    Bistec a la Mexicana
    Michael Z.

Ok for a lunch spot. Ordered the Bistec a la Mexicana, a dish I have had many times before at fancier places. This was very reasonably priced, so I wasn't expecting much, but I did get what I paid for. The steak was pre-sliced and very thin, which is how they had it cooked for me so fast, and was over a bed of cooked onions and peppers that was fresh and flavorful, but was extremely greasy, a lot of oil left on the plate from those onions. The rice and beans were served in a shallow layer on the plate, but flavorful. For the price, this could almost be a 4-star experience, but they charge a profitable extra surcharge for using credit cards, a practice that is illegal in the neighboring NY state and should be here as well.

Good addition to Main Street in Ramsey. Had the beef burrito which was very good. Guacamole was a little on the runny side. Good salad options. Will definitely be back.

Good Mexican restaurant. Limited seating . Enjoyed my steak fajitas . Expect 39 minutes for takeout orders. Street parking.

El Azteca. The Aztec. A civilization which rose to and held power for centuries. Their leadership,…read morein some indirect fashion, has led to the craftsmanship of El Azteca - A slight chain of Mexican restaurants in a 30 min radius of Bergen County. I will copy and paste this review across the Park Ridge and Mahwah locations so emphasize my appreciate for their consistency in providing great Mexican food. If you are consistently performing, Linguini will take care of you. Like I've taken care of many others. I will bring you to the top with me. If you backstab me. Oh if you come for me at the top, you will reach an abyss so deep you may end up digging to China. Don't test me. I'm not that guy. Anyways, I've tried a lot from Azteca. Most of what they've got is a 4/4.5 out of 5 but I'm rounding up for the full experience. Phenomenal price point. Variety of food that all comes out well. Performs well in restaurant and when the food travels. Friendly staff. And local business of which I support. I suffer from GGS - Good Guy Syndrome, sorry not sorry. My motha, bless her soul. I legit mean bless her soul. Be nice. Pray. Bow down to her. She doesn't eat much food but she even loved the taco salad here so much that she asked to go again. So much protein, so well seasoned. Just as their other options showcase as well. My personal favs are the Kash Burrito and the, what I'd call "trademark" Cod Burrito. Never have seen it elsewhere like this. The wrap is toasted wonderfully, great rice, great salsa. I mean this place just does it real well. I've had tacos, appetizers, desserts. Never let down. El Azteca is consistently good. Constantly pushing out quality product. Is it the best Mexican I've had? No. But it's the most underrated. Being a consistent 4, makes you a five in my books. It's like that girl that's occasionally a 6 or occasionally an 9... you can't bring her home. But that girl that's consistently a 7 or an 8? You let her meet the fam. I don't where I'm going with this one. All I'll say is STOP. Stop going to Chipotle, Bubbakoo's, etc. when you could be supporting a better quality and friendlier priced location in El Azteca. Thank you in advance. I will be watching - LB.

Service was quiet but nice, nothing to complain about. You order at the counter and then take a seat. The menu consists of tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos, salads and more (plus a kids menu); portions aren't huge and prices range from $10-16. Tacos and burritos come in different varieties and with chips and salsa. I got the soft corn veggie tacos, which came with two. A little spicy though not super flavorful or stuffed. The mad dog burrito which is a mixture of chicken and beef was pretty good though not super hot. The quesadillas are a few dollars more expensive and come in a 10 inch tortilla so perhaps it's more filling. They also advertise family taco night food. Only one other person came in while we were dining in on a Sunday afternoon. Pay cash to avoid a the credit card fee. It's connected to a Burger place, which also had no customers. I took the train up one day, but unfortunately I didn't revisit the town for another 17 years. My Mexican House was a random stop that turned out to be great. I've always been into tacos and in recent years gained a nearly dangerous fascination with cemitas, and a result I may have missed out on many great Mexican entrees over the years. In the chuleta a la diabla, the pork chops were perfectly done and the sauce was an awesome incendiary concoction somewhat like mole. The chips were warm and fresh, the salsa was zingy and the service was outstanding.

We immediately ordered four margaritas, which were good, just not the best ones I've ever had. For appetizers we all split the cheese empanadas, which were actually pretty amazing in my opinion. The portions were pretty generous, so all of us were able to have about 1.5 empanadas. The empanadas were served with red and green sauce, the red sauce is SPICY so be aware! For main course, I ordered the vegetarian chimichanga which I LOVED. It was so good and it tasted freshly made. Overall, was very happy with my experience here. Its not the fanciest restaurant but it was perfect for national margarita day!

They serve mocktail margaritas for $10 and we went to the liquor store next door for tequila and then poured it into the drinks ourselves. They even give you shot glasses to pour it into. The mocktail is pretty sour though and not very flavorful, mine was strawberry basil but didn't really taste like strawberry or basil. Small seating area, backs of chairs kept bumping into each other and it's hard to walk to your seat when the place is busy. Also the tables are uneven. One table was slanting to the side a lot. The guacamole and the calamari apps were great. Big portions and delicious. Guac was very fresh and well seasoned, the calamari I loved how big the pieces were, super tender and had a spicy sauce with it that had sautéed almonds which added a nice crunch. And lots of shishito peppers on top. The entrees were average. They got the temperature wrong for my hanger steak. It was still tender and juicy but I didn't like the green sauce on it. Which was spicy and vinegary. The potatoes added nothing to the dish in terms of flavor or texture, I barely ate them. The tomato and avocado salad was good, light and tasty. They served it with corn tortillas but the tortillas are very gooey and bland. My husband liked his scallop tacos a lot. I tried one of his mushroom tacos and didn't like it. Again lots of vinegar, and also it wasn't all mushrooms it had peppers and leeks in it. The desserts were pricey at $12 and pretty average. Nothing special. The churros were dry. I give this place a 4 because I loved their apps and it has a nice vibe despite being cramped. And wait service was professional and friendly.
