This review is long overdue and I apologize to Colin and the folks at Bacchus for not posting sooner. I live about 30 minutes north of Sacramento and went to visit family in Morgan Hill on Christmas day 2013. En route my 2003 Range Rover suddenly loses power and we breakdown on 680 South just past Bernal. Huge proponents of Yelp* the wife and I immediately do a search of the nearby businesses hoping to find a local independent auto mechanic to service our car and lucky for us Bacchus British Services (BBS) comes up with some of the best reviews in the area. We tow our car to BBS knowing that we'd most likely be contacted the next day (keep in mind that this is 3pm or so Christmas day). Anyway, the wife and I are a nervous wreck in anticipation of the coming news for our vehicle. As some people may know, simply changing the wiper blades on a Land Rover/Range Rover can easily break the bank, and let's not get into the cost of genuine parts... Sheesh! So we get a call from Colin who confirms receipt of our vehicle and inquires about the problem. We explain the situation and he promises to call back once they've identified the issue and that the cost for this diagnostic check would be in the $100+ range (no biggie - as this would be applied to the cost of the work too). Shortly thereafter I receive a phone call and my heart is about to explode out of my chest because I'm waiting for Colin to say those magic words "you need a new transmission and its going to be about $4000 or so not including labor." Instead, Colin explains that they've identified some type of issue with the front differential. Seems like "good news" so far... Then Colin gave me the best news of all. The root cause of this issue is something that was covered under a manufacturer's recall and it could be fixed by the dealer at absolutely no cost!!! I was certainly pleased with this news but the best part was that Colin was also kind enough to waive the diagnostic fee which he was certainly entitled to. Now, sure this was Christmas and some people reading this may be thinking "well I'm sure they'd be nice to me too if this happened to me during Christmas... It's the season of giving for crying out loud" and this is true... but, throughout the whole process BBS was very kind, professional and reasonable. They were timely in contacting me early the day after Christmas, where as some businesses may wait until late in the day, even the afternoon, to call causing me to be without my vehicle for an additional day. Oh, and did I mention this is the only vehicle that can fit me the wife and our two sons? So having this car back lickety split is mucho importante. They were also kind enough to do a little research on my issue to find out that it was covered under manufacturer's recall which they didn't have to do. They could have easily quoted me a price and left it at that. I mean, I live 2 hours away, would the average consumer have spent the time to get a second opinion, possibly incurring another diagnostic fee? Would the average consumer even be knowledgeable enough to explain the situation let alone drive my 2 hours to meet the vehicle and arrange to have it towed to another mechanic because remember, the car was completely immobilized. In the words of Sweet Brown... "Ain't nobody got time for that!" So it is with great respect and gratitude that I highly recommend Bacchus British Services for any of your automotive needs. To be quite honest, I'm considering driving the 2 hours for my future maintenance just because I know they're a trustworthy business. I mean, can you really put a price on peace of mind... Thanks BBS and thanks Colin for your time and trouble. It is greatly appreciated.
P.S. Bacchus British Services is right next door to another independent auto mechanic European Motowerkes. I don't know much about them but make sure not to get them confused as they pretty much share the same building. read more
