I was really surprised at how good the food was here. When you come up on it, it looks like a hole in the wall joint. But we all know that's where you usually find the best barbecue and this place was no different. The sausage was the high point for me. This evening I had a hankering for some barbecue and wanted to try a new restaurant, so I placed on order through WAITR. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich, which was really good, except it was missing the onions and pickles. Additionally ordered the Jumbo Fried Shrimp with a side of potato salad and a side of pinto beans, both of which were not delivered. Instead of the two sides they sent me green beans. Unfortunately, the six Jumbo Shrimp were fairly minuscule and severely overcooked. I called the restaurant and asked to speak with the manager and the person that answered stated she was a server and could assist us. The server apologized for the order but stated that there was nothing she could do as we ordered through WAITR. Thought that this was strange as they prepared the food which WAITR picked up and delivered. When I contacted WAITR they were very helpful and apologetic for the order and refunded me for the sandwich and the Jumbo Shrimp Plate. I will definitely reorder from WAITR, but am reluctant to give Backyard BBQ another opportunity to mess up order. read more

This places good!!!!went there for second time and it was better than the first. I will say that I personally like the meat better at Millers but the atmosphere is better here. First off the onion rings are to die for. I love hand dipped onion rings and they put their rub on them and they are hot, crunchy, and ver tasty. I had the bubba tater and as other people have noted it is damn good. Big meal, very tasty, and just good. The best thing is the rustic atmosphere and the byob. You're more than welcome to bring our own cooler or six pack and chill and eat. Overall, very good place that is kid friendly that I'll begging back to. Also when you leave or get there look around there were about 10-15 deer just eating, running, and watching. Very cool for the kids tosee! read more

If you are looking for great BBQ that won't break your bank, then this is the place for you. Don't let the affordable prices fool you, their portions are very generous. Coupled with the laid back atmosphere, you will be back for more. I highly recommend the Redneck Burrito which is 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 pounds of eye popping, stomach filling goodness. Don't stop there though because their Bubba Tater is the only stuffed baked potato that I will eat let alone finish. I am working on the rest of the menu and hope that you will try for yourself. Bad experience--twice. Sunday-Aug 30. We were celebrating a bday, but due to COVID, ordered in advance and was told food would be ready in 15-20 min. Traveled from S 5th st in Temple, which is about 20 min away. Pulled up to side window w/ 2 cars in front of us. The 2nd car apparently ordered at the window and put their car in park. After about 20 min, I sent my daughter inside to pickup our food. After waiting 25 min for the person in front of us to get their food, I approached the window. I advised the attendant I was upset and questioned the window use. I assumed the window was for pickup. (I was stuck in the line with 6 cars behind me) The attendant got the manager. He advised they were not allowed to have a customer move aside when ordering from the window. I told him my food was probably cold. He stated they were short handed, yet 2 other young ladies were standing there listening to what was being said. He stated he understood my frustration, but was unapologetic. I told him the last time I ordered w/ the Waiter app, my order was incorrect. The food is usually very good, but I would not order again. I drove around to the front to p/up my daughter. She had not come out. I texted her to be advised the food still was not ready. When she came out (10-15 min later) she checked the order, which was missing a kid's meal. She returned and got the meal. None of this order was complicated (BBQ chopped sandwiches, bubba tater and onion rings). Very unorganized. The food overall was good, except the onion rings--cold and greasy. Trying to support local home-based businesses. Won't return ANY time soon. read more

They expanded dining area a year or so ago. Very nice. Food quality stayed very good. Their waitresses are always very friendly and helpful. We still like the variety of food. Plenty of good food offered besides BBQ. Their Bob Thompson burger....in my Top 10 burgers ever list. It's huge thou. Cut in half and split it with a friend. Or not. This place is awesome! When we came in there was a line of 20-30 people and we were still seated with in a timely manner. We sat at the bar and Ryan was the bar tender on duty. He was slam packed as was the whole place but he was still very quick and attentive. We ordered a popper appetizer and cheese sticks they both came out quick, and perfectly cooked. My wife order the super cheesy with bubba fries and she says it was the best burger she has had from here. I ordered the big hoss with chicken and it was cooked to perfection not to much of one thing or the other not dry or soggy just perfect. We usually hit up Backyard BBQ now when we want BBQ in the Belton area instead of another bigger establishment which has left us unsatisfied. Brisket is always exceptional, portions are great, and service is always friendly and somewhat fast. Decent bang for the buck. Recommend for a good BBQ experience. Pretty great overall. The banana pudding is AMAZING. It's light and fluffy. I couldn't rave more. The BBQ is pretty good overall. This is the best place ever! One year on a Sunday was going to the crawfish place behind it and it's closed on a Sunday. Found Backyard BBQ and tried it out. Been coming here ever since. Even got my daughters boyfriend hooked on it. We can't get enough! The only thing is EVERY single time we go there they are out of banana pudding. Since they have started doing that and it has been a while. We have not even tried it once. They never have it. I'm truly upset and disappointed. I haven't had a dessert out there. But, really, this place is truly the best I've had. Every other place around here isn't anywhere near BBQ like this place! First time here they were amazing, second time dry, third time( I did go back) dry, 4th time I got Bubba tater asked no sour cream extra side of Ranch dressing(order was to go) got home and no dressing! Meat is dry and hardly any Bbq sauce that it comes with per the menu!!!! Clearly 4 times I'm out! Lesson learned one more trip TOO LATE! read more
