Stopped in this weekend for lunch and was pleasantly surprised! We were immediately provided with chips and fresh salsa to snack on as we perused the menu. I started with a glass of the red sangria (which was perfect) and my friends and I shared an appetizer of guac, nachos, chicken chimichangas, and flautas - definitely enough for 3-4 people! We were extremely impressed with the appetizers and couldn't get enough of the guac (which says A LOT considering none of us are big guac lovers!). I had the stuffed strip steak which was cooked to perfection. The dish is served with mushrooms, peppers, and a tomato sauce on top, along with refried beans and rice. You are definitely getting your moneys worth with the portions. My friends got the enchiladas and fajitas, which were both just as phenomenal. The service was very attentive and the decor was gorgeous. Bright blue walls with unique artwork everywhere. Dimly lit with a cool vibe. We dined to the sounds of the Gypsy Kings, which I could never complain about. This place is definitely great for lunch, dinner, a date, or a social gathering. I can't wait to go back! read more

I have no idea where these positive reviews are coming from. This is some of the worst Mexican food I've ever had. Everything we ordered was completely devoid of flavor. If our drinks had any alcohol in them, I couldn't taste it and I felt totally sober after drinking half a pitcher of margaritas. The service was ok, I guess, although our waiter acted like he barely had a pulse. The best part of our meal, sadly, was the salsa they served with the tortilla chips. It was pretty good, which makes me think they poured it out of a jar. I will never go back here, and if you've never been, do yourself a favor and go to Taco Bell instead. read more

Tequila Sal y Limon is always a great option whether for lunch or dinner you will have a great meal. We came on cinco de mayo which was hectic but sat at the bar to begin and then were able to get a table within 10-15 minutes. I ordered the strawberry jalapeño margarita with tajin and it was perfectly sweet and spicy. My boyfriend ordered the perfect Cadillac margarita and loved how refreshing it was. We ordered the special Al pastor tacos to start which were delicious I wish it came with more than 3 tacos. For our meals I had the enchiladas verdes as that's always my favorite meal and you can't go wrong with a classic. The chicken was tender and well seasoned inside the enchiladas. The chimichangas were delicious they were entirely eaten with no leftovers! Pricking is fair and they prefer cash to credit card with a slightly cheaper price as well. It is a much smaller restaurant but cozy and inviting. Parking is street parking in suffern and it's either hit or miss getting a spot. read more

Our go to place for Mexican food. Always welcomed by Felipe when we walk in. The atmosphere, food, and drinks ate great!

Great service , atmosphere, and very fresh delicious food. Authentic mole was fantastic . The fresh salsa was also amazing . This is a cozy , classically decorated warm space with rich woods. It was like walking into a speakeasy , I almost didn't want to share the secret . Yes you'll like it, try it then go for a walk down the Main Street to browse the different shops , a comedy venue, or get some fun antiques . Thanks again to the servers and the wonderful welcome. We will be back! read more

I thought it would be better from the reviews posted. Food is edible and nothing to write home about. Service was very good. Ambiance is clearly hole in the wall. Must be a local favorite. read more

They were so nice to accommodate my birthday ressy here!! Went back to grab the same thing I got as last time and again I ate it all! Food is still great!!! Service is a bit slow. And to the other reviewers that say it's quiet..that has not been my experience... it probably is when our large loud party isn't there. read more

Went there for the first time tonight and I was not disappointed! Black bean soup and the vegetarian combo were delicious:

What a great experience! Every time I go to a Mexican restaurant they are always conveniently out of pina coladas, but not tequila sal y limon! It's a nice quiet restaurant with a bar, so no need to byob. They have a large menu but not so overwhelming that you have trouble ordering. We started with the queso fundito, which had great flavor but wasn't greasy. I had the number 3 combination plate and I loved the variety of flavors. Over really great service, with nice staff and good size portions. Can't wait to come back and try more items. Sorry for the poor photos. read more

This place is such a gem! Our waiter, Victor, was really nice and took great care of us for the night! Margs and food were delicious! We went with a group of 4 and everyone loved their meal. We can't wait to go back read more

This was my first visit to Tequila Sal Y Limon. It was a Saturday at 3:35pm. I got off to an inauspicious start since the door was locked. I went around the back in case there was another entrance but encountered the chef which would indicate the business should be open. I tried it again 5 minutes later and made it inside. I took a seat at the bar. I ordered the burritos with chicken. I expected something basic, handheld and portable but I received a full plate saucy delight including beans and rice. I enjoyed my meal while watching ESPN on the television and oddly enough listening to a classical version of Metallica's "One." My meal was delicious as I ate every grain of rice and every chip. read more

Freshest guacamole I've found in the area. Always delicious and quick takeout. Been going here for years.

I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT!!! I've been coming for years with friends and family and I've never been disappointed. The service is great, the food is great and the Margaritas are FANTASTIC!!! I'm in love with the Strawberry Jalapeño Margarita, the Camerones Tequila is my go to entree and ceviche de cameron is so good that I usually order two to take home with me (every time!)! Awesome atmosphere, super cozy, family friendly and an amazing staff! You'll thank me later! read more

Hey, just checking in. Stopped in around 5:30 on a Wednesday night and place was empty but seemingly ready for the busy rush. Guacamole was spot on!! Entrees were good and drinks were tasty They give you a complimentary shot with your bill...its not to keep you buzzed as you ponder the costs, no, the costs were inline and it capped off a nice night. I will be back read more

Food was ok, mediocre at best. I received the wrong food. Waiter took the order correctly, kitchen delivered the wrong food. Time was an issue, so I ate what I was served. Service from the waiter was attentive but not excessive. read more

Food was really good. Place is small but the service was still very good even walking in with a table of 9 with no reservations.

Terrible food. Our server Victor was rude bordering on insulting. I wanted to order the Guacamole but the chips and salsa had no salt and seemed stale. When I asked if he could give us some salted chips, he picked up the salt shaker and said, "use this" The enchalda platter was served 45 seconds from when ordered and was, of course, served at a cool temperature. The chicken was watery as was the cold rice, flavors were bland at best. The sangria was fabulous. read more

Tequila Sal Y Limon - Complimentary drink after dinner - Mexican Near Me - Suffern, New York

Mexican food is Mexican food, and this place is good for standard Mexican food. The location is on a corner with a sign out front that I did not see right away. There is parking across the street in the commuter lot for convenience. Directly inside is a bar with six barstools leading into a small dining area. The decor is colorful yet simple. I ordered the Horny Margarita (the difference is a splash of cranberry juice) which was refreshing. We were hungry so we delved into the complimentary warm chips and salsa. For appetizers we got the Guacamole (which needed some salt) and the Queso Fundido. We asked for the Queso Fundido to be cooked well done, giving the top layer of cheese a nice crisp, and extra Mexican sausage. This was probably my favorite dish of the meal (also tastes good when you add some guacamole to it in the provided small tortillas). For my entree I ordered the enchiladas verdes, similar presentation to other Mexican restaurants, and which I felt could have also been a little more well done. I was told to try their Ceviche de Comaron with real crabmeat instead of imitation. So it looks like I will have to return, and update my review! read more

Tequila Sal Y Limon - Queso Fundido - ask for it well done! - Mexican Near Me - Suffern, New York

Came across this spot after hiking nearby and the food and drinks did not disappoint. Parking across the street is convenient. We were greeted quickly and the bartender was also our server. We had the Strawberry Jalepeño Margarita (not overly sweet and had a nice kick) and the bf had the Perfect Cadillac Marg--both were tasty! Their complimentary chips and salsa were good and we ordered Guac to start (fresh made and sizeable portion--needed more salt/lime for my taste). I had the combo with Chicken Chimichanga, Enchilada Verde and Beef Flauta (this comes with refried beans and rice). All were delicious and the portion is large (had half the plate to take home). The bf has a Chicken Quesdilla--good, no complaints. Service was attentive and the experience was solid. read more

Truly one of the best, Mexican restaurants around, especially in Rockland. The service is great as it is family owned and they all really care about how everything is presented. I have a nice rapport with the people who work there over the years. Highly recommend it. It is o a superb Mexican restaurant. read more

Decent Mexican food. The sangria is actually delish and well made! Only one guy working the bar so this dude had some awesome skills with a packed house. It is a small restaurant, so we waited about 25 minutes for our table at the bar, luckily we got a seat but a lot of folks were standing. We got the shrimp fajitas and some guacamole. The sauce used on the fajitas was pretty good. Guac could have used some type of extra seasoning like garlic or salt. Overall, a decent spot for Mexican. read more

Love this place. Food is excellent, decor is very nice and looks clean. Only negative is their hours are not consistent and when I call to check if they are open the phone rings and rings. A message with the current hours they are open would be great. read more

I was super excited to go here for my birthday. The chips were great and I thought it was a good sign for the start of a good meal. Has become our go to for local Mexican. Large portions of home made food and a nice selection of tequilas. The host and employees are friendly and attentive. My husband and I have lived in the area for many years and and this is the first time we tried this restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised and will make this our go-to place for Mexican in Suffern. This is my favorite place for wonderful Mexican food all made from scratch like sitting in Tia's kitchen. The longtime Manager in Suffern location is the most hospitable man on the planet. He treats you like you are in his home. We had a late lunch complete with cranberry vodka margaritas, scrumptious guacamole and fresh tortilla chips followed by a superb taquito plate for me and chicken burrito for my friend. I couldn't decide chicken or shredded beef in my Taquito so he graciously offered to make me one of each. Such a lovely meal! read more

Solid Mexican food but nothing stand out. The chips and salsa are nice I ordered a mango margarita which was quite delicious! For appetizer the Queso Fundido was a little greasy, but it's cheese :-) and very tasty with the sausage. For entrees we got burritos (one chicken, one shredded beef) and chili rellenos (one beef, one chicken). This was a lot of food for two, and we took some home. Both were tasty but needed a bit more zip. Order a side of hot sauce. We had the place to ourselves on a Monday at 5pm but were joined later by two other tables. There are two other Mexican places within like a quarter-to-half mile radius so perhaps a bit much for Suffern? I would eat here again, but am likely to try one of the other places if we're ever back in the area. read more
