Service was objectively fine but felt a little superficial... pacing of dishes was also off. Food was good, but again, underwhelming for the price. Parking is impossible in the location. Pine Bar is a small restaurant that has a variety of wines, mixed drinks and tapas. There are 2 outdoor patios, one covered and one uncovered and in an inside too. They take reservations as well, but we came around 6pm on a Wednesday and they weren't too busy. By 6:30pm, it started to pick up though! We came specifically for the happy hour. Which is 5-7pm and they $15 bottled wines and $1 off raw oysters. We were promptly seated on the patio when we arrived, given water for us and our pup that had joined us. We started off with drinks and a dozen oysters, let me say these oysters were very good and they give you everything you need to eat with them. I wonder if the saltine crackers are homemade! Next we ordered 3 different tapas: the cauliflower, hummus and slider trio. All were super delicious! Overall my experience at The Pine Bar was spectacular and I'm pretty sure I'll be a regular in the future!

We originally had a 7:45 PM reservation, but showed up early hoping for a change. They were incredibly accommodating and got us seated immediately at 6:30 PM on the patio. It turned out to be the highlight of the night--we absolutely loved the atmosphere out there. Even for an early spring evening in Athens, the heaters were positioned perfectly and kept us comfortable the entire time. It's rare to find a spot that's this flexible and still executes at such a high level. Highly recommend.

I had already been about four times before and had determined that I was never going back after my last experience. Well, this one was even worse. Maybe some of the worst service ever. The restaurant was half full, and 80% of the clientele were sorority girls. Nothing against them but I remember the first time I went there when it first opened and it was full of townies. We waited literally almost 30 minutes for our drinks. Finally we had to go find a manager. We were told that they were out of one of the liquors so instead of sending one of their lame bartenders over to ask if we had a second choice we sat there for 30 minutes. The food is so overpriced. And honestly? I make better food at home. They have all these cute, nice looking folks serving the food and they're a little matching aprons, but they seriously lack any sense of urgency or attention. Not only will I never go back to this restaurant, I'm going to make sure that all my friends know not to go there. But judging from the current clientele, I think most people have gotten the word that this place is not worth the money. Oh, and at the end of the evening, their valet parking app didn't work. My friend spend a lot of money in restaurants, and as we left they said they would never go back there either. You have been warned!

But oh man, we have at least 4 meals off of this plate of nachos, so they can have my $24 anytime. This is one of the best plates of nachos I have ever had, and I eat mexican a lot if you look at my reviews. I think they make their chips as they are thicker than most, but have an amazing actual flavor, and the toppings are ABUNDANT. This was carne asada and it was absolutely delish. The bartender greeted us when we walked in, showed us where to order and to pick a seat inside or on the cute little patio. They brought the food out within 10 minutes and we chowed. Others around us had margarita buckets and pitchers of beer, so plenty of options. Someone was raving about a pickle margarita...next trip that is on my list. Super clean, very friendly, great food, and it is labeled vegetarian and gluten free on the menu for those of us who need that info. I will most definitely be back.

We ordered a pretty big spread of food including the dip trio, a few tacos, the brisket quesadilla, and some wings. The peach bourbon wings have a great flavor. I actually preferred those to the truffalo. The dip trio was great. The guac was very fresh and creamy. The queso had small chunks of peppers that I liked. I can see the appeal of this place for parents and students alike.

The food: I went with the Fried Chicken Blue Plate. Between the regular and the Nashville Hot, the Nashville was the winner--flavorful and moist without being overwhelming with the spice. Huge shoutout to my server for suggesting the brussel sprouts; that glaze is incredible and they were easily my favorite part of the plate. The mashed sweet potatoes were unique--I'm still debating if I liked them or loved them. The jalapeño cornbread was a bit sweet for my taste but on par with most restaurant cornbread. The mac & cheese wasn't bad, but also didn't do much for me like most restaurant mac & cheese. The cocktail: Do not sleep on Nana's Naissance. I wasn't sure what to expect from the ingredients, but it's like an elevated take on Rumchata. The service: I was seated at the bar and experienced a noticeable delay--a group that arrived well after me almost finished their meal before mine arrived. However, the waitress acknowledged the wait before I even had to mention it and made things right. I really appreciate that kind of proactive service. We're all human, and they handled the situation very professionally.
