Took my Karman Ghia in for a gas oder . Consultation with Will on options. Also check oil leak . While check for oil leak he found a lifter and rocker arm issue and valve issue that could of left me in BIG TROUBLE . He dropped the engine removed the heads replaced valve fixed rocker. Consulted with me on every step and options. Being I lived close I was able to drop by and see exactly what was going on . This is my second time using his service. I would never m take my vw here again and you shouldn't either. I had a horrible experience. I actually feel like I can take this to court but I won't because I don't have energy and the time. When you continue to do faulty business it's your reputation. I bring my car in and ask to get something fixed and he brings it back broken and said he can't fix it and now I'm left paying. First off was recommended from a "friend" I was low on funds and asked if I could pay in groceries, (yes it was that bad)She agreed and also asked me to work a full day at her shop moving heavy furniture upstairs, and arranging heavy glass for her. I said yes. She showed me the part that I needed to get fixed and O2 sensor, she just ordered it. She took off the tire on my car. Her "ass"istant Wheel "pretended" to put the sensor on and told me the check engine light was going to go on again. Some lame story about how it needed to be reset. Then she returned the O2 sensor. Leaving me with a problem never fixed, thinking I wouldn't catch on!!!But I was curious about the check engine light and took it too Kragen auto where they scanned it and said the problem still there. He fixed everything that was planned, and we addressed a couple other times along the way. Labor and parts were all reasonably priced and Will took a lot of pride in his quality of work. My engine is beautiful and the vehicle is running great. I've been driving it for about 10 days since I got it back and everything is great. These guys went above and beyond to help me during a weekend emergency: something was rattling and clunking, and I just happened to be driving around looking for breakfast on a Saturday. Completely by chance, one of the employees flagged me around from the front parking lot to the back service entrance - they were not open, but they were present and curious about what my car's woes were. Lucky as it turns out the clunking noise was all four bolts of one of my disc brake calipers being loose! They addressed that, and even tightened my king & link pins. I was back up and running in less than 2 hours, and they even gave me a lift to meet up with my family while the car was being serviced! Remember, of this outside of their m-f hours. I was lucky they made time to help! Truly, the guys at Beetle Power saved my butt and allowed me resume my trip. Plus, they are a very good value. Highly recommend!! I remember Tony, who was great and really cared about his Customers and there cars. This new Owner I think his name is Will, had Open Heart Surgery 2 months ago he told me. I had previously made an appoint for 9:00, I got there and they were nowhere to be found. I waited for 55 minutes, I then went home. About 30 minutes later I get a call No Message just a call. He says to me and I quote "Where you at?" and I told him that i waited for almost an hour. No Apology Nothing. So I bring my car in. And he tells me about his Open Heart Surgery, and that he should be in bed, and basically how much of a favor he is doing for me. I said nothing, he then says he will only charge me for 1 hour of Labor evidently his Labor Charges are $210.00 My Parts were $67.00, Labor was $336.00 it came out to $483. I asked him about it he said he was quoting me on the job at hand which is a line he has probably used a lot and just hopes people will go away. Another thing that is really Sad is the way he acts like he is doing you a favor. I waited 45 minutes for him to open, he never showed up until almost 1 and 1/2 hours after I was scheduled. And then when he was done, I had to wait form my Daughter to get back. He starts giving me a bad time about that saying he had heart surgery 2 months ago etc. This time I had had enough, I said I waited for 1 hour and a 1/2, then he meekishly backs off. He's honest -- Tony will tell you exactly whats going on, and always err on the side of saving you money. He has told me multiple times that something I asked him to do doesn't need to be done yet, that I can wait longer and get more life out of the part. Awesome. He's fairly priced -- There's no overcharging here. When I was initially shopping around for a mechanic for my VW's, he consistently provided me with the most affordable quotes. BEWARE!! I had a car for sale, and this is how I met Bill. Bill ended up buying 2 cars from me. He was a nice guy. We got along great! I was even over at his house to deliver one of the cars he bought from me. We got talking and I found out he is a recent owner of a VW shop. I have 4 VWs, so I thought that Bill and I were going to have a great professional relationship. I thought "this is great, I need a good VW guy" In November I brought Beetle Power a 1960 Transporter pickup to get a new Wolfsburg West wiring harness installed. While the truck was at Beetle Power, they were also doing some rear brake work for me. The front brakes and master cylinder were previously done with new parts. A few weeks after dropping the truck off I got a text letting me know that the truck is "done and the brakes are working great". I made an appointment to pick it up. The day I picked it up I showed up on time to pick the truck up. I was in a great mood because I was getting my truck back :) Bill was very short and rude with me right when I got there. He made me feel very uncomfortable. I paid for my repairs with cash and immediately left as Bill was raising his voice with me and being very short, angry, and grumpy. I felt the best thing to do was leave the situation to avoid any escalation of tempers. This did not seem like the same person I dealt with before!! I was expecting to get a phone call from Bill apologizing for the way he treated me, but I did not hear from Bill again. When I went to use my truck, I noticed the brake pedal is very stiff with absolutely no play. My brake lights were on constantly. After checking out all of the lighting I notice that the left rear taillight does not even work. The right front turn signal does not work either. Turns out my rear brakes are not done correctly and there are a few wiring issues. When I call bill to tell him that I need to get the truck back to Beetle Power to address the problems, Bill hangs up om me. Beetle Power will not answer the phone or text messages. I finally was able to talk to Will. He said the rear brakes were over adjusted and needed to be readjusted. So, I made an appointment with Will to get them adjusted correctly. Again, I put my truck on a trailer and brought it to them again. Will did some adjustments but made no difference. Now he does not want to see me or the truck again even though I have the same issues I have had. Now when I rev up my engine the brake lights come on, if they were not already stuck on...2 issues here Now I have an appointment with Buslab in Berkley to fix what Beetle Power couldn't/wouldn't fix. I have given Beetle Power the opportunity to do the right thing and fix my VW correctly and Will told me to take it to the Buslab. So that right there tells everyone they do not stand behind the work charge you for! I paid them $1500 to have just ti have wiring issues with a brand-new Wolfsburg West harness and brake issues after they did brake work. Also, Bill used to be a customer at Beetle Power before he bought the business just a couple of years ago. Bill is not a mechanic, but Bill was working on my wiring harness, and he has no mechanic certifications whatsoever. He grounded the power wire of my harness while the battery was still connected and did damage to some wires of my brand-new harness! So, you are paying certified mechanic prices and getting a garage mechanic working on your car!! All I wanted is for Beetle Power to fix what they failed to fix the first time and they told me to go elsewhere. Oh, and pay attention to all of those 5 star reviews...They were all before Bill and Will owned it! Ask them when they became owners ;) BEWARE!! read more

I am a Volkswagen hobbyist. Unfortunately, osteoarthritis of the spine makes it difficult and painful for me to do work that involves bending, stooping, lifting and crawling around a car on jackstands. Last Friday, my clutch pedal went to the floor and didn't come back up. These guys fixed my car yesterday. They did an excellent job, the cost was very reasonable, and I was back on the road the same day. Absolutely don't see this man is on DRUGS. I took my Mercedes' . He took my old coolant poured it in and mixed water . Told me car was ready and had me want 3 hours . He asked me to pay cash app and was so drugged up he didn't think I paid him although I did . Cussed and scream and violently attacked me. I finally called cops to leave and noticed my alignment was all messed up and many other problems with suspension which is weird cuz he was fixing a coolant leak and he removed my tires and jacked my alignment up . Tony, the much respected owner for many years has retired. The new owners Will and Bill have taken over and dug in. I brought my Vanagon in to get it tuned and inspected after it had to be adjusted to pass smog at the smog place. Will really seems to know his stuff. He took me through the plan, then texted me photos and updates as he went through everything. The van now runs like a top and pulls like it should. When I picked it up, he pointed our everything he did, and made a list of things I can take care of myself, even gave me some tips on how to do them. The shop was recommended by a tow truck driver. I called to schedule an appointment and advised them of the condition of my car. On the day of the appointment, I called to confirm and was refused service because, "You guys caused a lot of damage to the car." He also claimed he had left me several messages cancelling the appointment which I never received. I do not recommend this shop to anyone unless they need an oil change. SNEAKY!!! The shop went over $1000 over the estimated quote! Not good communication. I was so excited to have my car fixed here but super misleading on the work. This is way/long time overdue, partially because I never partake in Yelping until last year. I have known Tony for a very very long time, 15 yrs or so, and I have had MANY of my VWs (yes, Dub-head here), 5 so far, serviced by him. He's EXTREMELY knowledgeable, especially in VW, but also other cars (cause he complained to me about a Nissan exhaust architecture once!). Someone else mentioned in this Yelp, he's giving away advice he should charge money for. I have experienced the same. He's very fair and fun guy to chat with, especially if you do some work yourself, but at times I insist that he should get the credits for all the advice he gives out for free. I called Tony because the dealership where I normally service my vehicle pointed out several "major" issues that needed to be fixed ASAP. The quote they gave me was very high. Tony's price was reasonable and was very knowledgeable over the phone. When I brought my car in, he only charged me an inspection fee. When I asked why, he told me he wanted to see first hand what was going on before he performed the work. He called me back, as promised, and informed me that the "major" issue was not there and gave me a reasonable price to fix the TRUE issues with my vehicle. So there I was, staring at a $1300 repair estimate from VW of Dublin, when I decide to bring my car to Tony at BP. He gives me better quotes, to be expected from an independent, but more importantly he says "Lets fix this one thing first and check to see if the second thing is really a problem". I asked for specific things to be fixed and he could have easily just replaced everything I asked for but instead he discovered the leak from the head gasket was making it look like the oil pan was leaking, but it wasn't. And the third thing I asked for turned out to be a loose clamp, funny- VW didn't think to just tighten this clamp... So long story short, Tony got my car back on the road for less than $200 and told me the other $1100 wasn't necessary- mostly misdiagnoses. That my friends, is the honesty we all look for in a trusted mechanic. I'm going to bring my other VW to him next week. read more

Tony is THE MAN! He's friendly, fast, extremely helpful and very honest. He has never once tried to feed me any b.s. about my '96 jetta and was more than awesome when my car mysteriously broke down one day. I was driving to friend's place when my car just stopped working. I had gas in it, none of my lights on the dash were on, it just died. I called the previous owner of the car hoping he could shed some light on the situation and he was as dumfounded as me. I called Tony and explained my situation and he was able to fit me in right away! Turns out the throttle body was bad so he was able to replace it. The best part about this bad day was the fact that he did it all that same day so I was without my car for only a few hours and I haven't had a problem since! Again, Tony is THE MAN!!!!! I will only let him work on my car. His pricing is pretty damned good too. $52 for an oil change and inspection whereas another place I called quoted me $90 for the same thing, just across town!
