My sister was raving about this place, so we opted to not grill out and come here for dinner. Their hours are wonky but I promise it's worth it! They are typically open Fri/Sat from 5-9PM for dinner, and sometimes do breakfast from 8AM-10AM on Fri/Sat too. Check their Facebook page for details, Y'all, I was not prepared for this meal. We have lake property about 2 miles from this place (Mistletoe State Park is nearby) and this location used to be a grocery store in the past. So, my expectations were low. We've been coming up this way for 40+ years and never had Southern food that was so good! The place isn't large and maybe 10-12 tables inside. It doesn't look like much from the outside either. Nothing fancy. Even the food is served on paper plates. One tv, turned to football, will greet you walking in. They offer beer and wine here. As for the food, I can say you'll have at least one item here that'll knock your socks off (whether it's a side or entree). For me, it was their green beans and pecan pie with bourbon whip cream. The green beans are made with soy/bacon/brown sugar & are phenomenal! The pecan pie, by itself, was amazing ... but the bourbon whip cream on top made it the best slice I've ever had. You could taste the sweeter side of the bourbon in it. My bbq chicken entree was fall-off-the-bone good, and the roll was darn delicious. The entire party loved the firecracker chicken dip. My sister said the ribeye was the best she's had, and my gf loved her grilled shrimp meal. Our waiter was also funny and fast. Look, this place is worth making a trip to. I know it's hard to trust a couple local's reviews but I can vouch that the locals got it right with 5 stars! I know we'll be back again!

This bbq place is amazing! The restaurant is not big in the inside but pretty roomy. Our server was very friendly, helpful, and attentive. Our ordered came fast, warm, and so delicious. The BBq was fell of the bone, the steak was generous and my son really enjoyed it. I had Salisbury steak with mashed potatoes and green beans, and my daughters had their burgers and mac and cheese. Everything that we ordered including our appetizer (fried pickle and fried mozzarella cheese) were so good and exactly what we need for our dinner that night! Also, we came close to The Masters event so their dessert was dedicated for the masters, which was peach ice cream pie that was mouthwatering amazing ice cream pie! All kids were serve ice cream with chocolate chips cookie or sugar cookie post dinner....jealous! I wish we have this place in Charleston, SC but it will be a good excuse to come back to GA and visit the Mistletoe state park then Baby Jo's !

Food was delicious! Small seating area so get there at 5:00 or you'll have a wait. But worth waiting for. Fast service and excellent waitresses. Our group had the ribeye, Bbq chicken, Salisbury steak, nachos and cheeseburger. Everything was delicious. Prices were not bad!

Such delicious food and great service! Everything is prepared and cooked fresh. The fried pickles and jo Jo's shrimp is delicious! Highly recommend the pork chop (special) ribeye steak or ribs! But honestly everything on the menu is delicious! Super closer to Mistle Toe state park so it's very convenient if camping or coming off the lake. Open Thursday thru Saturday evenings.

Well, I didn't have the green beans or the desserts they are known for - but, what we did have to eat was outstanding!!! While camping - our group usually tries to find a local establishment nearby to the campground to experience some local fare. Since Baby Jo's is on the road leading to the campground we decided to take a chance on it. With rave reviews garnered from the campground hosts we went on a Thursday evening. The staff was professional while adding their local charm. We were seated quickly and the food arrived in a timely manner. The catfish was ordered by 2 in our party along with a pulled pork plate, a salad with grilled chicken (no picture taken - it was on the furtherest end of our table and I wanted to get to the eating part of the night) and I had the grilled shrimp. Sides included side salads, fries, sweet tater soufflé, and their signature smoked Mac & Cheese... No let letdowns here! The portion sizes were just right with some leftovers being brought back to the RV's. The price was spot on for the meals we enjoyed. Needless to say - it we're ever back in this area we'll be back eating at Baby Jo's!!! Remember - Thursday, Friday and Saturday 5-8...

The Australian Wagyu filet mignon (see my pick) is top notch. Cook to order (medium) and soft and delicious. The Australian Wagyu tasting it is very good as well!! They have a valet system, so no worries about parking. Staff have been very professional and friendly, so 5/5 stars for that. I ordered the 8oz filet mignon, medium rare. Steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly! It came with asparagus and mashed potatoes covered in a crispy layer of batter, which all complimented the steak well. I tried their tuna tartare, which had an interesting take on what the tuna was served on. I've always been used to tuna tartare being accommodated with bread, but this was sushi rice compacted and covered in some light batter. Felt like I was eating tuna sushi. Apply some of the sauces it comes with and seriously was fantastic. I also got to try 4oz of their Japanese A5 Wagyu. Super expensive; $80 dollars for four ounces, but worth the experience. You cook the thin pieces over a hot stone and apply some of the seasonings like salt it comes with. I cooked each side for about 30 seconds, sprinkled some salt, and it melted in my mouth! I ended my meal with their carrot cake and it was moist, not overly sweet, and had a great savory taste. I really enjoyed my time here and certainly will be back again. There is a bar and at the back of the restaurant, you can see the baseball field. Restrooms were clean, but only one stall from what I've seen in the men's room. Overall 5/5 steak house experience.

We both order the prime rib, tossed salads and baked potatoes. Prior to our food arriving we were offered bread that came with cinnamon butter, which arriv d warm and was a good addition to our meal. Shortly afterwards our salads came. Before we could really begin to eat our salads the entrees were brought. The quality of our meal was excellent as was our waitress. Our only regret was our failure to request our entrees not to be brought until we had finished our salads. The manager stopped by our table twice to assure we were enjoying our meal which we were indeed. I heartily recommend this venue for a great evening out!

Our food came out quickly, which honestly impressed me considering how packed everything in Athens was that day. My steak did come out at the wrong temperature initially, but the staff handled it really well. They immediately made me a brand new steak and even sent me home with a full to-go meal, which I really appreciated. Mistakes happen, but good customer service is what matters, and they definitely made it right. The food overall was really good. The deviled eggs always hit, the creamed spinach was delicious, and the loaded potato was solid. The corn had a smoky flavor to it that caught me off guard at first, but it was still sweet and flavorful. Overall, great service, good food, and they handled an issue professionally, especially during such a busy graduation weekend.

Nice steakhouse menu, no surprises..all the regulars are there. Opted for the ribeye. All of their steaks come with a choice of potato and the rest of the sides are à la cart. Service was a bit slow but good. Kind of on the smaller side on the interior, but I liked that. Still felt like I had plenty of room with my party. Paid about $330 for party of 5. Everyone enjoyed their meal.

Service: The service was amazing. My server Madison was so sweet to us for graduation and made sure we were well taken care of. When I got the baked Alaska for dessert she redid the flambé because she felt like it wasn't as good as she hoped. I felt like that was over the top great customer service. I also never had to ask for water as the waitstaff always made sure we were topped off. Food: The steaks were fantastic. We got the filet with fries, ribeye with mashed potatoes, rolls, and Brussels sprouts. Steaks were excellent of course and rolls were so soft and fluffy. When I came a year and a half ago, I thought the mashed potatoes were way too buttery and the duck fat Brussels sprouts were way too meaty. This time around the mashed potatoes were perfect and the Brussels sprouts recipe is new as it is a balsamic reduction with Parmesan which were fantastic. Overall this was a great dining experience but definitely a place to come on a nicer occasion or celebration due to price. My entire experience was 10/10 and so sad to be graduating because I don't know the next time I'll be back to Slaters.
