Tequila Sal y Limon is always a great option whether for lunch or dinner you will have a great meal. We came on cinco de mayo which was hectic but sat at the bar to begin and then were able to get a table within 10-15 minutes. I ordered the strawberry jalapeño margarita with tajin and it was perfectly sweet and spicy. My boyfriend ordered the perfect Cadillac margarita and loved how refreshing it was. We ordered the special Al pastor tacos to start which were delicious I wish it came with more than 3 tacos. For our meals I had the enchiladas verdes as that's always my favorite meal and you can't go wrong with a classic. The chicken was tender and well seasoned inside the enchiladas. The chimichangas were delicious they were entirely eaten with no leftovers! Pricking is fair and they prefer cash to credit card with a slightly cheaper price as well. It is a much smaller restaurant but cozy and inviting. Parking is street parking in suffern and it's either hit or miss getting a spot. read more

Great service , atmosphere, and very fresh delicious food. Authentic mole was fantastic . The fresh salsa was also amazing . This is a cozy , classically decorated warm space with rich woods. It was like walking into a speakeasy , I almost didn't want to share the secret . What a great experience! Every time I go to a Mexican restaurant they are always conveniently out of pina coladas, but not tequila sal y limon! It's a nice quiet restaurant with a bar, so no need to byob. They have a large menu but not so overwhelming that you have trouble ordering. We started with the queso fundito, which had great flavor but wasn't greasy. I had the number 3 combination plate and I loved the variety of flavors. This was my first visit to Tequila Sal Y Limon. It was a Saturday at 3:35pm. I got off to an inauspicious start since the door was locked. I went around the back in case there was another entrance but encountered the chef which would indicate the business should be open. I tried it again 5 minutes later and made it inside. I took a seat at the bar. I ordered the burritos with chicken. I expected something basic, handheld and portable but I received a full plate saucy delight including beans and rice. I enjoyed my meal while watching ESPN on the television and oddly enough listening to a classical version of Metallica's "One." Terrible food. Our server Victor was rude bordering on insulting. I wanted to order the Guacamole but the chips and salsa had no salt and seemed stale. When I asked if he could give us some salted chips, he picked up the salt shaker and said, "use this" The enchalda platter was served 45 seconds from when ordered and was, of course, served at a cool temperature. Mexican food is Mexican food, and this place is good for standard Mexican food. The location is on a corner with a sign out front that I did not see right away. There is parking across the street in the commuter lot for convenience. Directly inside is a bar with six barstools leading into a small dining area. The decor is colorful yet simple. I ordered the Horny Margarita (the difference is a splash of cranberry juice) which was refreshing. We were hungry so we delved into the complimentary warm chips and salsa. For appetizers we got the Guacamole (which needed some salt) and the Queso Fundido. We asked for the Queso Fundido to be cooked well done, giving the top layer of cheese a nice crisp, and extra Mexican sausage. This was probably my favorite dish of the meal (also tastes good when you add some guacamole to it in the provided small tortillas). For my entree I ordered the enchiladas verdes, similar presentation to other Mexican restaurants, and which I felt could have also been a little more well done. I was told to try their Ceviche de Comaron with real crabmeat instead of imitation. So it looks like I will have to return, and update my review! read more

Came across this spot after hiking nearby and the food and drinks did not disappoint. Parking across the street is convenient. We were greeted quickly and the bartender was also our server. We had the Strawberry Jalepeño Margarita (not overly sweet and had a nice kick) and the bf had the Perfect Cadillac Marg--both were tasty! Their complimentary chips and salsa were good and we ordered Guac to start (fresh made and sizeable portion--needed more salt/lime for my taste). I had the combo with Chicken Chimichanga, Enchilada Verde and Beef Flauta (this comes with refried beans and rice). All were delicious and the portion is large (had half the plate to take home). It is a small restaurant, so we waited about 25 minutes for our table at the bar, luckily we got a seat but a lot of folks were standing. We got the shrimp fajitas and some guacamole. This is my favorite place for wonderful Mexican food all made from scratch like sitting in Tia's kitchen. The longtime Manager in Suffern location is the most hospitable man on the planet. He treats you like you are in his home. We had a late lunch complete with cranberry vodka margaritas, scrumptious guacamole and fresh tortilla chips followed by a superb taquito plate for me and chicken burrito for my friend. Solid Mexican food but nothing stand out. The chips and salsa are nice I ordered a mango margarita which was quite delicious! For appetizer the Queso Fundido was a little greasy, but it's cheese :-) and very tasty with the sausage. For entrees we got burritos (one chicken, one shredded beef) and chili rellenos (one beef, one chicken). This was a lot of food for two, and we took some home. Both were tasty but needed a bit more zip. Order a side of hot sauce. We had the place to ourselves on a Monday at 5pm but were joined later by two other tables. There are two other Mexican places within like a quarter-to-half mile radius so perhaps a bit much for Suffern? I would eat here again, but am likely to try one of the other places if we're ever back in the area. read more
