My husband and I went for a date night here last weekend for our first time out in ages! While the atmosphere was very nice and quiet, the food quality was unimpressive. We ordered a charcuterie board and it was diced cheese and pepperoni I could have gotten from the store myself with some pickled vegetables. I was so disappointed in this. I was expecting gourmet cheese and meets with some jellies. The steaks were even more unimpressive and I don't even want to talk about the underdone potatoes they gave me. Went with a party of 20 and was told that the check would have to be one. Everyone in the party brought cash so that it could be divided up equally. The server preceded to call the sheriff as if we did not want to pay. The Sheriff did not find an issue. I'm not sure h I first heard about this place, ,maybe they were taking reservations on OpenTable for a while in the beginning. We found ourselves willing and able for a dinner out on the 23rd, and lucky for us I remembered Bordeaux and that they had a table when we called. It's an easy drive over from Augusta because of the location! You don't have to go all the way into Thomson, as Bordeaux is located just off the interstate at exit 172! They have done a great job creating atmosphere. In addition to the restaurant there is a Barn venue, and seeing the two cohesive buildings as you drive up just gives it a special, more exclusive type feel. The decor inside is well done, clean, modern, upscale farmhouse. There was a bit of a power loss in the kitchen when we arrived, and we were not sure if we would get to eat! This is why I took a star, the hostess and other staff were kind of ignoring us patrons that had come in and were running around frenzied, kind of hollering between themselves. It took several minutes for them to come over and great us and another couple. I was about ready to leave as this behavior did not give me faith in the forthcoming meal. We stayed. We had a great server, Hope. They didn't have a huge selection of wine by the glass, but I found something! My husband had the fried lobster appetizer, and said it was great. He had the hamburger steak for his meal and said it was excellent! I had the lamb, and was a little disappointed. They did a great job on the meal, I just always forget how little you get with lamb for the $$. Sides were simple but well done. Broccolini and mashed potatoes. They make some of the desserts in-house so we had the chocolate lasagna, and it was a nice way to end our meal. We would certainly go back! Me and my family went there for my aunt's birthday. The food was very mideorcere and the food was cold as ice. The service was the worst we waited on our food for 3 hours!!!!! While we were getting the money for our bill the waitress was very rude. And after we paid they called the police on us. The police cleared us of any wrong doing but the police told us that the restaurant did not want us on the premise. Which we laughed at because we did nothing wrong. My husband and I celebrated our 20th anniversary here, it was a first for us. The food was yummy but my steak was a little under cooked for my liking. I ordered my steak medium rare and it came out blue, I ended up just asking for it to go and reheating it at home. It had great flavor, and I'd much rather it be undercooked than overcooked. Between our small plates, salads, and desert I left feeling plenty satisfied. We had a lovely dining experience overall and I'm looking forward to giving them another try soon. read more

Horrible experience... We had heard about the nice restaurant in Thomson and decided to give it a try. We made a reservation for 6:30 and drove the hour to Bordeaux. We arrived early and were immediately seated. I asked our server if we didn't finish a bottle of wine if we could take it with us, or if she could tell us about the first wine on the wine list. She indicated that was "not really a me question". Well, she was a younger server so I didn't think anything about it and tried to enjoy the evening. I then asked her what her favorite item on the menu. She said she really didn't know? We should've departed at that point. Luckily, we had done quite a bit of research on the menu prior to arrival and ordered the salmon and chicken cordon bleu - at 6:35 or so. Our wine came to the table and the bartender accidentally spilled a lot of it on my bread plate and on the table cloth. No problem. It happens. And then we waited. And waited. More tables came in. Some folks who came after us were served food. After an hour, I asked our server if she could check on our food. She came back after about 10 minutes and said the chicken Cordon Bleu would be coming out soon. I inquired if the salmon was also coming out? After another Interlude, she came out and indicated that the kitchen was short staffed, never mind that we have been watching the three people in the kitchen all night working? But at that point, we asked for our check and we left. We paid for a bottle of wine and were offered very few apologies or explanations. You will be sorely disappointed if you try to eat at Bordeaux. I stopped at a table of eight behind me (where a colleague happened to be seated with her family) and advised we had waited for over an hour and were leaving. They were also completely disgusted. We left Bordeaux, weighed our options, and 12 minutes later rolled through the Wendy's in Thomson, and actually were served food! Hit Wendy's first - you'll be a lot happier and you won't be charged for a bottle of wine that you did not get to enjoy with a meal. This is one of the worst experiences I've ever had in what was deemed as a fine dining establishment. read more

We just found a hidden gem! Off the main strip, I wasn't sure because of the signage but you turn and keep going about 1/4 to 1/2 mile. A little dressy, high quality foods that were cooked well, lovely server, cost was what we expected. OMGoodness, we loved it. AVOID AT ALL COST. This place is consistent at being inconsistent. If you want to pay $35+ for an overcooked steak, under seasoned sides, and the worst fettuccine you've ever eaten; then this is your place! I am not going to go into great detail on the sides but I do want to address the steak situation. I ordered my filet rare. When the steak came out, it was clearly medium. I don't normally send food back but there was no way I could justify paying their price and not getting what I ordered. The waitress took it back and I could clearly tell the cook was argumentative about the cook on the steak. That's when I knew we were in trouble. If he honestly thought that steak was even close to rare, there was no way he was going to be able to cook another steak any better. Wellllll I was right...the waitress delivered my "corrected" steak and the cook on it was nearly identical. The waitress checked back with us to see if my steak was ok the second time and I told her no but I was over it. I took a single bite of the steak and set it aside. It tasted like ground beef. The waitress brought us our nearly $200 check without saying a word. She was tipped without any deductions but only because I knew it wasn't her fault. We have visited this establishment several times over the past two years. Sometimes it was really good and sometimes it was just "ok". This time it was horrendous and proved to be the proverbial last straw. We will not be returning. read more

Bordeaux randomly came up on my Yelp Restaurant search and I saw the location and thought this seems far, but I looked at the wine menu and saw Meomi Red Blend by the glass and made the decision to check it out. If I'm going to wine it's going to be with a glass of Meomi Red Blend and a new Steakhouse, with the potential of a brag worthy dining experience. Bordeaux is a restaurant with 2 event spaces holding a capacity of 400 people. Not too shabby. When I arrived there was a 40th birthday going on with music. It was nice and inviting. I sat at the bar and was greeted by Salvatore. The most charming bartender ever! I ordered my Meomi Red Blend and he told me about the special and I asked LOTS of questions about other various dishes I saw on the menu because I am a super passionate Foodie. After the questions and answers, I stuck with the Low Country Casserole that is made with Yellow Stone Ground Grits, andouille sausage and shrimp smothered in cheese. The dish was epic it also came with a dollop of green beans and steamed carrots. But I did start out with the Wedge Salad, a classic. It came with bacon bits, pickled onions which were my favorite and blue cheese dressing. The presentation was mediocre but it was still a fabulous classic first course to eat. The entire restaurant and decor is very nice with white table clothes on the tables and the tables are set with exquisite taste. The service was absolutely outstanding by everyone, Salvatore, even the other servers and employees. They were very engaging and attentive to me and the other tables. It showed great teamwork and comradery. I saw Michael Jordan's tequila and decided to try it. It wasn't my favorite but Bordeaux has other amazing top shelf tequila to choose from, as well. I got another glass of the red blend and was pleasantly surprised by a Dessert; the Pear Cobbler with Vanilla Ice Cream that tasted very freshly made like Salvatore explained to me. Everything from the service to the food, and the wine/alcohol exceeded my palette seducing expectations. Even though it's like an hour plus away from my home town but 30 minutes from Augusta, I can see myself returning. The Chef was a delight too. He came out and greeted me, shared some information about the dishes I ate, and sat down for some small talk. I highly enjoy when the executive chef comes out of the BOH and does Quality Control with the guests, so that was a huge plus! I can see Bordeaux having an amazing and successful future with its concept as long as everyone keeps doing what they're doing and what I experienced while dining. Bordeaux will do just fine! Bordeaux was a pleasant dining experience for a large birthday party. This newly built restaurant was in a beautiful area of Thomson and was very accommodating for a party of 12. We ordered a chilled bottle of wine to split between two of us and the bottle was slightly chilled but closer to room temperature. I wish it was mentioned that they didn't have chilled bottles before upselling us from a glass to a bottle. My date and I ordered the Mesquite Ribeye which was topped with onions, peppers, and a balsamic reduction. Served along side mashed potatoes, carrots and broccolini. The steak was perfectly cooked to the temp that we ordered however, we did feel that even with the addition of the peppers, onions and sauce the steak was still lacking flavor/seasoning. The carrots and broccolini were also lacking flavor. The service and atmosphere was great and we will return to try other menu items in hopes of an updated review in the future. read more

Bordeaux is a hidden gem in the Thomson community. It's off the beaten path atmosphere gives you the sense you are in a whole different place. This place has elegant yet casual vibes. Love the open air atmosphere. Please note this is no mom and pop place and the prices reflect that, but the presentation and taste are worth it. Extremely picky eaters might have trouble but they should find something. It also has a kid's menu with pretty reasonable prices for the little ones. Everything is portioned size for a person even the appetizers. Just know this. We ordered thinking we were sharing, but we needed another for two people. The staff is super friendly which makes for such a pleasant experience. The food is prepared when ordered so be ready to wait for your food. Also it's an open kitchen so be ready for getting a little smokiness in the air. Nothing bad though. This is a great place and has several spots for small parties. It even has an event space you can reserve and they'll cater. So if you are celebrating and don't mind paying. This is the place. Not an everyday place to me, but definitely a spot to try and celebrate at. We will definitely be back. It's just an overall great experience and it's different from the usual. I attended a private large family/friends birthday gathering. The temperature of the food was great, the food was prepared with accuracy and time sensitive to hungry guests. My favorite items were the carrots, fried shrimp and fish, and corn. The steak was good, but better with A1 sauce. The ambiance is nice and the staff was very friendly. The Ribeye was 50% fat and this plate of food included fries and Asparagus all served cold. The fried shrimp platter had hushpuppies that were fried to a rock and the shrimp were very overcooked. I recently had lunch at Bordeaux. I will try to post their lunch menu which will satisfy most of your taste. From seafood, burger to salad. Service was initially good but as the restaurant began comes busier during lunch rush, it was apparent that they did not have enough staff. Glasses becoming empty was a clue. Checks not cashed out timely when people were done. Etc. I ordered the burger which was not much more than ground beef pan fried with decent lettuce tomato etc. No ketchup even though I ordered fries which never materialized. I was with guest so didn't make a deal out of it. Guest had salad and I think the club sandwich which was large!! With sides!! Location and atmosphere was amazing!! Nice new place for Thomson!! Reasonable lunch prices as they should advertise they have a lunch menu more. We have avoided this place because of the high end dinner pricing. Why only 3 stars? Burger was mediocre at best. No sides. No ketchup. No chance to even ask as servers were super busy. Lack of staff to handle a rush in what is expected to be a nicely serviced establishment. read more

My family decided to go here for my dads 75th Birthday. The atmosphere was fine dining but you can dress more relaxed. We were greeted promptly at the door and seated for our reservation. There was some equipment malfunctions right as we arrived due to the dropping temperatures outside, but the staff handled it quickly. We order a bottle of Moscato and Sauvignon Blanc for the table both were very great choices. For appetizers we ordered the Oysters Bordeaux which is their version of Oyster Rockefeller (6 oysters) which were good. Two ordered of Shrimp cocktail were also ordered and were also very tasty with the horseradish dipping sauce. The two toddlers shared a 6oz sirloin steak and fries which they enjoyed and ate all of. I order the Filet Medallions which is two 3 oz filets with crab, lobster, shrimp, and scallops in a sauce over garlic mashed potatoes with seasonal veggies on the side. The garlic mashed potatoes are sooooo yummy as well as the broccolini that was on the side. Someone order the low country casserole which was a shrimp and grits with andouille sausage which I was told is one of their most popular dishes. Two Ribeyes were ordered which was also delicious and my sister ordered the Halibut dish. There were great reviews and no complaints other than one side of veggies came out kind of cold. The waitress was notified and she brought out warm veggies. For dessert we order the Creme brûlée which was good however there was wayyy too much brown sugar on top and a suggestion would be to use a thinner layer of brown sugar to caramelize. Overall the restaurant was a nice atmosphere. I feel like it is a little overpriced however the food was delicious. I would go back to try some of the other dishes. read more

Great new spot in Thomson with excellent food and service! I really enjoyed my first visit to Bordeaux and this place has so much to offer. The location is set back off of Thomson's Main Street, in a semi-rustic area that offers the rural charm you can't find in the city. Indoors, you'll find a contemporary fine dining experience with great wine and terrific entrees. This is not just a spot for Thomson, but worth the drive from Augusta as well. read more

Walking in, the layout, lighting, atmosphere were a letdown. The stacking chairs and simple tables don't convey steakhouse to me, more like local upscale diner. The floor plan was spacious and completely open. The lighting was full of glare and made you feel as though eating on a stage. I have a new red flag after our visit. When the menu states that all entrees come with the same two sides, you know the kitchen is cutting corners, phoning it in. Tonight was mashed potatoes with green beans and carrots. The potatoes were dry, the beans seemed over boiled with no sauté marks, and the carrots were pleasantly sweet but mush. I ordered the NY strip mid rare with mushrooms and onions with truffle oil. It came a couple degrees over, covered with baby portobellos and thinly sliced onion rings that looked like they were just pulled out of the water pot and tossed with a little truffle oil. Again, no signs of sauté or butter. The steak was otherwise just ok. I would not use the word unctuous to describe anything on my plate. The bar, on other hand, did very well. My manhattan was spot on. The service, though not perfect, was also very nice given our large party and short staff, hence an extra star. read more

Beautiful facility with average food at high prices and service that is so poor it will fuel laughter for years to come. Went to celebrate Mom's 75th birthday. We sat for 40 minutes with nothing but water being served. Party of 14. When food arrived it was literally over 40 minutes from first plate to last plate hitting the table. Some of the food was over cooked, some barely cooked. Bills were messed up. Overall, we had a great time because of the people we were with but it was in spite of the restaurant not because of it. No apologies for the poor service or the issues with the food. No thanks for coming in. Nothing. There were lots of employees but poor service - not only at our tables but others as well. Hopefully this is just growing pains as the business has not been established long. read more

Our reservation was at 6:30 on a Saturday. We ordered some drinks and an appetizer. They were out of the appetizer we wanted, so we went with our second choice. Three bacon-wrapped shrimp on fried green tomatoes was delivered. The shrimp were good, slightly overcooked, as were the fried green tomatoes. When we ordered our entrees they were out of my first and second choice (both steaks) so I went with my third choice. When my entree was delivered it was missing several ingredients, including the fish. It was just a plate of fettucine, spinach (I think) and mushrooms. Our waitress quickly brought my fish and crab - fish was overcooked and crab was very dry and definitely not fresh - but I was still missing the asparagus and Bernaise sauce. I asked the waitress to just take it back and remove it from our bill. I would like to note that the waitress and the manager, were great about the whole situation, this was not their fault, and my husband's entree was good. We decided to try dessert, creme brulee and chocolate lasagna. Both desserts will still frozen and the custard in the creme brulle was broken. My wife and I have a second home in Thomson. We frequent this place when we are there. This past Saturday we went, it was the worst experience we could have had. We ordered salad and our entrees, when we ask where our salads were we were told they would be right out. We waited longer than they came. Less than 2 minutes the entrees arrived. I ask to speak to the manager. I told her I am a peculiar eater and by the time I would finish my salad my steak would be cold. The manager said sorry and walked away. Little did I know my steak was not going to get cold it was supposed to be medium it appeared that it had just been cut off the cow and seared either side. We normally love our experience here but not this time. The manager stated that they had a lot going on and that was the issue. She did take care of the meal, although I would have preferred a nice dinner as we have experienced here before. read more

Excited to finally hear about this place here in Thomson! Called ahead as it was going to be about 7 o'clock on a weeknight before we could get there. We were assured this would be absolutely fine to come in then. When we got there, we were one of only two parties there. Asked again if it was too late and reassured it was not. Service, however, suggested it was too late. Waitress seemed brusque and not terribly friendly. Food was very disappointing. My NY strip was cold, dry, and TOUGH! I usually am a NY strip fan and this was really lousy. I have had better steaks at Applebee's or somewhere of equivalent ilk. Garlic mashed potatoes were cold. Best thing on plate was the cooked carrots! My son said his food was good. He got the ribeye, but he was so hungry I think he would have liked anything. Chocolate lasagna dessert was bland and strangely not at all sweet. It was frozen and full of ice crystals. Had coffee with dessert and it was good, but no offer of a refill as we were packed up and , I felt, hustled out of there. The other table was still there, so not sure what the hurry was, but I definitely felt like all the employees were eager to get us out of there. This is understandable as they wanted to go home, but if it is too late for people to come in, then say so!! Overall, food was nothing special and service was abrupt. Everyone has bad days, so will likely try again at an earlier time and busier night. But for $150 for two people - with no alcohol - the food and service had better be splendid next time or it will be our last trip. read more
