No doubt Tony is great with old VW's, but he has also done a great job with my current VW's. BP was recommended to me some years back, and I had been happy with the work done, but as my newest VW was under warranty, I had been getting all the service done at the dealership. Recently, when the car was no longer under warranty, I contacted Tony for a repair estimate after the quote I got from the dealership seemed rather high. Tony completed the work in a timely manner, explaining what needed to be done, and pointing out work the dealership quoted that wasn't necessary: I ended up with a bill of about 20% what it would have cost me at the dealership. I've been restoring my '67 VW Beetle and the restoration process has proceeded smoothly thanks to the mechanical skill of Tony Mace of Beetle Power. Tony is a purebred air-cooled dude. He's been fixing VW's since he was a kid in the 70's and he has his eyes alert for potential problems as well as the knowledge of the best solutions. Tony turned the after-market menagerie of my engine into a beautifully restored engine looking like it just came off the Wolfsburg, Germany production line. He added details I hadn't even thought of (for example, there was a wire in the engine compartment that was the wrong color. Tony replaced it with the correct color), and his prices are fair. Owner/Mechanic is very honest and knowledgeable. We have had our son's VW Jetta repaired here several times, and have been very happy with the service. The last time we brought it in for service, the mechanic had ordered a special part. We brought the car in to have the part replaced, but the mechanic called to tell us that he didn't think there was anything wrong with the car, but that there may have been some debris in the gas line instead. Told us that there would be no charge. How often does that happen? He could very easily replaced the part and charged us the $330 that was the estimated charge. We would never have known. Tony the owner is a super nice honest guy that has saved me a lot over going to the VW dealer. He's my go to guy for maintenance and repairs. A few months ago, I had a check engine light come on so I took my car to him, and he immediately hooks up the scanner and tells me it's a common problem that VW will fix for free. He didn't charge me anything for that diagnostic check, and he could have charged me hundreds of dollars to fix the problem. This is why he's an honest and outstanding guy. Even after changing hands years back they still kept the same honest hardworking ethic anyone would want in a garage. They never over sold me and only did what was needed but was not afraid to make sugestions when asked. I wish them a long and profitable time with this shop as there is a need to fill and they have expanded their service areas on different kinds of cars to keep on trucking through todays economy. I had a 59 bug with oil leakage issue. Took it to the famous VW shop in concord 3 times and they could not figure it out. Tony was able to diagnose the problem and solve the issue by replacing the fuel pump & stand. There are only a couple of places that I will trust my car too, and BP Automotive is #1. I learned about Tony from a friend and initially came to him with what turned out to be an unfixable problem. I am kind of a shade tree mechanic that knows enough to perform most of my services and many of my repairs. I have often gone to Tony at BP Automotive for questions and he has graciously given advice and I then proceed. He is extremely knowledgeable and a lot of fun to deal with. I recently went in (with my car) for him to check on a brake light issue. He was swamped with work (as you would expect for such a competent operation) but he finagled me in for what turned out to be a quick fix. With in the hour he called for me to pick up the car. I see others mention, he tried to give away his expertise, he did here as well. I had to insist he take something for the work he did. We have taken our vw and our Toyota to bp automotive for several years now. They have always given us exceptional service with complete honesty. We have never had unnecessary repairs or charges. We had left our car for a check up, possibly for a new clutch, but were set home with out charge. They let us know that we could replace the clutch if we wanted, but that we could continue to drive with our current one awhile longer with no problem. It's been about a year since then and we're still fine. We will continue to take our vehicles to bp automotive. read more

Just did my 80K service at BP and impressed by fast and honest work. BP's price quote by phone was better than the dealer and a nearby vw repair shop, and I was charged less than quoted as there is one less serviceable part for my car than for other models. I wouldn't know that had Tony elected not to tell me. Choose BP because of good yelp reviews and a good previous experience when Tony fixed my headlights connection without charge. It's such a relief to find a honest auto shop that does excellent work for your car! read more
