Chicken nachos

Have not been here in years, but decided to come back for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised at the attentiveness of the staff. From the minute we sat down they were right there supporting with the menu and providing drinks. Homemade guacamole made table side was so good that we got a second portion. I also really enjoyed the shrimp tacos, but felt like they needed some extra. Same goes for the other lunch taco meals. They were okay but needed a little something more. Maybe rice or beans? The decor is fitting for a Mexican restaurant. We did have some challenges with parking, but if you are open to walking there's a lot in the back that is open for parking for the street.

I have been coming here for years and it always is a great time and outstanding meal. Whether it's a group outing, coming with family, or date night you will be more than satisfied. Service is fast even on the most crowded days in the restaurant. You are seated and provided menus and immediately brought housemate chips and salsa that they will refill throughout your meal. Appetizers we get jalapeños rellenos and ceviche and they are always fresh and flavorful. I personally switch between enchiladas verde and tacos de camaron. The chimichangas here are a great portion and filling, not to mention you will almost always have leftovers to take home because you will be full. The fajitas portions can easily be split between two people as it is quite a lot. Desserts are good here we are usually too full to even make it to dessert. Drinks are fantastic the margarita pitchers are a great deal. Parking is easy as there is the full lot behind the restaurant as well as parallel street parking in front of the restaurant, but that can be a bit chaotic depending on the day.

Asked for No peppers

Their salsa is very good. Other than that they are sub par when taking orders. Ordered the fish tacos with NO peppers. Came with a massive amount of peppers.

Horcata, tamarindo, Jamaica

We ordered our usual - assorted tacos , horcata, tamarindo Jamaica, chicken casadia, guac and chips ( spicy) We had someone play Mexican song in each table. They have a decent size outdoor seating area and also parking. We will be back.

This is some of the best Mexican food I've seen as an American. Then make the guacamole, completely fresh and the food is amazing here not to mention all the drink options they have the service was great, and the people that worked here are very kind. And the atmosphere is authentic and lively. Today I came. There is a mariachi is playing in the aesthetic is amazing looking like a real Mexican casa

Cool little spot. Fantastic food, made fast with a giant bag of chips too. I got takeout but I'm told dining in is better.

El Azteca. The Aztec. A civilization which rose to and held power for centuries. Their leadership,…read morein some indirect fashion, has led to the craftsmanship of El Azteca - A slight chain of Mexican restaurants in a 30 min radius of Bergen County. I will copy and paste this review across the Park Ridge and Mahwah locations so emphasize my appreciate for their consistency in providing great Mexican food. If you are consistently performing, Linguini will take care of you. Like I've taken care of many others. I will bring you to the top with me. If you backstab me. Oh if you come for me at the top, you will reach an abyss so deep you may end up digging to China. Don't test me. I'm not that guy. Anyways, I've tried a lot from Azteca. Most of what they've got is a 4/4.5 out of 5 but I'm rounding up for the full experience. Phenomenal price point. Variety of food that all comes out well. Performs well in restaurant and when the food travels. Friendly staff. And local business of which I support. I suffer from GGS - Good Guy Syndrome, sorry not sorry. My motha, bless her soul. I legit mean bless her soul. Be nice. Pray. Bow down to her. She doesn't eat much food but she even loved the taco salad here so much that she asked to go again. So much protein, so well seasoned. Just as their other options showcase as well. My personal favs are the Kash Burrito and the, what I'd call "trademark" Cod Burrito. Never have seen it elsewhere like this. The wrap is toasted wonderfully, great rice, great salsa. I mean this place just does it real well. I've had tacos, appetizers, desserts. Never let down. El Azteca is consistently good. Constantly pushing out quality product. Is it the best Mexican I've had? No. But it's the most underrated. Being a consistent 4, makes you a five in my books. It's like that girl that's occasionally a 6 or occasionally an 9... you can't bring her home. But that girl that's consistently a 7 or an 8? You let her meet the fam. I don't where I'm going with this one. All I'll say is STOP. Stop going to Chipotle, Bubbakoo's, etc. when you could be supporting a better quality and friendlier priced location in El Azteca. Thank you in advance. I will be watching - LB.

We immediately ordered four margaritas, which were good, just not the best ones I've ever had. For appetizers we all split the cheese empanadas, which were actually pretty amazing in my opinion. The portions were pretty generous, so all of us were able to have about 1.5 empanadas. The empanadas were served with red and green sauce, the red sauce is SPICY so be aware! For main course, I ordered the vegetarian chimichanga which I LOVED. It was so good and it tasted freshly made. Overall, was very happy with my experience here. I took the train up one day, but unfortunately I didn't revisit the town for another 17 years. My Mexican House was a random stop that turned out to be great. I've always been into tacos and in recent years gained a nearly dangerous fascination with cemitas, and a result I may have missed out on many great Mexican entrees over the years. In the chuleta a la diabla, the pork chops were perfectly done and the sauce was an awesome incendiary concoction somewhat like mole. The chips were warm and fresh, the salsa was zingy and the service was outstanding.

The burrito was a good size but not huge by any means. When you order a burrito it does come with rice and re-fried beans on the side (more of a platter than a single item). Great burrito, chicken was awesome but minimalist with just whatever meat you order, lettuce, and guac inside. - Got a side of guacamole and oh boy was that the ride decision! SO creamy and the chips were very fresh, seemed house made (can't verify that though). - HOT sauce was HOT. I like spicy and even their salsa verde was on the spicy side. If you don't like spicy stay away from either. The salsa roja was even hotter but both are aboslutely delicious. Again, I like heat so I was very happy sitting there with my nose dripping and forehead sweating but even by my standards it was hot, not "very hot" but def. not just "kind of hot" either. Def. going back and trying other items aside from just the burritos. It's small inside and street parking can be annoying in Suffern on the weekends but def. a great spot to grab a bite even if you're in a bit of a hurry. My order was ready under 15 min, didn't notice if they deliver but I wouldn't be surprised if they do.

I started with a glass of the red sangria (which was perfect) and my friends and I shared an appetizer of guac, nachos, chicken chimichangas, and flautas - definitely enough for 3-4 people! We were extremely impressed with the appetizers and couldn't get enough of the guac (which says A LOT considering none of us are big guac lovers!). I had the stuffed strip steak which was cooked to perfection. The dish is served with mushrooms, peppers, and a tomato sauce on top, along with refried beans and rice. You are definitely getting your moneys worth with the portions. My friends got the enchiladas and fajitas, which were both just as phenomenal. The service was very attentive and the decor was gorgeous. Bright blue walls with unique artwork everywhere. Dimly lit with a cool vibe. We dined to the sounds of the Gypsy Kings, which I could never complain about. This place is definitely great for lunch, dinner, a date, or a social gathering. I can't wait to go back!

If our drinks had any alcohol in them, I couldn't taste it and I felt totally sober after drinking half a pitcher of margaritas. It was pretty good, which makes me think they poured it out of a jar. I will never go back here, and if you've never been, do yourself a favor and go to Taco Bell instead.

The food is still great. We had scallops, chorizo, brussels sprouts, and a flounder ceviche special. Everything was delicious. The ceviche in particular stood out -- fresh, well-portioned, and nicely "cooked" in lime juice. The sangria is still a highlight too. A big carafe, no ice watering it down, served with glasses full of fruit. The problem is the service. They had two servers and one bus person, and it showed. Everyone seemed to be scrambling, and it was hard to get a moment of attention to ask for anything or even be heard. Our food came out in pieces -- three items, then a long delay, then another. The last dish, calamari, never came. When I tried to tell the waiter we didn't want it anymore if it was forgotten, he didn't listen and insisted on bringing it anyway. We ended up waiting even longer, which just made the experience more frustrating. To top it off, they're now adding an operating/service fee (around 3-4%), which wasn't clearly communicated and just showed up on the bill. It's disappointing because the food is still very good, but the service issues -- and now the added fees -- are taking away from the experience. After this visit, we'll think twice before coming back.
