Upon entering, the place is spacious and has a few tables for indoor dining to the right. I personally liked the colorful tiles on the tables. You can order using the kiosk to your left, or head straight up to the cashier. We ordered the chicken quesadilla, shrimp burrito, shrimp taco, birria taco, and carnita taco. They were all freshly made, savory, juicy, and delicious. There is also a salad bar that has additional condiments in case you wanted. The prices were also reasonable. I'd recommend this place if you're nearby.

Amazing tacos!!! Staff is so nice and location very clean. Great quality of food, definitely will be back soon! Special shoutout for the churro it was amazing. Thank you :)

Three Birria Tacos Consome

First time placed a delivery order here! I did 2 steak tacos with hand made tortillas. They are really, reaaaaally good! The meat is soft and so flavorful...Congrats!!! And I'm waiting to have my husband's opinion about his birria tacos. They look OHHHH, let's see in a few minutes... tic, toc, tic ,toc

We did take out from El Taco. Unfortunately, the experience didn't pen out as we were anticipating. I got a steak, a chicken and a Baja fish taco. I couldn't really tell any difference between steak and chicken, there was no real taste difference. The Baja fish was also so bland. Seemed like none of the proteins got any seasoning. The side ingredients are also just thrown in the taco, they don't enhance any of their look or taste. The store itself is very neat, clean, and colorful. Spacious for lots of sitting area.

This is the newest spot to eat in Closter. I believe it's the only Mexican spot in Closter too. It's good to see some culture in this town. Location is right next to a CVS and my local favorite French place for breakfast. It's been open for about a month now. The place is packed and the line is out the door. There is usually about a 5-10 minute wait to order since the place is new, followed by 4-8 minutes to receive the food. The kitchen is fully exposed and very small. Which makes the time length totally understandable. The menu is very easy to read, and they have a bunch of options. Not too many that it makes you confusing, which I appreciate. I had to try multiple items on the menu here, since I've been waiting for this place to open for a while. I ordered chips and guacamole (obviously), chicken quesadilla, the fish tacos, the carne asada tacos and last but not least the street corn. Starting with the guacamole and chips. OMFG. They are fresh and super hot in the bag as soon as you receive them. The guacamole is so fresh and satisfying, this is a MUST HAVE here. Literally rate it a 10/10. Next, the chicken quesadilla was magically, first of all it was huge and came with 4 slices almost as big as pizzas slices. The chicken was fresh and very tender, the cheese was amazing. Rating the chicken quesadilla 8/10. They give you sour cream with the quesadilla, but just a very small container. I then ordered the taco Baja fish, that was actually pretty good. Rating the fish taco 7/10. The carne asada tacos was okay, I wasn't a fan of the seasoning. The taco meat tasted more like indian rather then Mexican, or Spanish seasoning. The cilantro makes it taste fresh, but I wasn't in love with them. I would rate them 6/10. Last but not least the street corn, drenched in mayo, cojita cheese. This is 1000% a must buy! I rate the street corn 9/10. This is more like a fast food quick place, rather then a hit down dinner. Hope you guys enjoy

Got the birria burrito. I was really excited because it's hard to find good birria around northern valley. The burrito was poorly constructed. The rice was all on one side and was dry. The beef was packed densely on another end and was also dry. I brought this up to the staff and they gave me a cup of consome which was absolutely amazing. The flavor of the beef was great, but you can't have burritos constructed this way. I will maybe come back for a redemption. Cheers!

Tacos - Baja Fish (bottom), Carnitas (middle), Carne Asada (top) - all so good!

It's amazing here! The food is so fresh and delicious. The workers are all so receptive and friendly :-) I had the Baja fish, carne asada, and carnitas tacos. Everything was SO fresh and the meat melted in your mouth. The beer battered fish taco was so tender and you could taste the beer. It had the perfect crunch. Everything is made to order and they definitely take pride in their work. I will most definitely be returning!

Loaded Nachos

The staff here are extremely friendly! We got the Al pastor loaded nachos and they really were loaded with toppings! It was delicious. They also have an assortment of spicy sauces. Only try if you can handle the heat! There is a huge parking lot as well as outdoor and indoor seating!

Was dying to go here. Maybe opening or newbie restaurant stuff. Pre ordered pickup (30 minutes). Inside a small area with convenient parking near CVS. Huge pretty environment with lots of staff. I counted seven employees so clearly ramped up and ready. Lots of seating available and pleasantly spaced. Food is a work in progress. Ordered pastor burritos bowl with rice and beans and no pineapple (who wants that?!!). Marinated pork was ok but not flavorful, very few beans which is a big minus for moi. Partner got carne Asada quesadillas I think. Ordered fries which were delicious (I know it's taboo but she loves fries and they were slightly crunchy and well cooked. My inner thought was Chipotle is better and that's not a good thing, she articulated my inner thoughts too. We will definitely be back again but not running ...as I'd hoped. Hopefully just beginners issues.

My friend and went there on a complete whim. It popped up when we were searching for a place to go…read more Boy, am I so glad we did!! First, the place is very clean and well kept. Decor was minimal but nice and comfortable. Had great music in the background (80's rock - yes I'm GenX). We decided to sample a few things so for appetizers we got the mini calzones (sausage and broccoli rabe) that came 3 on a plate and were about the size of a ravioli and stuffed full. Absolutely delicious. Not overwhelming in garlic taste or sausage - a perfect balance. We also got the lobster dumplings. This came in a small bowl with broccoli florets and a tasty sauce. There were 4 dumplings and again, perfect balance, did not have an overwhelming lobster smell at all and the sauce was tangy with a sweet aftertaste. We also had the ahi tuna tacos, came 2 on a plate, piled high with cabbage, a slice of avocado, tuna, and a crème sauce that left me wanting more, and 2 cucumber slices on top. Again - delicious. For dinner we split the Ahi Tuna and it came with Soba Noodles and Bok Choi in a sauce. The tuna was seared with, what tased like, crushed red pepper flakes but it only had a slight "kick" to it. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted so great. We got the polenta on the side and it was perfect for offsetting the spice! Dessert matched the meal in its taste and presentation! We had the dark chocolate mousse and the napoleon. I think the best part of both was the ice cream that came with it, a perfect addition to the dessert and presented with such elegance that you almost didn't want to eat it. Our waiter was fantastic. He gave us some good suggestions that we went with and did not steer us wrong. Right now, they are BYOB. We had a great chat with the chef on our way out and he was super nice and friendly (and he beat Bobby Flay!). This is our new favorite place and can't wait to go back to try more. They have a lunch menu that is different from the dinner menu that I can't wait to try. Chef Michael says his chicken burger is the best! Gotta try it!!

Every Tuesday is Taco Tuesday; buy one house taco and get the second one free. Between the restaurant title and this awesome deal, it's pretty obvious which route I decided to go! The gringo was the sole taco that came in a hard shell packed with beef while the yardbird was packed with hot honey fried chicken. While the chorizo had an uncanny combination of vegetables, I gave my tastebuds the benefit of the doubt and devoured this immediately. The Al pastor was piled with pineapples, which was surprisingly another great addition to this tortilla! Just when I had enough surprises, the plot thickened as I explored vegetarian tacos. Never would I ever guessed that cauliflower and bananas mix well on a soft shell! I ironically report that the taste actually surpassed the protein tacos! I will copy and paste this review across the Park Ridge and Mahwah locations so emphasize my appreciate for their consistency in providing great Mexican food. If you are consistently performing, Linguini will take care of you. Like I've taken care of many others. I will bring you to the top with me. If you backstab me. Oh if you come for me at the top, you will reach an abyss so deep you may end up digging to China. Don't test me. I'm not that guy. Anyways, I've tried a lot from Azteca. Most of what they've got is a 4/4.5 out of 5 but I'm rounding up for the full experience. Phenomenal price point. Variety of food that all comes out well. Performs well in restaurant and when the food travels. Friendly staff. And local business of which I support. I suffer from GGS - Good Guy Syndrome, sorry not sorry. My motha, bless her soul. I legit mean bless her soul. Be nice. Pray. Bow down to her. She doesn't eat much food but she even loved the taco salad here so much that she asked to go again. So much protein, so well seasoned. Just as their other options showcase as well. My personal favs are the Kash Burrito and the, what I'd call "trademark" Cod Burrito. Never have seen it elsewhere like this. The wrap is toasted wonderfully, great rice, great salsa. I mean this place just does it real well. I've had tacos, appetizers, desserts. Never let down. El Azteca is consistently good. Constantly pushing out quality product. Is it the best Mexican I've had? No. But it's the most underrated. Being a consistent 4, makes you a five in my books. It's like that girl that's occasionally a 6 or occasionally an 9... you can't bring her home. But that girl that's consistently a 7 or an 8? You let her meet the fam. I don't where I'm going with this one. All I'll say is STOP. Stop going to Chipotle, Bubbakoo's, etc. when you could be supporting a better quality and friendlier priced location in El Azteca. Thank you in advance. I will be watching - LB.
